It is unlikely that the Orioles are really THIS bad, so this could be a deceptively difficult series.
I was thinking this could be a trap series
Yeah, they’re much better than their record.
The world’s best singles hitter.
First inning CT about to be complete with a Volpe K.
At least Volpe made contact.
That Goldy strikeout was very surprising.
Classic!
Fuck, that was a nice piece of hitting by Mullins. That was a good pitch.
Oh well, fuck this game.
Warren told me to shut the fuck up.
That Henderson double was SUCH a smooth piece of hitting.
Sugano actually looks really fucking good. The movement on his stuff is NUTS.
And he was supposed to be an iffy major leaguer I think
The ump just invented a strike zone for that last one.
uh oh
As they always say, the guy who makes a terrible play in center field often leads off the next inning.
Sugano is the only pitcher I was concerned about in this series from Baltimore, but I didn’t think he’d look THIS good.
No one hits singles better.
Judge learned that from Gleyber Torres, going from first to third.
lol
Sugano has Goldy completely fooled.
Geez louise, he’s embarrassing them.
Oh dear
This is ROUGH to watch.
It’s got to be crazy when the only thing you need to do is to not be a headcase, and guys like Warren, Rodon, and Gil just have such a hard time with that.
Total headcase. Where the fuck is the aggressive Warren from his last start? Is this seriously going to be a game-by-game thing, where he chooses whether to give a shit each start?
oh dear oh dear
oh dear oh dear oh dear
This is the Warren of last year. Fucks up, then catches too much plate because he’s freaking out from his initial fuckups.
Million dollar arm, ten cent head.
Never had a lot of faith in Warren 5.91 era in the minors last year, 10.32 era here and he’ll be 26 in 6 weeks.
I still have some faith in him. His stuff is just too good. But yes, it is hard to have faith in him when he is a total headcase. When Gil returns, perhaps they keep Cookie Carrasco and let Warren work out more stuff in the minors.
I have no choice but to have faith in him. The fact that he wasn’t good in AAA at age 25 bothers me. But sure he does have swing and miss stuff..
This year 3 decent games, 2 stinkers.
It’s Will Warren Day, meaning a quick hole for the team.
Tomoyuki Sugano’s 8.0 K% was the lowest in the majors this season coming into tonight. He’s got 7 K’s in the 4th inning.

His stuff legit looks amazing tonight, though.
I’d love to get into the mindset of these dudes like Warren. “Can’t let him hit me hard, let me avoid the plate. Shit, walked him. Can’t let this guy hit me hard, either, let me avoid the plate. Shit, walked him. I need to throw a strike here….shit, the very hard contact I was afraid of!”
Just madness.
Yankees were 3rd in the majors in strikeouts coming in, probably 2nd to Colorado now.
We don’t need no stinkin’ contact.
I’d give him another batter just to see what he can do. Warren averages 4ip per start.
Note to Martian coaches Cedric Mullins WAS a switch hitter. For his career as a RHB vs LHP he hit 147/440, as a LHB vs LHP he’s 240/689 big improvement. This year he’s 364/1215.
Martian 109/421 vs LHPs.
See? He’s even striking out Judge! He just has amazing stuff tonight.
AWFUL at-bat for Belli after getting ahead 3-1.
I was right the first time with my “fuck this game” comment.
Agustin Ramirez 474, Jazz 175 and has looked like total shit since the very beginning of the year.
The Martian is just LOST against lefties.
When you’re hitting 100 you’re not struggling, you’re totally overmatched.
And he looks SO professional against righties, as well!
Why even make the throw, dude?!
Waldo REALLY doesn’t like to try to score.
What about some of them “runs” I’ve heard so much about?
And if Mullins were still a switch hitter he wouldn’t have got that hit. He was almost as bad as the Martian when he switch hit..
Maybe Yarborough should start and Warren do long relief. Just tell Warren not to be too cute, just throw your best stuff every pitch.
Warren had basically the same game Schmidt had against Cleveland. It was just a mix of bad luck (the bloops against Schmidt and the Grisham botched catch tonight), and a little bit of headcase-ness. Schmidt bounced back, and I wouldn’t put it past Warren to do the same, either.
Meanwhile, Sugano had a centerfielder go over the fence to rob Goldy of a home run.
Sometimes you get the bear…
Yeah maybe but Warren has never done it anywhere, 5.91 era at Scranton last year.
Excellent work from Yarbrough.
Is Jazz the worst hitter in baseball right now?
Jazz sadly still has a much higher OPS than Belli.
I’m glad they’re at least giving the Martian a shot. I’d have hated to see Pablo fucking Reyes here.
I’m fine with that but next year things need to change. Maybe in Winter Ball, maybe in ST the Martian needs to explore doing what Cedric Mullins did.
It might change as soon as when LeMahieu returns, as if LeMahieu wasn’t starting, I bet they’d have pinch hit him there.
JTSnow while not as extreme as Mullins upped his OPS by 100 against LHPs when
when he stopped switch hitting.
Jazz looked overmatched, Volpe and Wells crushed the ball.
Ooph, yet ANOTHER rough at-bat for The Martian against a lefty, and the Martian really tried with this one. Ooph.
I guess this where you try Williams out, right?
And yep, that’s what they’ll do.
I know you can’t do it, but would you pinch-hit Ben Rice for Belli in the ninth?
Moot
Good to see Devin Williams doing well.
Brutal 2-0 popup from Grisham.
Oh well, they at least made it interesting for a bit there.
“Bellinger would like to do damage on this pitch”
Bellinger: :weakest, loopiest hack you’ve ever seen:
Yeah, Belli worked some great counts tonight, and then did jackshit with them. Not fun.
Bautista is like Mo against us and Bellinger kind of sucks, not as bad as Jazz, but still suckage.
Any LHP with a pulse facing Jazz, Wells, Martian and Waldo is in good shape.
That was an exciting top of the ninth. Whoosh!
As bad as Chisholm has been, he’s still got a better OPS, 693, than Bellinger, 574, who looks like toast.
Belli is a streaky hitter, but holy shit, has he been completely useless as a hitter.
Nimmo, 9 RBIs in 3-innings, Goldschmidt, 10 RBIs on the season.
