Who even cares about these losers right now?
Bird and Cody 1-28 in Boston.
Yankees go down meekly in first. Weathers has allowed 5 hits thru 1.1 and a Cabby error. Yankees 15 unearned runs in last 9 games, they’re 2-7.
Yankees defense playing like the Mets defense.
Five runs is too much to overcome, and one more game remains in June after this one.
They really don’t deserve a game thread. What fucking losers.
Weathers is a very bad version of AJ Burnett. Two on, two out top of second, five runs (so far) seven hits. This team is falling apart. They looked overmatched in the bottom of the first, Cabby made an error on an easy throw.
Stanton should be back any day now. 😏
Yankees in June Last 4 Seasons
2026: 12-13 (projected)
2025: 13-14
2024: 14-13
2023: 11-12
Yankees 7-77 RISP. Not a tiny sample.
Most disappointing for the year Jazz
Most disappointing 25-26
Most disappointing prospects tie phenom and Martian
Jasson, easily.
Great play, a play phenom will never make.
I was wondering why it hadn’t felt particularly June-ish until now.
Austin Wells the needle and the damage done.
I had a big bet Mize three perfect to start the game
Yes Mike, how did Wells do guiding Cruz thru the 10th last night?
Jones with a leadoff double, then nothing. RISP, R.I.P.
7-80 now
Jazz catching World Cup fever.
Oh my f*ing God.
Seriously?
You were wondering what it would take to get Boone to actually put poor Waldo in a game?
Now you know.
Eh tu Cody
Jesus. Just forfeit this game before they’re all dead.
Palet cleanse Ken Burns Baseball innings 7 and 8
Soto just played a little fly ball into an inside-the-parker for Springer, of all people.
On the other hand, his decision to leave the Yankees is looking a lot better these days.
Hollywood is remaking Freaky Friday in which the 62 Mets come back to life and take over The Yankees bodies.
Can’t anybody here play this game?
It’s not every manger who when the team isn’t hitting benches his best hitter.
I would’ve preferred a one hit shutout. Seems more appropriate.
The fourth 3 hit game in a row is kind of cool. Katie S will have a field day. Maybe Boston’s pitchers weren’t that good. Maybe!
From Katie S — This is the first time in franchise history the Yankees have 3 hits or fewer in 4 straight games.
Katie S
Yankees last 4 games:
38 strikeouts, 12 hits, 8 walks
Yankees are the first MLB team since at least 1898 to have a 4-game span with:
✅ at least 38 K
✅ 12 hits or fewer
✅ 8 walks or fewer
It is a remarkable team right now.
More Katie Yankees now have 14 unearned runs allowed in their last 5 games.
That is their most in any 5-game span since July 1990.
Ah, THAT’S what I was feeling this last week. Some classic 1990 Stump Merrill-esque vibes right here. We just need Schlittler to take the loss with a no-hitter tomorrow to complete the transformation. I mean, he had the unearned runs to do it last time. Tomorrow would be only 1 day off the July 1st, 1990 anniversary.
Ah the glory days of Jim Leyritz and Mell Hall.
no hit loss LET’S GO
After telling the kids to get off his lawn Jorge weighs in on today’s baseball
Posada said today’s game has become too robotic, too obsessed with formulas, and too accepting of strikeouts.
“The baseball being played today is garbage,” Posada said.
He also pushed back hard on the analytics crowd trying to judge Derek Jeter’s defense strictly through modern numbers.
“You can’t judge Jeter through a computer.”
Now? Guys can strike out constantly, hit 30 home runs, bat .202, and still get paid like stars.
you know, I’ve seen Posada play defense and run the bases
… and as bad as his defense and baseruining were, Jorge would still do them better than most of this squad. And hell, given how bad Wells is at the plate, they would be better off signing Posada to play catcher for the rest of this season.
For close to a decade Posada was a C with an OBP near 400 and SLG near 500. I’ll take that over every C the yanks have had since, despite his ridiculously bad baserunning.
I’d take Thurman Munson’s corpse over any catcher on the roster this season
Talkin yanks
Aaron Boone tells us Trent Grisham and Ryan McMahon will play rehab games with Somerset tomorrow, then will be activated on Friday
And Stanton?
Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton to face Max Fried as both players continue injury recovery.
https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/new-york-yankees/yankees-news-giancarlo-stanton-face-max-fried-as-both-players-continue-injury-recovery
Stanton vs fried in batting practice? The mostly like outcome of an at bat isn’t a HR or strikeout. It’s an injury to one of them. Probably Stanton.
https://www.mlb.com/news/aaron-judge-fractured-rib-reimaging-update
When Anthony Volpe is your number 5 hitter, you are no longer a major league team.
When Volpe is your starting SS for a 4th year you’re not a serious major league team.
Boom!
Are they losing yet?
Curry went thru some of the pitches the Yankees missed in the first inning.
O/U hits 4.5. Runs 1.5
Butterfingers. When something goes wrong.
Why is Weathers pitching on no rest?
Great job, Cam! Two quick outs on 7-pitches, then this disaster, and now at 36 pitches.
Losing has become the norm.
These fucking losers all decide to slump at the same exact time. It is fucking insane.
Cam gets the first two outs out on 7-pitches, then disaster. Unfathomable stuff.
Even BEFORE the home run, the Torkelson at-bat was highly concerning, as he was up 0-2 and could NOT put him away.
That said, and I don’t mean this as an excuse at all, as fuck these guys, but this schedule is fucking insane. Why are they playing the same team in back to back weeks? What’s the point of THAT?
Now for a quick three up and three down response.
Okay, so Rice made a mistake and hit a HR.
If he could wake up at all, that would be huge for future games. Not tonight, of course, but future games.
Jasson, 207/641. Switch hittng Volpe.
Tonight’s clean up hitter? Not possible. And phenom after a good stretch, as always happens with him, 059/158/118 over the last 7 games and average at best defense.
I’m down on Cam big time for the last two games, but I think maybe there is something to be said for the excessive heat making the ball carry further than normal.
Problems Cole also hasn’t looked good the last few.
Heat is kind of the biggest predictor of how the air density (and therefore how much more/less the ball carries) but it’s not the only thing. Wind, barometric pressure, relative humidity and air density are all part of it.
You can use that to calculate density altitude. For every 1,000 feet of density altitude the ball carries roughly an extra 4 feet. Detroit tonight is playing around 2,700 feet of density altitude. Ball is carrying about 10 feet compared to average.
Those bombs the Tigers hit went 410 to center (Carpenter), 424 to right (Greene), 405 to left (Torkleson), 404 to right-center (Green again). First and the last may very well have died on a cooler day. Greene (1) and Torkleson shots were going out no matter what.
A few bloggers were bragging on phenom during his good spell. Spring 2024 he looked like an all star.
I think Cam has a pretty good curve. I don’t know why he never throws it.
phenom should always be batting 8 or 9 or sitting on the bench. In other news Lombard still hurt Judge, Stanton, Grisham and 2 of our top 5 prospects on the IL.
Cam decided that he didn’t want to start the All-Star Game or win the Cy Young.
I don’t get why they don’t just pull him. Let Yarbs finish it out.
Everyone’s ticket got punched for the Suck Train.
This is one of the worst lineups the Yankees have started since the bad days.
Thankfully, we have three hitting coaches. 🤔
How many losses in a row before they fire Boone? Or am I dreaming?
The latter.
One hit so far, going for a new record. It is within your grasp, boys!
speaking of the no hit loss earlier, i think this was taken in the late 1980s – i have had it since forever. just unpacked from a move, i think ill give it a nice spot. and maybe find a cold bud and some reds to make it through the rest of this game.

“I’m down on Cam big time for the last two games, but I think maybe there is something to be said for the excessive heat making the ball carry further than normal.”
But only for the other team. Didn’t know physics could work that way.
Rice hit a home run, too, and he’s terrible right now.
Emm yes. I think the lone accidental home run can be taken as a fluke.
Or more seriously – the fact that it’s such a lonely outlier should make it a clear argument FOR my point, not against it.
Okay, big comeback now, boys!
(Sorry)
Two hits would be a big comeback.
Wow, four hits! They did it! U-S-A, U-S-A!
Four hits!!! The needle is moving at the speed of light! There’s a lot,of pluses tonight to build on.
Five straight games with 4 or fewer hits.
Record-breaking! From Katie S —
❎Yankees 16 hits in their last 5 games is the fewest hits in any 5-game span in franchise history
❎Yankees 5 straight games with 4 hits or fewer is the longest streak in franchise history
It’s a privilege to live in such historic times.
Have they had a lead in innings 1 through 9 in any of the last 6 games?
Yankee rotation 7.06 era last 5 games.
More from Katie S —
MLB teams since at least 1898 to have a 5-game span with 0 wins, 45+ strikeouts and 16 or fewer hits:
2026 Yankees
[end list]
Boone acts like it’s a normal slump.
At least they avoid Joe Ryan against Minnesota. Could you even IMAGINE?
Can you get negative hits?
Kirschner
Goldschmidt: 0 for his last 14
Rice: 5 for his last 41
Domínguez: 2 for his last 17
Volpe: 5 for his last 30
Caballero: 5 for his last 35
Bellinger: 3 for his last 30
Chisholm: 1 for his last 15
Wells: Entire season
That’s hideous.

It’s a new month baby! Time to shine!
Soon, they will get Judge, Stanton, Grisham, and McMahon back as well as Fried. It’s like a trade deadline miracle.
I guess if you have to pick a time for all your pitchers to get shelled, maybe it’s best to have it overlap with your offense’s all-time-record slump.
Weak lineup and guys playing out of position. He plays Jones against Skubal but sits him today?
B Rice (L) 1B
J Domínguez (S) RF
C Bellinger (L) LF
A Rosario (R) DH
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
A Volpe (R) SS
A Wells (L) C
J Caballero (R) CF
O Cabrera (S) 3B
Until they realize Austin Wells, Catcher is not the answer this team is going nowhere.
Spencer Jones food poisoning.
“food poisoning”
I’d be getting puke-drunk too if I played on this team
McMahon, too.
lol
I like that it’s a day game today so we have the chance to watch this team eat shit in the sun, rather than under the lights for a change.
E coli or Dysentery are certainly a possibility.
everyone is accustomed to the franchise giving run to an overpaid vet but volpe can’t play shortstop, he doesn’t have the arm this year. wells can’t hit. do we have to get them going or can we try something else, ever?
I suppose the plan is when some outfielders get back, Cabby gets the job.
Some other players have food poisoning. Maybe that’s the problem they’ve had food poisoning the whole month.
A scoreless first. Who knew such things were possible.
The first 4 Tiger hitters would all be hitting in the 1-5 positions on the Yankees.
Was Rosario clutching his back as he crossed first?
Paul O’Neill has never struggled like Wells has all year. Paul’s worst day would be a renaissance for Wells.
The needle seems stuck.
I have some respect for the Tigers for not having a ridiculous, contrived, marketing department approved post HR celebration in the dugout like every other insanely dorky team.
Amen.
I approve of this message
I think in a couple of years McGonigle 284/823 might be ready to contest phenom to be the starting All Stat AL SS.
Oswaldo is one of the few people on the planet who could join this team now and make it hit worse.
i think he’d hit better than volpe but none of these fringes AAAA types seem to have the ability to come up, rot on the bench for a week, and then do anything.
they’re such losers right now it’s almost hard to get worked up about it though.
Last 7 games before today Yankees hitting 127 with an OPS 396. Rays same period 313/1001
At least they aren’t threatening to be no hit. 😏
Jasson, 217/649.
Ooh! A double.
Volpe does what Volpe does.
phenom tries to bunt 2 out, man on 2nd, Wells up next. That’s waving the white flag..
The needle needs a new transmission, it’s stuck in neutral 153/488. I mean JC is not this bad 188/510. On second thought, maybe he is..
Payton Tolle 6/26 vs Yankees 7ip 0r 1h 7Ks
Today vs Nats 3ip 6r 7h 5Ks
MLB Pitchers sing “I wish they all could be The New York Yankees.”
Boone is so erratic. The other day he uses Schumann in center and he played the position well. Today he uses Cabby so he can get phenom’s and Waldo’s bats in the lineup. Cabby fucked up that throw.
Re-le-ga-tion (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)
Lombard is going to the futures. Big whoop. When is he going to be healthy?
Can we send Volpe and Wells back to the futures?
They say they haven’t been able to run enough simulations to duplicate Dimaggio’s 56 game streak. How many simulations would it take to replicate this offensive awfulness?
phenom’s OPS 669 almost exactly at his career OPS 669
2023 thru present 666-657-663-669
Lookin back should Boone have used Headrick 1.5 era over Cruz against the Boston lefties in the bottom of the tenth last week for the save?
2 straight hits!
At least Martian, unlike Rice, had a good AB. Just got unlucky.
Oh good. Now they can lose 2-1 instead of 2-0.
tying run in scoring position for phenom!
Nice slide phenom
Hate that bunt in front of Waldo
And it was an awful bunt, sheer luck that it wasn’t an out at third.
Is Doval on the team just to make Boone secure that at least there’s one person in the organization more incompetent than he is?
“Doval who has been pitching well as of late,” in ZERO LEVERAGE situations Michael. Are there any stats that show how many games a player has had a hand in winning or losing the game. Doval is the biggest POS choke artist I can remember. We’ve had worse pitchers but not bigger fucking choke artists.
Has he ever had a good outing with the game on the line? I don’t think so.
Doval for the loss!
Base runners were 13/13 stealing against Anderson. phenom 14th would’ve been the 14th except he got thrown out on a for shit slide.
I don’t know how he managed to be out.
You could see he should have been there before the ball.
This is one amazing team right now. Amazing. Incredible.
I thought he started his slide too soon.
Doval 6 Game-Tying/Go-Ahead PA allowed in 8th inning or later this season, most on Yankees.
When Boone is asked about something he just recaps. “Anead 0-2 on Lee, couldn’t get back in the zone, Lee spoiled a tough slider(wasn’t that tough)” Didn’t pinch hit PGold for Waldo because he believes in Waldo.
How many outs need to be given up by sliding over the bag before coaches point out that oversliding the bag is just as much of an out as getting there late?
What coaches?
Boone now 1-5 in xtras.
Katie S Yankees during 7-game losing streak:
17 runs scored, 17 unearned runs allowed
Teams in last 100 years to have a 7-game stretch in a season with 7 losses, 17+ unearned runs allowed and 17 or fewer runs scored:
2026 Yankees
1989 Tigers
Setting and tieing records; Boone and his staff should be proud.
wow, tying the 59-103 tigers!
i thought we had a chance for a minute.
That’s the funniest part. They actually were able to do that – and still get utterly stomped on.
Looks like June wasn’t the problem.
Let’s be honest, the minor league system has failed again. So many failures and so few successes.
i’m still in on the martian, he’s been derailed by freak injuries. jones i like. tbh they just don’t give some people a chance and hold on to others too long (gil, volpe, wells)
One great player, Judge. And the rest since 2016?
could they give jason heyward 50k to hit the baseball performance lab to see if he can turn back the clock matt carpenter style?
or give volpe 50k to open a chicken parm joint?
Since Boone took over every young hitter other than judge has failed. Even when they start off like all stars (Gleyber, Sanchez)l they never improve and only get worse. Some come up and have challenges immediately but don’t ever get past it (Volpe, Jasson). At some point you have to blame the manager, no?
And judge pretty much said he listens to his outside coaches.
And the hitting coach(es)
Does anyone here think that cashman can do the right thing to fix this team? Last year he “fixed” the bullpen by trading for Doval, Bird and Bednar. While Bednar has been fine the other two have Negative WAR since joining the Yankees. Seriously they would have been better off with replacement level players! And that’s the guy the owner trusts to fix the team? He’s well past his sell date and much like his Boone hire, most things he does don’t work other than spending gobs of money on the best free agents. And if not for Judge being the best Yankee since Mickey mantle, this team would have been unwatchable this entire decade.
But I thought we had a genius of a pitching coach? I guess he isn’t; you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

If only we had a manager. From Katie S —
Aaron Boone an alternate past
https://x.com/betmgm/status/2072421061124063254?s=61
I sometimes wonder – I’m not even entirely kidding – whether teams might do something in the visiting clubhouse.
We KNOW things teams have actually done – the camera in the outfield with signals being given for the “shot heard round the world” Giants, the Astros, all the Bellichek stuff, and the drugs.
Is it possible teams might use… there’s a ton of technology out there. There’s the food in the visitors’ clubhouse. There’s infrasound. All kinds of stuff. Stuff with lingering effects. Stuff that might make the visiting team perform suddenly worse – in the first games of this slump the Yankees just couldn’t throw to the right base – even really smart fielders like Bellinger. They were just out of it.
Is this just highly improbable, or is it completely ridiculous?
We don’t play today, we can’t lose today. Dassit!
