From Bill Ladson:
It turned out to be a mixed bag for the Yankees during their straight doubleheader on Wednesday against the Angels at Yankee Stadium.
After right-hander Luis Gil pitched five scoreless innings to help the Yankees win the first game, 5-2, teammate Will Warren — the No. 7 prospect in the Yankees’ farm system, according to MLB Pipeline — was hit hard in his first game at Yankee Stadium in an 8-2 loss.
The first win was nice, but holy shit, did Warren shit the bed in that second game. It sort of ruins a lot of the fun of the first game when your starter gives up six runs in the second inning. And it was also REALLY BAD pitching. It wasn’t like they were just hammering him, he was missing spots all over the place. He noted, “I’m going to learn from it. It’s executing when you need to execute, limiting damage because with a lineup like [the Angels] — you give up two or three [runs], they are going to come bang,” Warren said. ” … Going forward, I will just find my way to get out of it.” But, like, dude, you get that the Angels DON’T have a good offense, right?
Very embarrassing performance by Warren, but also just shitty luck that they had to turn to Warren period because of the rainout.
Thankfully, with the Orioles’ loss on Tuesday, and the Red Sox loss on Wednesday, not much changed in the standings for the Yankees. But boy, they really need to win this series against a shitty Angels team, and now they get the Angels’ best starter, so, well, it does not bode well!
When Grady Sizemore was given the reins to the White Sox today, I thought, isn’t he the manager of the Twins already?
I think you are all wrong, and I’m pretty sure that Sizemore and Rocco Baldelli are the same person.
Bad Nestor vs Tyler Anderson LHP 1.15 better era than Nestor. Ad Halos.
This team is so frustrating, they showed such little life in both games against a bad team. Gil being very fortunate with his 5-inning performance, and then Warren looking like a AA+ pitcher and the offense in game two showing nothing. The D’Backs went to Cleveland and swept a doubleheader.
Yeah, the complete no-show in Game 2 was BAFFLING.
