From Bryan Hoch:
A video clip was waiting for Jazz Chisholm Jr. when he walked into the visitors’ clubhouse at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday afternoon, shedding new light on the sequence that led to his ninth-inning ejection the night before.
The images danced on the screen: catcher Jose Trevino appearing to direct home-plate umpire Mark Wegner’s attention to third base, prompting Chisholm to ask: “Why are you looking at me?” Now he had the answer – and Chisholm exacted revenge, belting a two-run homer in the Yankees’ 7-1 victory over the Reds.
Okay, that’s pretty funny, that Jose Trevino specifically directed the umpire’s attention to Jazz the night before, which got Jazz ejected. I don’t blame Trevino, it’s a smart play, honestly.
Anyhow, great win, nice to see Grisham and Dominguez have such big games, and for Fried to bounce back from a rough start.
The Yankees are just 33-30 in games NOT started by Fried. Gulp.
The featured image is Fried congratulating Wells on calling a good game as Fried’s night ended.
This seems notable:
Jasson Dominguez has 81 PA vs LHP in 2025
First 42 PA: .083 AVG, .381 OPS
Recent 39 PA: .324 AVG, .855 OPS
hmmmm
Cam Schlittler seems poised to force his way into the Yankees rotation. They have a nice crop of young starters and I’m curious to see how Cashman moves for infield help.
Look you can’t have that last name. You just can’t.
Seriously though the Yankees have been cranking out starters the last 4-5 years
What was the ejection about in the first place? Sorry I’ve been paying less attention to baseball recently
He was supposedly screaming at himself and Trevino pointed out to the ump who tossed him. Or something like that. He wasn’t barking at the ump.
Any explanation for what Bird was doing tagging up twice?
Stupidity is the best guess I have.
Rice? My guess OCD like did I forget to lock the door? He thought maybe he was off the gag when the catch was made.
Yeah, it’s definitely that he thought he was off the bag, but that’s still stupidity, as he was SQUARELY on the bag.
Rice. Bird.
I like you Betty.
Fucking Royals. Lost three in a row, outscored 12-1 by the Rays.
That’s how you’re supposed to win
That’s some helium the Rays are floating on. Not to be believed, I expect July will see a pin let the helium out.
Verdugo was our cleanup hitter for 49 games last. Just like Josh Donaldson, Cash got his man.

Spencer Jones off a good week to AAA.
Updates on several Yankees top prospects:
✔️Spencer Jones’ “consistency”
✔️George Lombard’s “leadership”
✔️A prospect w/ a swing reminiscent of Brett Gardner
✔️Flores, Jasso making progress

Good for Jones. I’d like to see him be a viable option for 2026 after Grisham leaves and 27 after Bellinger leaves
La Ronde
Grisham (L) CF
A Judge (R) RF
C Bellinger (L) LF
G Stanton (R) DH
J Chisholm Jr. (L) 3B
P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
B Rice (L) C
A Volpe (R) SS
D LeMahieu (R) 2B
Wouldn’t hate seeing this lineup with Rice and Grisham switched.
I mentioned a few days ago that I expected Spencer Jones to be sent to SWB over this hot streak. He has been promoted.
Since returning from the IL on 5/29, Jones is 27-for-83 (.325/.411/.639) with 7 HR, 16 RBI and a 1.050 OPS.
I always worry about comparing Jones and Judge, but he’s really only a year behind Judge in terms of development timeline – and he missed time in college.
AAA SHOULD be a more friendly hitting environment too.
I saw a video of his and his stance kind of reminded me of Judge if Judge hit left handed.
