From Thomas Harrigan:
One of the biggest surprises of 2025, Grisham set career highs in a number of categories this past season, including homers (34), RBIs (74), walks (82) and OPS (.811). That was a big step up from 2022-24, when he slashed .191/.298/.353 with 39 home runs in 381 games.
I mean, if this means they’re spending money, then I’m all for it, as I don’t see how Grisham can turn this down, and I wouldn’t mind keeping him for one more season. But if this is to avoid spending long term money on Tucker, fuck them so hard.
If you’re Michael King, do you take the Padres’ QO and have a healthy season and come back stronger next season?
Robert Suarez didn’t get a QO. He’s an interesting setup option. Pete Fairbanks didn’t get his option picked up by Tampa Bay (which makes their decision not to trade him look really dumb). He wouldn’t be bad, either.
If Grisham comes back, I guess you could sign Alonso and do a lefty righty platoon at first, with Rice being the primary catcher, and split Wells and Rice behind the plate against lefties.
Nah, that’s stupid.
