From Mike Cook:
Honored earlier in the day by the Yankees for his work away from the diamond, Carlos Rodón continued to be strong for his employer Monday night.
New York’s offense did not.
Rodón scattered five hits and allowed two runs across six innings, but in-playoff-contention New York fell 7-0 at Target Field to the Twins, a team playing out the string.
Yeah, THAT’s the headline I’d go for for this pathetic loss.
This is the second straight start where Rodon wasn’t as good as his opponent, but then the team REALLY fell apart with the bullpen, as Luke Weaver somehow looks worse than Camilo Doval right now. Insanity.
The featured image is Simeon Woods Richardson celebrating his ELEVENTH strikeout of the game.
That a team in a penant race can come out so flat is yet another proof that they need a new manager. I guess that’s reason 952.
He’s gotten worse. He’s a caricature.
Woods Richardson’s expression says “I’m glad I got that strikeout…but it’s only the Yankees, so”
That headline is beyond belief. I mean, how do they sleep at night posting something so pathetically pandering?
In the meanwhile, yes, that was an awful, awful game. Rodon was okay, he could have been (and has been) better.
But Weaver, I’m guessing, has just lost the cutter. A cutter is a pitch that, if you throw it well, gets you outs. We know that better than anyone. Last year he was untouchable. At the start of this year he was untouchable.
If he doesn’t have that cutter, he’s nothing.
They have to know what the task is with Weaver. Fix the cutter and he’s a star again.
Not to say that team sites on MLB.com are known for reporting on their subjects without fear or favor; but especially in today’s cowardly corporate media environment, the only acceptable purpose of journalism is to comfort the comfortable. Anything less is, apparently, hate speech and grounds for
extortiondefamation lawsuits. The AG would like a few words with you Veggie.
This AG’s expertise is in extortion ex officio. Remember 2013 when she was a state AG, and she solicited a donation to her PAC from a certain businessman with a residence in her state, then floated that her office might join other states in an investigation of fraud at one of said businessman’s enterprises, and then received a $25,000 donation from said businessman’s foundation, and then decided not to pursue the fraud investigation after all?
What ever happened to that businessman, anyway?
Upon receiving a cortisone shot Anthony Volpe echoed General Douglas MacArthurs famous words “I shall return,” and he has indeed returned, prepared to lead the Yankees out if its offensive malaise.

I don’t think it would be terrible to give Grisham or Stanton a day off and let Martian get some PT. If Grisham continues to suck will he be guaranteed to lead off through the playoffs?
How many millions is Grisham costing himself with this late season swoon?
Amazing that one rookie with an ops > 100 gets benched while another gets 1600 at bats of putridity.
