We see the Yankees deploy their “Lefty destroying” lineup today. Let’s see if it live up to the hype against a guy in Robbie Ray who has routinely owned the Yankees in the past.
Big game for Cam Schlittler, as well, to show whether he can be the #2 starter the Yankees will need while Rodon and Cole are on the shelf (and can he be that #3 starter in the playoffs? A playoff rotation with Carlos Rodon as the #4 starter is a pretty darn good playoff rotation).
No idea how Grichuk is batting behind Cabby, though. Also, how can Casey Schmitt possibly be such a bad second baseman that it doesn’t make more sense for him to play second instead of Arraez? Arraez has NO range out there!
Martian and Waldo 1-5. Spence 1-4 with a double but 2 Ks.

“It’s 2026. The Yankees have 27 rings. What better year to get #28?”
That makes no fucking sense, Kay.
If anything, they should have to give one back. Cough up that 1950 hardware, Estate of Cliff Mapes.
Let’s wait two years.
Judge at least made solid contact.
That was what the ABS system should be all about.
An obvious strikeout stolen, and then was fixed.
Arraez is SUCH a shitty fielder. I love that that asshole turned down other offers because he wanted to go somewhere he could play a shitty second base.
That, though, at least explains why he is playing second base. I was confused about that. So the announcers did a good job there.
I got a feeling Grichuk will be gone by June 1
Ooph, rough 3-2 swing by Wells.
Good explanation by Kay about how this was the only lefty the Yankees will face on this six-game road trip. So it makes even MORE sense to bat all the lefties today.
Baby Aaron Judge looks like he’s 25 years old.
Judge on pace for a .000 batting average this season.
But down to a 500 K pace if he gets 700 PA.
Who are the guys who didn’t come ready to play every day?
Come on, you assholes, give Schlittler some fucking run support!
First pitch swinging with a dude with 70 pitches in the fifth. Not cool, Cabby.
Why is he batting so high in the lineup?
Why? Boone.
I actually like Cabby well enough, but he’s not a dude you bat higher than 8th or 9th.
I love how Goldy looked, like, embarrassed by that double.
I think that ABS challenge was mostly about frustration for Judge.
Yay Judge!
Now on pace for 81 HR’s and 405 K’s.
Okay, so he won’t hit .000 for the season. 😉
He challenged a wrongly called strike, and hit a homer on a 3-2 pitch. ABS paying off dividends already!
Schlitter’s allies bomb western reaches of the United States.
They didn’t teach Vitello at Tennessee about walking Judge with a man on second and a lefty up next.
The Red Sox also got two runs last night off of a wrongly called strike three.
The ABS system is working really well so far.
What took them so long?
Look how long it took them to allow instant replay!
I know people who think missed calls should be part of the game.
Judge! Stanton!
So much for Wednesday’s singles.
And he would have had a homer in Yankees Stadium on his flyball in the 4th.
Weird comment, Cone, about how well Stanton and Judge fill out their uniforms. I have no problem with acknowledging that some dudes are better looking than others, but it’s an odd comment from an announcer during a game.
Man, when Cruz is under control, he’s so good. He just isn’t always under control.
Huh, that’s so weird, a contact play going poorly for the Yankees. Who would have ever thought it?!
Awful hitting by Wells, too, though.
And there’s Cruz NOT being under control with a leadoff walk with four balls that weren’t even CLOSE to strikes.
Have the Yankees scored on the contact play since the Reagan administration?
This could be a brutal loss.
1/7 RISP
Doval’s the 8th inning guy pro tem
Kay dropping Seinfeld reference.
Okay, that was acceptable, Doval.
That was impressive
Ugh, this game should not be this close.
And Bednar has 9-1-2 coming up.
WBC Curse has been strong so far, so I’m worried.
Stop dicking around with Devers on deck, dude!
What an atrocious walk by Bednar, with Devers up now, and the power-hitting Adames behind him.
Okay, good job against Devers, Bednar!
Yay win! Yay Judge and Stanton! Yay Matt Blake!
Pythag still in good shape.
If they’ve actually fixed Doval, well, that would be really nice.
Aaron and the angry one tenth of an inch.
Someone should tell the Giants ownership that you can’t “break even” if you don’t score a run.
Not to jinx things for the Yankees, but I don’t see Will Warren pitching as well as Fried and Schlittler did. Unless Matt Blake truly is a magician.
First time in Yankees history they have two straight shutouts to start the season
Over/under for Judge’s 2026 batting average is .179 .
More optimistically, if Judge uses the ABS regularly to challenge the low called strike, that could make him more effective than ever.
schlittler was even better than i hoped. yay win
