  2. Let’s hope George’s father taught him how to hit and can quickly fix any of the bad habits he learned in the Yankees’ farm system. Or else we’ll be here in two years calling for the promotion of Dax Kilby while Cashman explains why there was no need to match the Red Sox offer for Bobby Witt Jr.

    1. Yeah, he was very interesting, but even the other day when I talked about how hyped I was about him, I was thinking of him as more of a trade asset. I just wanted someone better than Heliot freakin’ Ramos for him.

    2. Yeah that’s the problem. Unless Judge is 100% coming back this is not a championship team so I’m not in favor of surrendering prospects for Heliot.

    3. I agree. The season hinges on Judge returning. It may simply have been that the outlook is somewhat bleak/unclear. If so, not going nuts at the deadline was the right move.

      Lalane was a great prospect to trade if simply bc of his injury history. I just like his numbers is all.

      Very happy they didn’t trade Dax. I think he’s better than Lombard.

    2. The Yankee ceiling is second wild card. Down six on the Rays, up six on Cleveland, 7 on The Twinkies for the third wild card.

    Man on 3rd no out and no runs. Worst managed team I’ve ever heard. I’d say seen but I haven’t watched this year. Because my heart health is more important than the Yankees.

  24. Any of you math nerd have the stats on the Yanks getting thrown out at home on the contact play? Seems like it’s happened dozens of times over the past few seasons.

  29. Man, Weathers would be incredible in the pen. Funky-ish delivery, max effort, would possibly play up. Either way, when Rodon comes back Weathers or Warren to the pen which should markedly improve the current BP situation.

  37. It’s fascinating watching these guys. Blake clearly has lessons ingrained in their head, but then you see them get rattled, and all the lessons go out the window. You can see it happen in real time. All the control goes by the wayside, and he’s just wasting pitches hoping he’ll get a swing.

    2. Brian, what was this play? I couldn’t follow the game live. Did Lombard screw something up?

First and second, no out, batter hits a hard groundball to Headrick, who tries to start a double play, but Lombard slips and falls down and thus no one is covering second, so Headrick had to go to first. So instead of at WORST, first and third and one out, and at best a runner at third with two outs, it was second and third with one out.

    4. Oof. But, devil’s advocate, maybe it was his way of preventing Headrick from making an errant throw into center field? After all, such foresight on the part of a legendary Yankees shortstop might have saved a WS title 25 years ago.

    1. I get it, too (but I’m able to get into the comments from the backend that you all can’t). I imagine my hosting company just throttles the traffic. I’ll give them an email, but I bet the reason is that, and I don’t know if there is a solution to “We throttle you when there’s too much of a load on the server.”

  52. Watch the first six, watch a show. FF thru the last 3. Survived a line drive, a Cruz meltdown and WOE. If phenom comes back up Lombard can move to 2b and 3b. What an infield that would be.

    2. It matters if Judge comes back by like the beginning of September. Otherwise I don’t see this team going far.
