I don’t want to exaggerate TOO much, but if the Yankees can’t beat Patrick Corbin, then they are probably fucked.
Vlad with only 3 HRs this season. Odds are the Yankees will at least double his total, and he leaves after the 4-game series with at least a season total of 6. Worked for Trout, who had 5 of his 11 in a 4-game series against the Yankees earlier this season.
Good D JC PB
YES had me so confused on Okamoto. I was, like, “I’m pretty sure he swung at that first pitch” but they had it as a ball. And then he struck out on a 2-1 pitch according to them.
Should they maybe not lead Goldy off against lefties if he keeps hitting leadoff homers?
Leadoff HR. Followed by a Rice 2B, then three unclutch AB, same as ever.
Got out of the gait quickly.
Yanks seem to be getting a lot of check swing calls in their favor lately.
Who is the new guy?
I wonder if there is anything to be said for Volpe playing some third when Caballero returns.
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE, though, that you don’t get there faster sliding headfirst?
Friction.
Trust in JC, but verify.
With Schuemann hitting a bit, it sure does seem hard to imagine why they won’t let Rice catch. Escarra appears to be a waste of a roster spot.
I assume it’s a long range thing. They don’t want to wear Rice out and he’ll starting getting reps behind the place in August or September so he’ll be fresh for the wild card game.
JC es NB
Well that wasn’t good.
More of that Yankees unclutch hitting.
They just can’t be THIS good at getting on base and continually fail to score runs. It has to eventually even out.
Maybe in 2027.
If they’re getting dominated by Patrick fucking Corbin, will they score negative runs the next two days?
God that sucked
Okay, it’s going to be like that.
Well, I guess the Blue Jays still own the Yankees. That’s a shame.
The Yankees get tons of guys on, and nothing to show for it, while the Jays get two out three run home runs from slap hitters in slumps.
That’s just how it apparently is going to go.
Nice loss, boys. Oh, its is still early? No, it is late.
On to The Abyss. Four good hitters on the team and two are first baseman .A Four A relief staff. A career 74 OPS+ middle infielder playing out of position in left field.
Maybe Judge will get a meaningless HR, or single. Whatever.
Escarra is hitting into a double play
Helluva slide phenom.
PGold ain’t toast yet.
At this point, he’s gotta be your everyday first baseman, right?
Yankee pitchers making hitters healthy since 3/27. Yankee hitters making pitchers into aces since 3/27.
Guys not hitting HRs come to the Stadium and hit HRs. Great staff.
Weathers fitting right in to the Yankee/Blue Jays rivalry by choking hard in this game.
Speaking of choking hard, what the fuck is up with this Judge slump?
AND this Belli slump. These guys sure love to slump in bunches. It can’t be one guy this week, one guy that week, they all have to do it at the same time.
That inning spoke well to the dynamic between the two teams. Judge and Rosario both hit the shit out of those balls, but right at guys.
Toronto just owns them.
Why is Blackburn still on this team?
To give us agita?
Rays up 15-4. Yankees soon to be 5 behind in the loss column.
His biggest start of the season, and Weathers just shits the bed.
There’s a reason he’s 14-25 in his career.
Fisher is SO bad. Their inability to hit him is insane.
So Volpe strikes out on ball three. Argh.
He believed in the strike zone for two games.
I guess Grisham is benched benched? That they wouldn’t use him against a righty was notable.
Lean into a pitch, escarra! Just get Goldy up against the lefty.
Just get Eric Kratz out of retirement. SOMEone has to be able to hit better than Escarra.
Wells!
You can keep ONE defense only catcher. But two is just too many, especially when they both bat from the same side of the plate.
This is just goddamn embarrassing.
where the hell is Jones?
I hate when they do this shit
Great 2-out rally, and then Cruz walks the leadoff hitter.
Cole’s next start could be in Bronx after touching 99.6 mph at Triple-A
https://www.mlb.com/news/gerrit-cole-could-be-activated-by-yankees-during-next-homestand
Cruz ends up striking out the side.
I brought some good luck by turning off the game. Should I watch the ninth?
How’s your blood pressure?
I broke the machine, only goes up to 300.
Bednar and the 1.55 WHIP. DID Clement bail him out?
Didn’t matter. Bednar needed to walk him.
Bednar walking his first batter. Just what you expect from your closer.
Bednar is the pits. Anyone who compares him to Wetteland needs to stop watching baseball.
Rice fails to get the tack on run in, Bednar looking bad again.
This is just hilariously stupid. Give him a single fucking day, ya know?
Think I’ll watch the news. It suck less than Bednar.
Bednar sounds like an alien name from a cheap 1950s sci-fi film.
What is Boone doing?! Bednar has completely lost it!
He just walked the #9 hitter, and they are somehow not warming anyone. Hill should obviously be in the game now.
Over 20 pitches already. I think we know how this is gonna end.
Going to Hades Town with Bednar, a new Broadway show coming soon.
Whoa, 32 pitches, as he falls behind Vlad, Jr. 2-0.
Never in doubt
Holy shit, what a fucking win. This was practically the exact opposite of the Mets loss. The Blue Jays fans must be in AGONY after this one.
And on his 36th pitch, Bednar the Munificent gets Vlad to ground out and end this. Exhale, exhale.
Boone played it completely correctly. 😉
Boone is an idiot and even had Bednar blown it he’d have his usual Alfred E Newman response of “he’s our closer and some tough pitches blah blah blah”. That it worked out is a minor miracle.
This team is going nowhere. Give yourselves a life and watch something else more entertaining like C-Span or flowers growing or the spot in your bathroom tile that looks like a fish.
The under-appreciated Robot Monster or Conehead.
I had to turn it off to rescue Bednar. Looking under the hood his WHIP is 1.62 and era 5.14.
I Survived Bednar 5-18-26.
Just watched the rest of the 9th. Glad I didn’t watch it live. 3-0 to Springer.
Can you IMAGINE as a Blue Jays fan watching Springer strike out after being up 3-0 and then Bednar throwing THREE STRAIGHT BALLS after that?!
It was only 14 months ago that the Pirates sent Bednar to the minors.
According to Otto, and what I thought, Springer swung at Zero Strikes.
The Mets score 10 in the 12th inning.
Katie S David Bednar has allowed at least 1 run in 11 of 21 games this season. That’s tied with Matt Svanson for the most in MLB.
That doesn’t seem good.
And coming into the season, closer seemed to be the one role in the bullpen that didn’t need an upgrade.
The team that wins when it should lose and loses when it should win.
They should just play Wells and Volpe every day.
