One week ago, Aaron Judge stood in front of his Yankee Stadium locker, diagnosing the issues that have been ailing his team’s offense. Collectively, the Yankees’ captain said, everyone has been trying to do too much: “Trying to be the one guy that will hit the grand slam with nobody on.”
Judge expressed confidence that the rough patch was close to ending, but that wait continues as pressure mounts. Gerrit Cole provided the deep outing the Yankees were hoping for, but their bats remained silent in a 3-0 loss to the Rays on Wednesday evening at Tropicana Field.
“I’m not in anyone’s heads, but just looking at the outcomes, it’s not where we want to be,” Cole said. “And it’s not good enough to compete for first place right now.”
It’s hard to recap these losses, because they’re all the same. They simply don’t hit. They don’t hit. That’s it, over and over again.
Gerrit Cole could have been better, but Gerrit Cole was fine. They just didn’t hit. Just like they couldn’t hit against Boston.

Austin Wells is having one of the worst seasons in the history of Major League baseball. Naturally, he’s catching today. JC Escarra has been in the minors long enough to be recalled, but they just won’t send Wells to the minors despite him having ZERO WALKS since the end of May, and only THREE HITS in that time period.
It’s just really depressing writing about the same pathetic shit every day.
Why isn’t Spencer Jones on the team if Max fucking Schuemann is going to be your starter in EVERY FUCKING OUTFIELD POSITION THIS WEEK?!
Ryan Yarbrough leads a bullpen game this afternoon against the possible AL Cy Young winner this season, Drew Rasmussen, who has, I believe, the lowest ERA against the Yankees of all active pitcher. So I’m going to be writing the same fucking story about this team tomorrow, as well.

I think during the ASB Cashman might make some moves at the edge, Escarra for Wells? I’d say Spencer for Schumann but Boone is in love. Wells needs some serious fixing and he cant get it here.
