that’s an interesting point re: free-swinging Rockies org. I would imagine it’s an organizational philosophy thing perhaps identifying a league-wide need for a handful of free-swingers in the lineup who I presume provide high-contact. As the Rockies are in the feeder-team stage of their existence, this could be a great way to build the org out.

Lombard’s already lost his discipline. And we’ve seen Volpe vanish into thin air every time.
For some reason, Spencer seems qualitatively different, like he has the ability to adjust and re-adjust. I’m cautiously optimistic about him.
Somewhat agree but Lombard only recently turned 21 and has had only 100 ABs. We just don’t know what he’ll be. Volpe OTOH has had 4 years worth of chances.
Spencer’s history at every level of the minors has been to struggle a bit (about a month), make some adjustments, and then just fucking own everything at that level until he gets promoted. Looks like he’s starting to do that again.
Like, Spencer’s got a high barrel rate even though his batted balls aren’t regularly “squared up”, because he just has so much bat speed that he still hits it really hard. Now, he’s is already dangerous, as Clay Holmes could attest; but if the guy figures out how to reach even a league average squared-up rate, he could become, dare we dream, Judgian.
I think they’ve instructed him to take some off the swing, go for contact, which is really the best route for someone w/ major contact / K issues
