Let’s see if the 101 win/currently tied for first place Orioles are “legit” again. Lordy, Clarke Schmidt.
Hoch Gerrit Cole had “a good day” of throwing on flat ground, according to Aaron Boone. It is possible that Cole could resume tossing from a mound next week.
Perhaps it was like the time-honored reverse complaint. Perhaps Schmidt was saying that just to remind everyone that it’s really still a question – whether Baltimore’s really “legit” or not.
Or, as Brian might say – whether they’re “legit legit”! )))
The Mike Trout Revival has come to a halt, he needs knee surgery for a torn meniscus.

Guy could have been inner circle with total numbers but will never get there. Still a HOFer but he won’t ever catch the greatest. Too many injuries that started taking too many games too young.
Yankees and Judge leading the majors in DPs. I like it better when he leads in home runs
Whatever he’s doing, he just has that ability to be the best at it.
hahahaha
How is that even possible? (facepalm)
That DP was just bad luck, Rizzo couldn’t have hit it any harder.
Unlike that double against Nestor. Have to hope those things are going too correct themselves over the course of the… oh, you’re f*ing kidding me!
Baltimore D >> Yankees
That can’t be an earned run, can it?
UPD: right.
Oh, that’s nice. Finally.
Can’t take that one away from him. He’s been looking good at the plate.
every time I look up Soto is getting a hit
Look up even more
neck trouble
Priorities
it’s like you don’t really love us
DP ground ball but fortunately for Judge there were already two outs.
This is the craziest bad-luck game I’ve ever seen.
How many hard hits were outs – how many dumb ground balls JUST elude being outs? I mean, it’s only the 4th inning, and… oh, for Christ’s sake. So not Nestor’s fault. The Yankees have hit so much better this game than Baltimore…
They’re going to get swept all 4 games. They’re awed by the O’s magnificence as they see their own futility.
Wow that’s three hits in a row that were inches from outs.
Kremer should (would) not be dominating a good team
Yankees offense already planning on meeting up with Hixie for golf.
Oh, come on.
At least they won’t get shutout again.
I looked up again
Will the hitting coach last the year?
sucks cause Nestor looks pretty good. location mostly good, fastball getting whiffs, pitching fast, attacking, seems confident. easily could be 2-2.
2023 119 GDP, 2022 121, 38 so far this year on track for over 200.
tales of WOE indeed
This bench is so bad that they have nobody to hit for Grisham against a lefty.
Judge 1 GIDP, 1 K, 1 double play ground ball with 2 outs. Thirty games in?
Yeah, he gave signs and then fell back.
WAR: Gleyber -0.1, Rizzo 0.2, Stanton 0.2, Judge 0.8 at game 31 of the season.
Rortvedt 880 OPS Susie
At the start of this game didn’t they say Baltimore’s pen has been bad? They’ve shut us out thru 2 games.
And the Yankees go down meekly.
I was hoping for a split. Now I’ll be thrilled if they don’t get swept. What a pathetic offensive performance through the last two games.
Bees delay D’Backs – Dodgers game.
That was one of the worst games to watch I’ve ever watched.
As long as I watched it, that is (up until about the 6th).
{I’m posting this because I know it will prompt the world to “orphan” it with a new thread.}
Apparently I reversed jinxed my reverse jinx 😉
Stanton last 10 games, .700 OPS but a 36% K-rate.
Judge this season has a 13.7% GIDP rate on balls in play (non-HRs/Ks/BBs).
Chris, I presume that last number is dauntingly high?
Maybe, I haven’t really looked hard. So I just looked at the career leader in GDP, Albert Pujols, who had 426 in his career. His career rate is 4.5% and in his worst year was 6.8% as a 41 year old. Judge’s career average is 4.9% and his previous high was 8.2% in 28 games in 2020.
Quick look at the AL has a league average of 2.2% and the Yankees lead the AL at 4.0% by quite a bit. Only the Blue Jays are even in the 3s (3.3%).
2023 119 GDP, 2022 121, 36 so far this year on track for over 180 GIDPs. It’s mostly Judge who is on pace for 50 GIDPs compared to his norm of 10/15 per season. Jim Rice hold the record of 36. Hopefully it’s just bad luck since his GB% is about where it usually is.
gil day, yay
this the game they win big before the bats take tomorrow off again.
hope so
Can’t wait to see how they fail to score today.
Corbin Burnes.
Good pitcher, we’ll get ’em tomorrow.
Hoch “ 3B Jon Berti won’t play in a Minor League rehab game tonight because “his back locked up on him,” Aaron Boone said. The hope is that Berti can play tomorrow.”
Ha Ha.
