  1. Giancarlo Stanton felt a tweak/twinge in his calf while running bases this week, Aaron Boone said. More imaging is possible. Boone had expected Stanton to return early this coming homestand, that is now in jeopardy.

  2. Out of challenges in the bottom of the 4th. Jazz should only be allowed to challenge in super high leverage situations. Pitchers should not be allowed to challenge. Let the catcher do it.

  3. And again. Ball 3 was probably (barely) a strike, but the other pitches weren’t close. CS generally pounds the zone. What is this?

  4. Amazing that a Schlitter with this little command of the zone and this many baserunners STILL only gives up 1 run over 6 innings!
But I’m also getting kind of sick of saying that. Can we have the Schlittler back who walks nobody and cruises through seven and gives up nothing at least some of the time again?

    1. Yes. But give me a less gutsy, pounding the zone dominant seven innings next time, can you?

  5. Yankees MILB 6/12: George Lombard Jr. Homers Twice. (June OPS 984 per 42 ABs)
    SS George Lombard Jr.: 2-for-5, 2B (9), HR (3), RBI, 2 R, K
The home run was right down the left field line (326 feet in Scranton). I mention that because Savant didn’t record an exact distance, but it wasn’t much further than that. It was hit at 95.3 MPH. The double, meanwhile, was hit at 100.4 MPH.

Lalane did his best to make me change the headline. Last four starts: 0.42 ERA (21.2 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 6 BB, 30 K). Tonight, he hit 97.5 MPH with his 4-seam fastball (averaged 93.9, which I will question because pitches in the low-80s were registering as “4-seam fastballs” on Savant) and generated seven whiffs on eight swings with his slider (20 whiffs on 47 swings overall). Regardless of the accuracy of the Savant data, this is an impressive run. Stay healthy.

  6. Katie S —

Ryan Weathers is 0-3 with 16 ER and 7 HR allowed over his last 3 starts.

He is the 2nd pitcher in Yankees history to have a 3-game span with
    ❎ 3 Losses
    ❎ 16+ ER allowed
    ❎ 7+ HR allowed

The other was Carlos Rodon in June/July 2024.
