The Yankee strikeout a lot, and Miz leads the league in strikeouts, so…well…not an ideal matchup. Especially for Spencer Jones, making his Major League debut tonight.
But, hey, maybe the Yankees will surprise us! Or else the Yankees might be in second place after tonight.
Shouldn’t Judge DH?
Brandon Lockridge is a former Yankee prospect, right?
Damn, he fucking BLEW IT BY Grisham.
Maybe they should’ve held Spence out until Sunday. “SITTING 103?”
RIGHT?!!? He also blew it right by Rice. Crazy.
Rooting for a hamstring cramp for Mr Mxyzptlk
The check swing rule is so fucking stupid. Just use fucking lasers.
Great job so far, Fried.
I like it better when Fried doesn’t suck.
This is a crazily terrible performance by Fried.
Glad I missed that half inning.
Fried wasn’t great last out either
Up 5 giving up your body for a foul ball not worth it.
Lombard and phenom each 1-4 with a walk, Luciano (333/1118 in AA) 2-4
Two true outcomes down, Spencer, one to go.
Rays lose, finally.
First place for one more day.
Spencer wasn’t any worse at WOE than the rest of the lineup. 😎
Yeah, can’t begrudge anyone tonight, really. Miz just kicked ass.
This is sick
Jacob Misiorowski threw 10 pitches in the 1st inning:
102.4 MPH
103.0 MPH
102.8 MPH
102.7 MPH
103.2 MPH
103.3 MPH
103.3 MPH
103.5 MPH
103.1 MPH
103.6 MPH
The last is the fastest pitch by a starter since they started tracking.
Hmm didn’t realize this. Too early to sense a trend but need to keep an eye on this.

1-6 vs teams >=.500* (28th in MLB)
25-7 vs teams <.500* (3rd in MLB)
*opponent's season record entering Friday
Almost half of that was getting swept by the Rays. Discount them at your own risk.
That 1-6 record is so nonsense because a number of these teams are under .500 because the Yankees PUT THEM THERE (Seattle, Texas, and Baltimore).
And that record also changes depending on whether the A’s (who are barely over .500) happen to be over .500.
So it’s silliness.
It’s easier to say, “The Rays swept them, so they need to do better against the Rays.”
Would really like to see Jones play the field so he doesn’t think too hard about striking out, and also so Judge can have a breather amid the long season.
Of course, Judge at DH against a lefty would mean sitting either Rice or Goldy, unless you’re willing to have Rice catch.
They should sit him against LHP for the time being.
