In all seriousness, it is nice that they actually called up Ben Rice. I forgot that they had an open 40 man spot from when they last DFAed Kevin Smith. So we still don’t know how Pereira’s IL is handled, vis a vis the 40-man roster. With Cody Poteet and Ian Hamilton both headed to the IL, the Yankees called up Clayton Andrews, which was expected, but also resigned Anthony Misiewicz to the Major League roster. I’m somewhat intrigued by how Misiewicz will respond to a full season with the Yankees’ pitching system. Not that intrigued, of course, Effross and Brubaker are heading to rehab assignments. I can’t wait to have Effross back. Brubaker, though, is being stretched out as a starting option later in the season (perhaps when Gil gets a break at some point?).

I saw various reports that he was good enough to be a future utility guy to being a below average defender. But he’s been fantastic in the majors.
