I assume it’s a long range thing. They don’t want to wear Rice out and he’ll starting getting reps behind the place in August or September so he’ll be fresh for the wild card game.

And coming into the season, closer seemed to be the one role in the bullpen that didn’t need an upgrade.

They should just play Wells and Volpe every day.
