Rortvedt being 3-5 in the series while Austin Wells hasn’t even SLIGHTLY hit this season is awfully annoying.
Hopefully Gil can pitch well, but I guess more importantly is that the Yankee offense actually finds a way to score off of a Rays starter. It’s been pretty embarrassing so far.
good ol volpe to move the game along
second
Three hitters in a row swinging at the first pitch when the pitcher is above 100 pitches seems like a strategy, but that must be coincidence.
turn it over volpe. gil is getting restless
ump enjoying game
I think volpe should adopt the on deck approach to abs. watch it into the mitt
Geez, Volpe, getting overpowered by 86 MPH pitches.
high spin rate and uh tunneling bruh
GIL TIME
Was in the other room and vaguely heard the announcers – who had a horrible ligament injury rounding first?
Francisco Alvarez
Ah, thanks. Well.
ooo, weaver time. my cup runneth over
weaver appreciates men on
It’s like Gil can’t handle success. You’re up four runs and have two outs, and you walk TWO DUDES?!
quiet you
curse you k:bb gods
FUCK YOU
Oh, for Pete’s sake.
What relievers (with sufficient sample size) have the best records preventing inherited runners scoring? Is that a separate skill, or does it track to the basic pitching stats?
Over time, yes, I believe it tracks.
zzz
we want Ben rice!
1b ump enjoying game, too
1) judge, 2) Soto, 3) jones (ss)…
I ran the numbers, it’s optimal
ump really enjoying game
weaver v rortvedt. Jeff v Brian. jeff 4, Brian 0(for 3)
Caballero sitting fastball and/or red dot gil shitball
ump tires of plodding abs
Now this, THIS is precisely when you use Luke Weaver. Just let him pitch the rest of the game until he gets into trouble.
And yes, Rortvedt being 0-3 makes me very happy.
only so many l’s to go around, huh
Brian, can we PM each other using this system?
I don’t believe so, no.
Okay, I’ll do it another way.

graphics intern is diversifying into vendor relations
Nice game for a guy I don’t want on my team.
1 more out and I would have been thrilled with Gil. Instead I’m just happy with his game.
Agreed. Big step forward for Gil, I hope.
jeff tires, whiffs twice and a half… In a row!
I’m surprised by them pulling Weaver.
Wrote you on FB, Brian.
😡
rays don’t like pitch to contact
evidently Santana doesn’t either
I stand corrected
apparently the crowd is indifferent
That was such a bad walk by Santana. You’re up 4 runs in the 8th inning, dude, just throw strikes!
This is why you don’t fucking put guys on base for no reason.
I still don’t get pulling Weaver, also.
Ah, the ever-popular “switch pitchers until you find the guy who doesn’t have it today” strategy.
oh my fucking god
fuck you gil
graphics intern taking cues from blake
bwehehehe 0-4, where is your god now
volpe suddenly channeling Juan gonzalez
I like this Caballero chap
ok now he pissed me off
yay win
Stupid ending to a dumb game.
There’s no way Boone’s in-game management anti-skill can be costing the team fewer than 15-20 games per season. Relative to a neutral in-game manager, not a brilliant one.
Phew. Way too close for comfort, but better than not winning!
So glad Booner in his infinite wisdom buried González on the bench
Yeah, he should definitely be moving up the hierarchy, leverage-wise.
Jones 3/4 with a home run up to 381/1029 to start the season
With judge, Gleyber, Rizzo not hitting; Cole out; and the dumbest in game manager ive ever seen, they are 15-7. Pretty crazy.
It really is remarkable that they’re 15-7 with Judge batting under .200 with just three home runs.
16 wins if rortvedt was still on the team
16 wins if Gleyber knew how to play even a lick of defense!
Volpe 1-21, 0 BB in that stretch. Why did CashBoone move into the leadoff spot? Sabotage?
Seriously, I hope it’s SSS, but the difference between Volpe leading off (and not just overall) and every other PA this year is pretty massive.
I’d really love to see the Yankees give Volpe a bit of a break on offense and move him back to 5-7.
It just seems to be way too obvious to move him back to the 5-7 spot, but they tend to be stubborn as fuck.
I think it’s matter of future value. But is it that or are pitchers pitching him differently? Have his mechanics changed?
