  1. I’ve was saying all off-season that Grisham can’t be expected to repeat last season, but even still, at this point, what you can realistically expect from Grisham makes him one of their best hitters.

    McMahon… not so much.

  3. I’d like them to see if they can hide Rosario in right field once McMahon is back.

    Then sit McMahon and play Dominguez in right against lefties.

    Rosario is the only guy who is even SLIGHTLY hitting.

    1. Agree, but sit Wells, and play Rice at catcher. Keep Goldy at DH till Stanton or Judge is back. Move Belli from LF to 1B, Grisham in LF, and keep Spencer in CF.

    2. Pretty good. Less valuably I’d add that these strategies will be more effective if literally everybody would go back to not just plain, straight-out sucking to their normal selves.

  4. Wait – you’re suggesting Boone made a tactical mistake? He never makes a mistake! Just ask cashman who also never makes a mistake.

    1. It was just so odd seeing him insist that if he had pinch hit Goldy, then Goldy would have had to play third in the 11th. NO, DUDE, that’s very much NOT what that means! It was just NUTS.

    3. I haven’t been following these games very closely, but Boone’s latest ‘tactic’ should get him fired by itself. If your manager is that clueless regarding basic baseball strategy he has no business managing. Seriously, if this organization was ever serious about winning (obviously they’re not, OBVIOUSLY) they would replace him.

  6. I’m still thinking of how virtually EVERYBODY could fall off a cliff at once. Everybody. At once. Not just hitting, but pitching, too. Not just on offence, but fielding, too.
    I know that last post in the last thread was nuts, but… is it nuts?

      Camilo Doval entered today allowing a .350/.391/.550 line to left-handed batters this season.

      That was before allowing a bases-clearing single to lefty Zach McKinstry in the 11th.

    3. Doval is excellent in low leverage situations.OPS against 418, not so much in medium and high leverage situations 1040.

    rice would have been a great option at catcher had they given him any run in spring training or since

    wells needs to get sent down to learn to hit, volpe to learn 2b and also hit

    sucks if jones gets sent down imo

    and what are they “thinking” with the pen?

    1. Savant puts phenom at 80 percentile fielding run value, 92 on range but 18 on arm strength.

    2. Yeah, I feel like not using Rice at catcher is one of the most inexplicable decisions of this year. Sure, it increases injury risk but this is one of those no-brainer moves that fixes a black hole position at minimal cost. You get Rice at C, Goldschmidt at 1B and you still have DH open for someone that is 1000000% better than Austin Wells / JC Escarra / Ali Sanchez.

      One thing is for sure: Cashman is a genius. We can’t question the brain trust. Er, brain-dead trust.

  8. Wilson Contreras is a piece of work. He tried to start something the other day over a not that inside pitch. The townies had a bases clearing melee with the Nats and Contreras’ suspension was elevated because he violated a league rule on using social media during a game. Contreras was ejected but went on Instagram to reply “COME MEET ME AT FENWAY” to a fan who insulted him while the game was still in progress.

    1. Soon we will need a list of who isn’t on the IL, it will be shorter than who is on IL.

  10. Happy 250th birthday to those who celebrate. I do. I hope no one takes offense but as a Jew there has never been a country as welcoming to my people as this one.

    Also any country that gave us baseball, and allowed my favorite baseball team to win 27 WS – including 7 in my 55 years of fandom – is pretty good.

  11. MLB reporting shoulder for Lagrange tho Scranton manager, like a true Yankee, is downplaying the injury. Somehow the Yankees 1, 2, and 4 prospects in addition to Judge, Stanton, Fried, and Grisham are on the IL.
