Rea has been pitching well, so they’re presumably fucked tonight.
Hoch: Jasson Dominguez has increased his throwing to 135 feet, according to Aaron Boone. Dominguez is “a few weeks” away from beginning to play in Minor League rehab games, per Boone.
1 1/2 runs over/under?
Bronx Gliders are 19th in Slg in the MLB
Soto and Verdugo, who else?
Wells according stats has been the unluckiest hitter in baseball. There’s another line drive.
This team just really doesn’t want to win an easy game do they. You’re allowed to be winning by more than 2 runs!
Maybe Judge isn’t back despite Ruocco’s exuberance
I’m sure he’ll eventually get back, but holy shit, it’s rough to watch right now.
i just have this feeling like we’re seeing the beginning of this team becoming a mess again. Maybe I’m being cynical… but i have this feeling…
Milwaukee and Baltimore road trip could be a disaster.
Just like the brain trust drew it up
Ha Ha
What if Brice Turang married Christopher Durang
Do-lang do-lang
When Judge doesn’t strike out he hits these lazy fly balls
He’s a mess right now.
Everson Pereira has 14 XBH in 97 PA. Spencer Jones had 2 2B tonight.
boo gil, boo!
He was crappy.
Does Volpe have so much as a single hit since moving to leadoff?
Can’t pinch hit Stanton and let him play the field?
Just checked in on OAK-BAL. Miller can make good hitters look foolish too.
Santana has a 4.63 era for the season. This is not Holmes or Hamilton Kay.
I like it better when Judge strikes out or hits a lazy fly ball. I might switch Judge and Soto as well as Gleyber and Verdugo,
that’s what i’ve been saying too
Hey the Yankees leading the majors in GIDPs. Hooray for us.
Reminds me of the glory days of Tino Martinez
When they give Judge a night “off” they should give him the whole night off. It’s not like they need to keep his bat in the lineup. It can’t hurt.
after a day off can’t they just flip him with soto? it also couldn’t hurt if he sees an extra meatball or two.
It really is time to switch Judge and Soto.
What bat virus has the CCP given the Yankees hitters?
If we can continue to win 80% of all the one run games we should be ok.
i feel bad for dmx. they ruined his song and put it in that terrible commercial. rolling over in his grave growling right now.
stanton hit that pretty hard. surprised everyone including stanton.
time to flip verdugo and volpe too. cmon man.
Of course Holmes will pitch the 10th
wtf was boone thinking? even if this dude threw an immaculate inning. why?!
Boone should be fired for this game.
I don’t understand this move at all. Tomkin 6era, 1.555 WHIP. Why was he claimed? Why did Boooner use him now? Hes lucky it’s not over yet.
Holmes threw ten pitches. TEN!
This has to be the Booneyist of all Booney moves.
This is what I would have done if I was trying to lose this game.
I was kind of hoping they would score.
can’t chatgpt fill out the lineup card and make bullpen decisions?
I mean maybe if it’s still tied you put in this clown but not with a lead.
Does going on contact mean even if it’s Kamikaze?
What numbers are they looking at that leads to that fucking contact play?
Q: it’s the tenth inning and you are the manager of the ny yankees. your closer has thrown 10 pitches. do you leave him in for another inning or put in a guy who has been dudas twice this season and has a 6 era?
A: Given the situation, I’d assess the condition of my closer and the overall game situation. If my closer is still pitching effectively and showing no signs of fatigue, I might leave him in for another inning, especially if he’s been dominant in the game so far. However, if he’s starting to show signs of struggling or if the opposing team has been getting good contact against him, I might consider bringing in the other pitcher, despite his previous struggles, to try and change the momentum of the game. Ultimately, the decision would depend on a variety of factors including the specific circumstances of the game and the strengths and weaknesses of each pitcher.
LOL
Seems like chatgpt was leaning to keeping in Holmes.
Maybe Boone is looking at Grok?
He didn’t yell anything racist as he was taking Holmes out, so probably not.
L O L
george steinbrenner was not perfect by any means but would we still be stuck with boone if he was around? of course not.
Cashman would be LONG GONE.
This may be Boone’s worst managed game yet. He was actively trying to lose since the start of the 6th.
Booner outdid himself. Cash gets some blame too. There’s no one in the minors better than this?
Out of 30 major league managers statcast says only Booner would’ve pulled Holmes for Tonkin.
I don’t mind them picking up Tonkin to let Blake work with him. He’s intriguing enough that multiple teams have tried him. There might be something that Blake could unlock. That’s a whole lot different than using him right away in the 11th inning of a tie game when a run loses the game.
I felt in Booner’s first year somebody should’ve documented all his bad moves. If they kept it up they would’ve had a best seller along the lines of The Warren report.
Jomboy “ Tonkin vibes right now are like Clay begged Boone to let his brother get an inning.”
Yankees are now 3-15 in road extra-inning games since 2022. That’s the worst record among all teams over the last 3 seasons.
Curry: Holmes only threw once in the last 5 games.
Sabotage.
i can’t stand it
They’re not saying BOO they’re saying Boo-oone
Volpe, Judge, Rizzo and Gleyber 0/19.
The ‘Season of Gloom’.
That’s everybody chanting “The Season of Boone.”

here’s a take from reddit:
“ I really don’t hate the decision to bring in Tonkin as much as some people. It’s a long season and we are currently in the middle of a 17 day long streak of games without a day off and burning the bullpen to maybe win one game is going to hurt us over the next 9 straight days of games we have.
Holmes is also a ground ball pitcher so I don’t know how effective he would be in holding the runner regardless. Unfortunately last night the pitching didn’t hold up enough to keep the Brewers at bay and the bats didn’t have enough to build a sizable lead.”
the thing is, how many losses will we be tagged with because boone didn’t want to push someone, another day of rest, or plain not trying? the postseason doesn’t matter if we finish with 82 wins.
10 pitches!
Give me a manager that HATES to lose.
Even if you want to be OK with pulling Holmes, how is Tonkin the right choice in that situation?
Yeah, precisely. I can defend not sending Holmes out there (I don’t like it, but I can defend it), but the guy who JUST GOT THERE can’t be the choice there. Especially when Victor Gonzalez was still available. Fine, you want to avoid Hamilton and Weaver, that makes sense. But you use Gonzalez then, and THEN you can use Tonkin if need be in the 12th or whatever.
sure. i’m fine with it just like i’m fine with the yanks having the worst record in extra innings in baseball since 22
I’m not sure it really makes any sense at all to “save” the good pitchers in that spot – to avoid just using the best pitcher you have left.
What you have is a guarantee that you’re using that “best pitcher left” in a high leverage situation. Why save him in case you get one later? You have one now. And what’s the likelihood you end up using them in a LOWER-leverage situation? Pretty good, I’m betting.
Just win the game you’re playing, man.
yes!
