  7. I guess what they really should do is just sit Goldy on the bench until the playoffs. He barely played to start this season, and then was awesome. And now, he can’t even make fucking CONTACT. His age might be catching up with him.

    1. The whole team has been like that! Think about it, Belli is literally an ALL STAR while he hasn’t hit for WEEKS. In other words, he was so good BEFORE that point that he was a freakin’ ALL STAR!

    Just make Sanchez the starter. He looks like he has at least the capability to put a good swing on a pitch. Escarra can back him up.

  34. The thing is not a lot of this is a fluke. Sure they’re not this bad, but they’re bad. Bellinger is better than he’s been, though it wasn’t that long ago that he got release, Jazz should be better. Who else? phenom isn’t good, Cabby and Ahmed are bench role players.

    The Yankees projected very well this season. This is very much NOT normal for them to be this bad.

  49. The Yankees under Cashman are the only team that would keep running Wells out there. Cashman was past his prime a decade ago, but Hal is too lazy to do the work needed to find and hire a young up and coming GM.

  50. What’s done is done for tonight, but Wells truly needs to be sent down. I get giving him a chance to a point. That point was passed a long time ago. Sanchez has an actual pulse. He sucks, but he clearly can just make basic swings.

    Escarra is bad, too, but again, he has a SLIGHT pulse. Wells has nothing.

  51. For years we complained that the Yankees didn’t give young guys a chance. Now they give them a chance, they have a few good months and they get a job for life. What’s wrong with sending Wells and Volpe to AAA to try to get back on track in a low pressure setting? MAYBE the underlying numbers say they are better than this, but to paraphrase Bill Parcells, at some point you are who the scoreboard says you are.

    1. Volpe is different. He’s probably a positive player, all in. He’s just not THAT good.

      Wells is one of the most historically bad hitters in baseball history. He HAS to be sent back to the minors.

  58. they are 9th in the league in runs per game, OPS, OPS+ but they are 19th in OBP, 5th from last in average, 3rd from last in strike outs, bottom half (i forget) in doubles. all they do well is hit HR (1st)

      They aren’t either of those teams. they are somewhere in the middle.
