  1. Jones was raking last night. Of course you sit him to have your superior SS play out of position in order to keep Volpe in the lineup. It’s the Yankee way.

  2. Escarra is NOT good, no doubt, but when he’s at-bat, I feel like he at least knows how to swing a bat. He’s just bad. I don’t think I’ve seen Sanchez even have a REMOTELY competitive at-bat just yet.

  3. Hard to give a guy with a 1.010 OPS shit, but Rice seems like he might be a guy prone to going into slumps (like Stanton and Judge). Remember that crazy stretch in 2024 when he became absolutely unplayable?

    1. You can’t compare now to then. He’s a different player. He’s constantly improving.

    1. Seems like there’s no other choice. Let him play second and third and see if he can return to being a mediocre hitter instead of a hopeless one.

    1. AAA stats of two completely random shortstops

      Player A .258 .340 .436 .776
      Player B .227 .291 .383 .674

    1. Boy, do I hate this dude. Puts the team into a hole right off the bat, they give him a 3-1 lead, and he promptly fucks that up by giving up a double with two men on to Austin fucking Hedges?!

  4. I wonder if the Red Sox would actually consider trading one of their catchers to the Yankees. I automatically dismissed the notion in the past, but they can’t keep carrying three catchers, right?

    1. They brought the guy in billed as a cy young candidate. I get he was injured but it would have been nice if he could have attempted another inning. Even with the day off, the pen does need the rest.

    1. Scott Proctor who’s greatest moment was giving up a walk off home run to Longoria.

  5. BeforeAli’s walk
Kirschner Wild stat: Since May 1, Yankees catchers have a combined 8 wRC+, a slash line of .130/.205/.165, and a strikeout rate of 30.7%. They have a combined 15 hits and 11 walks since May 1.

In June, a Yankees catcher has yet to reach base. 0-for-22, 0 BB, 10 K

  6. 6-3 lead after 6 and a bullpen that’s overused with a long man just waiting… so let’s use “every day Headrick!” At least he used Yarby for 2. (And from what I saw Yarby didn’t have much so maybe in hindsight that was a good move.)

Volpe – 1 hit, one error. Is that a good game for him?

    1. I think the important thing here is that we should wait for them to not send Volpe down before we criticize them for not sending Volpe down.

As I noted before, they have no one else on the 40 man. So him being on the roster now is fine. It is if they keep him on the roster that would be the problem.

    2. It seems like poor resource management that they haven’t turned him into something else.
