It kills me that the Mets look to have made the best free agent steals of the offseason in Canning. MLB.com does a Cy Young power list, and Canning actually got a vote from a guy!
I started to notice a little defensive regression from LeMahieu last season, but it still shocks me that the Yankees would rather use the tiny Vivas at third over LeMahieu. That says a whole lot of what they think about LeMahieu’s ability to cover that position.
O’s fire Hyde.
A day later than I thought they would. Just an awful 2025 for the O’s so far.
What did the mutts see in Canning? He was a 5 era pitcher in the NL.
Someone told them Canning is the best way to guarantee that Soto stays good for 15 years.
yeah this guy always sucked
Senga 1 era. Maybe their pitching coach is the genius.
That was a pleasant surprise.
Le Machine?! OPS 1500
Schmidt gives you glimpses of being good but ultimately he’s pretty much mediocre.
Le Machine 500/1571
Why wasn’t Vivas bunting? Could’ve been a tie game.
JUDGE SLUMP
Anyone else feel as though the camo hats are total ass?
What hats? I can’t see them
yes and lol
Good one
Huascar Brazoban is a top
tier name
Yes. Though Brazoban also sounds like a topical agent that you apply to your Buttó after a Canning.
god DAMN
😂
Boone has to have the lowest success % on contact plays in history
Nice play.
Not sure why you don’t have Wells PH for Escarra here. But if they’re walking him then I guess it’s a push.
They walk Escarra to get to DJ. He hit it pretty good.
DJLOB.
The Tools of Ignorance and Birth Control.
Not kink-shaming, but every catcher who likes their job is probably a bit of a masochist.
Use Devin up 5, not in a tie game in the 9th at home??
JUDGE SLUMP!
Even better Weaver faced one batter yesterday. Basic baseball, tied at home in the 9th, use your closer. If he had used Cruz in the 9 th yesterday.
Nice job, Cruz, walking people, hitting a batter.
I think we witnessed another loss directly attributable to Boone.
It looks like the Martian might’ve had a better angle to throw out Acuna in the 9th.
Either one of them needed forward momentum to have a chance. So they needed to decide sooner who was going to make the play.
Maybe Jesse Barfield could have gotten him flat footed.
Hoch: Cody Bellinger said he and Jasson Dominguez had a conversation about the 9th inning sac fly. Bellinger thought Dominguez had a better lane to throw out the runner. “It’s going to be good for the future to have that happen right now.”
That was my impression
I don’t get it, if he thought that, why didn’t he let Dominguez catch it then?
I guess he noticed Jasson stopped going after the ball deferring to Belli and Cody had no choice.
Shouldn’t he have been shouting, “You throw it”? Jaason speaks Enlgish, after all.
But whatever, I think Dominguez also wouldn’t have been able to get Acuna, and if it helps in the future, then fair enough.
As for the loss, while it was very frustrating in the short term, shit like this is obviously mostly just bad luck, so I didn’t mind it too much. I was pleased by Schmidt’s game overall, and it was very nice to see LeMahieu with the home run and the excellent play at second. I suspect that they might plan on keeping DJ at second base even when Jazz returns.
Doesn’t Jazz have strong defensive numbers at second?
Very good, but he also had good numbers at third, and I just don’t think they trust DJ at third anymore.
That’s one more win against the Mets than last year so I’m happy.
But yeah Boone is an idiot,
