  1. Peña long fly ball out. Altuve home run. First pitch swinging on Fried. Walker hard ground ball single. Fried got nothing so far. HBP on a 1-2 count.

  2. It would be interesting to look at what percentage of players come to the Yankees, either from the MiL or from other teams, and then play better for the Yankees. Especially discounting the very first month or three, before the local training sets in.
And then compare that to the same results for other teams.

  3. How bad is this team? Yankees with a lot of fly balls, but no hits against this sub replacement level.pitcher. I suppose they might back into a playoff spot but they’re clearly worse than the Jays, Boston, Seattle, Detroit or Houston.

  4. I don’t think this is fried choking, I think there’s something wrong with him and sooner or later we’ll find out he should have been on the IL.

  5. I was going back to read about the Williams trade and this caught my eye:

“Devin Williams has been on the Yankees’ radar for years, recalled general manager Brian Cashman, who said that each prior attempt to pry the right-handed closer from the Brewers met a dead end. The Bombers finally got their man on Friday.”

Cashman doesn’t get the right guy for the day, he always wants to go back to an old crush. GMs should be smarter than this. I could go on about how they don’t react to events properly, but it seems like they have an attitude that allows them to lose trades more and more because Cashman is just out of it.

You throw Durbin at 3rd for the year and we already have how many more wins?

    1. He’s been past his use by date since 2017. Who keeps a GM around for 26-27 seasons?

  6. I don’t care about right left, I’d much rather see PGold hit than Wells the unofficial worst hitter in baseball.
Houston brought in a RHP despite two LHBs due up. That’s how little they think of McMahon and Wells.

    1. He needs to trade places with Escarra and Rice should be the everyday catcher with PGold the everyday 1B. Wells is the worst hitter in baseball.

  7. Absolutely fitting that King strikes out the side. phenom despite a short hot streak is down to 217/700. Wells is the worst hitter in baseball and the Martian is a 250 singles hitting mediocre fielding left fielder.
The core four Jazz, Martian, Wells and phenom may well be the bizarro version of the Yankees late 90s, early 2000s Core Four and Five. This core four portends years of second division 500 or below baseball.

  8. Katie S The Yankees have allowed 201 runs since July 1.
The only teams that have allowed more runs in that span are the Rockies and Nationals.

Couple that with the 6th worse offense and whattya get?

  9. If you’re the owner and you have a has-been GM and a never-was manager (who had shown time and again he’s clueless) why would you agree to let these guys cost him millions year after year?

    1. Attendance is good, YES ratings are up, he’s making money. That’s the problem.

    2. Yeah but if you’re a business owner you plan ahead. Missing the playoffs costs you profit. Miss it enough and attendance drops. Ok he’s making money but doesn’t every owner want to make more?

  10. 54 games is a full 1/3 if a season. 23-31. Which is a 69-win pace. This isn’t a slump. This is just a bad team. Of course we can probably find 4-5 games Boone blew with terrible managing (2 in the last week) but even so that only puts them at a 500 pace for 1/3 of the season. They just aren’t very good with a C and SS who can’t hit, a rookie LF not playing great, an over the hill 1b, etc. etc

Hal please wake up before it’s 2032 and judge is retiring with no WS wins.
