I mean, it won’t work, but let’s try, “Hey, guys, don’t suck tonight!”
Elfin throws strikes=the Yankees are in trouble.
Verdugo:
Now THAT’S what you want from a lead-off hitter – see lots of pitches, get things started.\
Jerk.
Judge been channeling Stanton lately
That was a solid inning by the hitters.
Oh, my. These poor, poor, sad Yankees.
Wow a lot of Yankee stupid recently. Volpe, DJ and now Rice.
Wait, did Volpe just get a hit?
Well, there goes their chance to finally get a stolen base! (j/k)
Great tag
What a tag!
And the throw, actually. We still don’t know what happened with Trevino, but it might have been short-term.
Only the Yankees wouldn’t steal on Trevino.
Is it my imagination, or has Soto completely given up on the opposite field?
Is the hand injury Soto suffered adversely affected his hitting? I think a perusal of the games since indicates it has, 8 games, 5 hits, 2 XBH. Hopefully it is just short term. (Plus a. hit tonight).
I prefer May-June Judge to July Judge.
Nice to see the Yankee offense finally clicking.
Slightly better route and Volpe might have had that. But it’s not the outfield, just a second or so to choose.
Yankee rally
How useless is Stroman that he tires in the fifth fucking inning?
And for one of the smarter starters on the team, he sure pitched dumb this inning. Falling behind the number nine hitter 3-1 with no outs?!
And it had to be Rortvedt who scored.
These useless, useless pieces of shit starters, none of whom know how to put away any hitter.
Stroman era last 28 days before tonight 6.48 era.
How were they so good for so long?
Sure, three hits in the inning, leave him in! You’re a genius, Boone!
Thank goodness he left him in for that! Can’t you pull him after two pitches nowhere near the plate?
The team is bad. Stroman is bad. Stroman is a team player.
How old is Hill? He looks 50.
Got lucky, that was hit hard.
You know me, I like Hill. Wasn’t expecting THAT, though!
Rank these three Rodon, Stroman, Yankee offense.
Stink, stank, stunk.
Is 4 hits a good or bad showing?
I like Rice, but he’s gotta get better acquainted with the MLB strike zone. Takes way too many strikes.
When’s the last time Rice got a non home run hit? I hope home runs are not on his mind.
They have no good relievers to bridge to Holmes (who likely will also suck), so this is going to be rough.
When Judge isn’t hitting this team is dead team walking…..or striking out or hitting into double plays.
This isn’t going to end well, is it.
Ben Rortvedt. Always Ben fucking Rortvedt.
Is his success just bad luck or does our player development suck?
I’m going with bad luck, as he was awful in Minnesota, too.
blind squirrel finds 1-run nut
Michael Kay was so nervous it’s hilarious.
Trent Grisham made this win possible, offensively and defensively.
YAY WIN.
But I’d just assume fire Cashman+Boone and blow up the team right now. You could get some talent for Holmes, Soto, Volpe, Nestor, maybe Gleyber.
They need to get some contracts off of the books and start again and the people running the show are losers.
I wouldn’t brag about this game. We didn’t hit and I wouldn’t count on the relievers to keep allowing baserunners and then pull a Wetteland.
This game felt like delaying the inevitable. Rays 0/10 RISP.
In a battle of two inept offences the Yankees were slightly less inept (although the winning run was unearned).
Interesting watching RISP fail from the other side.
I’ve watched RISP fail from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It’s CT rallies I recall
I really don’t like this team, at all
Heh. I’m imagining you busking in Laurel Canyon all summer long.
Although the funny thing is I like this team more than I’ve liked it in a long time. I really like Rice, Volpe, Soto, Schmidt, both catchers really, Nestor, Judge, watching Gil get it together was amazing. Add Dominguez.
“Like” in the direct sense of “like,” not “think they’re going to win.” On the other hand, I really did see this team was more for real than the 2022 team… yet here we are.
