  1. Boone stacks the lineup with lefty mashers. The Jones-Volpe platoon is unstoppable.

In all fairness Volpe is ok against LHPs 248/726, but very bad against RHPs 212/636

    P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
    B Rice (L) DH
    J Domínguez (S) RF
    C Bellinger (L) CF
    A Rosario (R) 3B
    J Caballero (R) 2B
    M Schuemann (R) LF
    A Volpe (R) SS
    A Sánchez (R) C

    1. Boone’s platoons were the same disservice to Ben Rice 1-2 years ago. They only delayed his development against lefties and didn’t really help the team. It seems equally stupid now to sit Jones, who is capable of learning and may have a much higher ceiling than .726, in favor of Volpe, who has shown himself utterly incapable of growth.

    2. I suppose Schuemann is more directly displacing Jones today. Volpe is displacing Caballero who is displacing Chisholm. But that is also stupid. Let Cabby play short every day. Let Jazz play second base. Let the phenom learn other positions in the minors. Hell, have him re-learn shortstop in the minors.

But if you’re not going to give Jones the reps, and you’re playing utility guys like Schuemann ahead of him, then send him back down, or trade him.
