In all seriousness, as much as we get caught up in the drama of every single win or loss, we’re still early enough in the season that what I’m mostly still interested in this game is whether Ryan Weathers can show that he is good enough to stick in this rotation when Cole and Rodon return. That simple fact changes the trajectory of this team SO much, so it’s what I am most interested about during this game.
But, yes, it would also be nice if they could score a bunch of runs. Grichuk could try to actually get a fucking hit!
Not a great start!
No, it is not.
The Trout home run was forgivable, but obviously, you can’t give up back-to-back shots, dude.
No it is not, the guy is a walking injury.
THREE IN A ROW?!
Oh, come the hell on!
Well, he didn’t decide to avoid that 4 seamer.
The flaws in this team are beginning to emerge.
june came early
In all seriousness, I legit am more annoyed by the balls than the solo shots. They’re three good home run hitters, and two of them (Trout and Soler) are on hot streaks right now. But you can’t walk Vaughn Grissom, dude.
Well, this is fun.
Tipping? Or just terrible?
The stuff seems to be there, so tipping could be the case, yeah. They definitely did seem like they were waiting on pitches.
I was thinking the same.
All on one pitch, which makes it more likely, right? The kind of pitch you can definitely hit if you know it’s coming (a 4-seamer).
Weathers isn’t even home run prone! He gave up seven all of last season!
“They believe Bird will place a role during the course of the season.” Oh Good.
Maybe it’s less about the options than his career 12 Yankee and 6.32 Scranton ERA.
Batting practice pitcher?
Why is Judge taking that pitch?
Seemed kind of cocky, like he assumed Detmers was walking him.
What an insanely bad start. They hit back-to-back-to-back home runs, and the Yankees open the first by getting robbed of hits for the first two outs.
Grisham did not look too good on that fly ball.
Can they Weathers this storm? Or is WOE back?
Great, a 3-2 pitch to Mike fucking Trout on a heater.
Just walk him
This at-bat is insane. All of that for him to just take strike three?!
I liked the reduced number of home runs allowed that inning.
If it takes throwing 11 pitches to every batter…
They’re going to be in third place by the end of the night.
One excuse me ground ball away from 9 up 9 down.
Judge SMOKED his out in the first, though. It was just an amazing play by Moncada (who isn’t even good, so that was REALLY annoying).
How in the fuck does PERAZA have three home runs?!
Pereira has an early season OPS+ of 125
Without the benefit of the Yankees’ glorious hitting coaches?
Yankees bats tired from a one game explosion. WOE.
Yeah, honestly, while Weathers has obviously been bad, it’s not like he’s getting blown away. If they could score any fucking runs, they’d be right in this thing.
Grisham’s big thing this season has been his low chase rate, and so he obviously chases on ball four. Not that a two-out walk would have done anything, but still!
Trout has made Weathers work? Did he MAKE Weathers throw a ball at 2-2 to get to 3-2?
Yeah, weird phrasing.
I wonder what will come first, Grichuk’s first hit, or the heat death of the Sun.
How are you not using Yerry here?
Now that was where you challenge.
What were you saying about Blackburn yesterday?
You need more than 2 of your relievers to actually get people out. Ridiculous.
Even Blackburn is getting in on the stupid walks! Not you, too, Blackburn!
Seriously.
To be fair to Blackburn, he’s not the type of guy who’s used to pitching back-to-back days at this point, ya know?
That’s not much of an excuse, though, of course.
Well, at least I don’t have to watch this shit anymore.
That’ll do it for this game. A lot of these pitchers are who they are; you cannot make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear, and a couple of these guys are sow’s ears.
See, Blackburn is still kind of okay!
Bizarro Yankeeography
lol
McMahon bunting down 6 to get on and it was a Terrible bunt.
Reid Folken Detmers.
I mean, he’s thrown a no-hitter before, hasn’t he?
Lombard 2-4 with a double off Zack Wheeler, 469/1372. phenom 0/2 2Ks.
It’s all going to be okay, everyone, Grichuk got a hit!
They scored 11 runs last night. 10 came in on HRs. No HRs tonight, so only 1 run on a sac fly. Live by the HR, die by the HR.
Judge is going to make them work to keep him from getting a garbage time homer.
Global warming, the June swoon came early this year.
Everybody always talks about the Weathers, but nobody ever does anything about it.
Media had almost no questions for Boone.
Mr 15/15 now at 177/485
Yesterdays hero 154/650
Grichuk 063/243
Almost ROY 178/569
Uber 179/506
Little Mac 128/405
Nothing to see here.
Can we teleport Boone to a Waffle House?
smashed and scattered
Tyler Milliken: Willson Contreras is out of the game with a back issue. Jarren Duran flipped off a fan. Vibes are horrendous.
The Red Sox are contractually obligated to completely implode every 5-10 years
Katie S Ryan Weathers is the only pitcher this season with at least 4 games started and 0 runs of support.
He’s approaching Dangerfield tier.
No respect.
(Not even any Re2pect.)
you can’t stop the Angels, you can only hope to prevent them from scoring 9 runs
Way to ruin any happiness from yesterdays, nerks.
(The team, not you guys.)
