They don’t deserve a recap thread, but we also can’t just sit in that other thread, so here ya go.
So, in the bottom of the 10th inning, Oswaldo Cabrera was up with the winning run at third base. Boone COULD have used Paul Goldschmidt, but as Boone noted, he would have had to use Goldy at second or third in the top of the eleventh, and he wasn’t going to do that. EXCEPT, of course, he could have just fucking moved Rosario to third and lose the DH, with the pitcher going into Goldy’s spot, which likely wouldn’t have come up again in the game.
Soo….yeah.
Boone is going to Boone.
We also see the talent level there for Doval, but he just can’t do it. Please send him to the minors. Maybe he can prove himself there (I doubt it). Hell, let him work out his shit and maybe he’ll be good NEXT season. He sure ain’t working out now.
Grisham and McMahon will be back on Friday. Sadly, they were two of the better Yankee hitters lately when they got hurt, so their return will help. It won’t matter, though, of course, if the starters all continue to pitch like shit. I assume Jones stays up, but it’ll be interesting.
Oh, by the way, thanks for being awesome in this game, Cruz, while being even worse than Doval against the Red Sox! Very appreciated!
The featured image is there to show you just HOW low the ball was that Doval threw that walked in the go-ahead run. In-fucking-sane how bad he is in clutch situations. Give him a sixth inning, though, and he’s fucking painting corners with 102 MPH sliders. Fucking loser.
I’ve was saying all off-season that Grisham can’t be expected to repeat last season, but even still, at this point, what you can realistically expect from Grisham makes him one of their best hitters.
McMahon… not so much.
The pitching is better with McMahon at third.
I’d like them to see if they can hide Rosario in right field once McMahon is back.
Grisham CF
Rice 1B/DH
Bellinger LF
Goldschmidt DH/1B
Chisholm 2B
Rosario RF
McMahon 3B
Cabellero SS
Wells C
Then sit McMahon and play Dominguez in right against lefties.
Rosario is the only guy who is even SLIGHTLY hitting.
Wait – you’re suggesting Boone made a tactical mistake? He never makes a mistake! Just ask cashman who also never makes a mistake.
It was just so odd seeing him insist that if he had pinch hit Goldy, then Goldy would have had to play third in the 11th. NO, DUDE, that’s very much NOT what that means! It was just NUTS.
He’s not that bright, and things got out of hand
I haven’t been following these games very closely, but Boone’s latest ‘tactic’ should get him fired by itself. If your manager is that clueless regarding basic baseball strategy he has no business managing. Seriously, if this organization was ever serious about winning (obviously they’re not, OBVIOUSLY) they would replace him.
