    1. Jomboy thinks Judge has been selling out for homers, which I think is a reasonable explanation. It seemed a few weeks ago that he was just stepping in the bucket and he’d sort it out, but even as he’s mostly fixed that he’s had stretches of worse contact or no contact at all, then occasionally he’ll run into one.

  1. Wells turned out to be such a total POS, 167/544.

I’m all in favor of OBP but is it possible Wells and Grisham are too passive because they’re looking too hard for a walk.

  2. First my beloved Fuck Your Stupid Beard policy, now alternates, like they’re the goddamn Rangers?

This team was already hard enough to like under the steady, surgeon-like hand of Aaron John Boone.

    1. Despite their (too often delayed) reliance on orthopedic surgeons, Cashman’s Yankees have more often needed the steady hands of a forensic pathologist.

  3. Not sure you agree but I’m beginning to think this guy Schlittler can pitch a little.

I’m also beginning to think this team – with the best record in the AL – isn’t going anywhere in the post season because their lineup isn’t good enough. And I don’t think cashman is the right guy to fix it.

    1. This team isn’t going anywhere in the postseason not only because more than half the starting lineup stinks, but also because even the good hitters strike out too often against decent pitching.

  4. Katie S Cam Schlittler in 2026:
    6 games, 41 strikeouts, 26 baserunners

Schlittler is the only Yankee with 40+ K and 26 or fewer baserunners allowed in his first 6 games pitched of a season

  5. Remember when idiot Cashman traded away obvious All Star catcher Carlos Narvaez? He hit pretty well for two months last year. In the 79 games since then he’s a .210/.251/.373/.624 hitter. Is he even their starter? This year he’s started only 61% of games.

    1. It still galled me when he briefly gave them the lead. But yeah, Elmer has obviously been a very good return for Narvaez. I thought that last year even when Narvaez was practically an All Star in the first half!

    2. I was angry, but now I wouldn’t even consider reversing the move. Cash gets credit for this result like he gets blame for Garret Whitlock.

And if Peraza continues to hit,OPS 889 after 76 PAs, I will wonder why our hitting instructors and batting coaches are so bad.

  6. This series against Houston should be very informative.
Usually, if there’s a 50 run disparity in run differential after just 1 month (Astros -13, Yankees +37), you’d expect there to be a clear favorite in the series. But I’m not sure. The Astros have scored more runs than the Yankees (137 vs 122), but have the worst WHIP (1.63) and second worst FIP (5.1) in the league.

Can the Yankees’ lowest-esteemed pitchers (Warren, Weathers, Gil, and the bullpen) succeed against a good offense? If so, this team has a real shot in the postseason.
Can our lowest-esteemed hitters (all of ’em) succeed against bad pitching? If not, then it’s time to look for replacements.
