From Bryan Hoch:
Aaron Judge reached a significant milestone as he works to rejoin the Yankees lineup. The three-time American League MVP has been cleared to participate in light activities, including outdoor running and upper-body resistance training.
Judge worked out on the field at Yankee Stadium prior to Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals. He underwent his latest round of scans on Tuesday that displayed enough healing to advance his training, according to manager Aaron Boone.
“I’ll be back this season,” Judge said. “I don’t know why I wouldn’t be. That was always the plan, to come back sooner than later, definitely. I never had a thought of not playing this year.”
“It’s an important part of his progression to get back with us,” Boone said. “It’s good to see him with his pinstripes on and cleats, heading out onto the field in the afternoon, certainly.”
Everything fucking sucks right now, so I figured we could at least celebrate Judge being cleared for light activities, which is legitimately some very good news.
I’m surprised he didn’t think twice and then go, nah I’ll pass.
Well, he’s dumb enough to play through an injury for a month, so he’s probably dumb enough to want to jump back on board this squad.
He killed the team as well as his chance at three straight AL MVPs. No one has ever won three straight MVPs in the AL.
Also, (from the previous thread).

Elmer 4ip 2r 3h 5BB 6k, 87 pitches, 51 strikes. Elmer needs some fixing, Schumann played but Dominguez and phenom taking a couple of days off.
Bosox tie it in the bottom of the ninth, Chisox score 2 in the top of the tenth.
Not enough
And the Bosox tie in the tenth. Then the Chissox retake the lead in the eleventh.
And the Bosox tie it at 10-10, still batting.
The Bosox loaded the bases after tying it, but failed to push across the winning run. To the twelfth!
Chisox retake the lead 11-10, still batting.
Chisox also loaded the bases, but no more runs.
Wild pitch gets the tying run to 3rd with 1 out.
Tied with a sac-fly.
To the thirteenth! Fascinating to see teams score in extra innings multiple times. Who knew?
Chisox fail to score.
Bosox win.
This Red Sox stretch is just unreal right now. Honestly, hell, good for them. This is just nuts.
Scoring the runner from 2nd four innings in a row. Yankees haven’t done that four times all year.
The Yankees are hitting 171 in extra innings games. Dead last in the MLB.
Over the last 30 days Yankees are hitting 219 dead last in the MLB. Their OBP is 285, also dead last. But Rowson still has a job.
guys I have also been cleared for light activities
Yay!
Bud Lite Lime?
well…yes
Source: Catcher Mitch Garver has signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees.
Will report to @swbrailriders and has an opt out later this month.
Does he suck more, the same, or inconsequentially less than their current catching corps?
Corpses
Edit accepted.
“The right-handed hitting Garver, playing in his 10th Major League season, recorded a .175/.302/.294 slash line with four home runs in 50 games with Seattle before the club released him on Tuesday.”
“He has finished with a sub-100 OPS+ in each of his [last] three seasons with the Mariners.”
[Sound Lurch makes.]
Even with his shitty hitting, Garver has a 101 OPS+ against lefties, so I’m totally cool with giving him the backup job after letting Swanson teach him the Yankee way of catching for a couple of weeks. I’m glad to get confirmation that Cashman hates Ali Sanchez as much as I do.
red sox with the best 36 game stretch in history at 31-5.
the only good thing about a quick exit is that maybe it will be the end of the cashboone era?
Even the most long-since-obviously-untenable hope springs eternal.
They could lose ever game for the rest of the year and fail to score a single run for the rest of the year and neither Cashman nor Boone would be fired.
And we’d still be told at every turn: if they fired them, they’d be snapped up by any other team that had the chance to get them!
Hal needs to be interested in finding some young and up-and-coming-person as the next GM. But if he did fire Cashman, he’d probably hire Afterman, who bears part of the responsibility for this mess. Familiarity is Hal’s byword.
They A’s did the impossible. They fired their GM.
Hal keeps looking blankly at the headline, just doesn’t understand what it all means.
Forst out?
Yes, they are going their separate A’s
Game delayed.

OPS, or just OBP?
Andrew Knizner opted out of his Red Sox contract. He’s a righty who is NOT a terrible defender. I’d be fine with them getting him and cutting Garver loose.
I can only hope they actually ask you.
It happened AFTER they signed Garver, so I imagine they WILL be in on Knizner.
There was another freely available catcher you thought they’d just pick up a little while back, who they just… didn’t, wasn’t there? They don’t always do things that are just obviously things they should do.
But I’m on board, of course!
Still no starting time given.
I’m not saying they’re not playing this game, as they probably ARE, but man, it seems hard to believe they’re playing this game.
Bosox are up 5-0 in the third inning.
All townie games are mismatches. That one even more than usual. Not that we could score against Jack Perkins or even Anthony Perkins.
phenom, Jasson, and Schumann a combined 3-5, phenom with a home run. Can’t wait for those guys to come up.
Nine pm start. Nice!
Approx. 9 PM start.
