Annoying Blue Jays are 2-0 due to walk offs againt the shitty Athletic bullpen, so it would be nice to win this one to exit Opening Day weekend on a high note.
Will Warren’s results here will say a LOT about the shape of this Yankees rotation.
Aaron Judge no walks in 10 PAs. That doesn’t happen often.
Meh, with a BB rate of 18-19% (let’s call it 19% to err on the side of rarity), assuming all PA’s are independent then the chance of no BB’s in 10 PA’s is (0.81)^10 = 12% chance. Seems not that uncommon at all, as if it should be expected to occur 80-90 times in a season.
VJ bringing the antique RLYW vibe!
Self destruction seemed imminent but avoided.
Bellinger!
Because Grisham wasn’t in scoring position, of course.
And Rice proves me wrong!
Awesome.
Rice! An essential part of The San Francisco Treat.
Though those who know will insist that Garlic Noodles from Thanh Long are much more worthy of the title.
The Yankees are leading the league in making outs at home.
Especially if you count Judge’s strikeouts.
DFA Warren.
Warren, that’s exactly what you DON’T do right after your team gives you a lead, you dipshit.
And then Warren goes and strikes out The Guy Who Doesn’t Strike Out.
That’s Baseball, Suzyn.™
Is GD saying the Ramos is cold on middle and low outside pitches, but red hot on pitches on the very edges of the strike zone middle and low outside?
Unexpectedly nice recovery by Warren after the lousy beginning to that inning.
Rise.
Judge!
[sound of pin dropping]
PING!
The Yankees have this odd knack of winning while leaving you feeling like they’re losing.
That Ramos groundball finding a hole was so annoying!
I am glad that they spent all of that time teaching Rice to play first base!
ABS challenge system is amazing.
How did Grisham not take third base on Judge’s weak grounder?!
That’s not going to get you more at-bats against lefties late in the game, Rice.
To be fair, the same pitcher also halved Judge’s exit velo.
JT Brubaker being effective against the Yankees pisses me off so much.
Tim fucking Hill!
You won’t succeed in San Francisco if you can’t handle a Hill.
I am so sick of the fucking Arraez ballwashing because he puts the ball in play a lot.
Was this when Smoltz praised his “flexibility” and took shots at SABRmetrics? I was screaming about how he’s basically the least flexible player in baseball. he literally only hits singles!
Wow, that was awful by Bednar. You can’t throw that pitch after the strike is overturned.
Bednar dicks around SO MUCH.
Not sure why Ramos hasn’t tried to take second.
Smoltz is seriously trying to hype up the Giants as they get swept. It’s hilarious.
Yay sweep! Yay infield! Yay Rice!
Now let’s see how the pitching staff does against an MLB opponent.
Maybe I’m being a bit harsh. The Giants, at least on paper, have a legit offense. But ever since *their* nepo-baby billionaire chairman said out loud that their “goal is to somewhat break even” it’s been tough to believe that their organization is trying to win a championship.
Anyway, what I meant is, let’s see how the pitchers hold up against a team that’s actually trying, one they could actually face in October.
