  1. I really am excited by prospect of Cam. What do you think the likely hood of Elmer or Langrange working out as well. Do I dare think any other Yankee prospects could be legit as well?

    1. More Elmer and less LaGrange, IMO, BUT who the hell knows. It could be any of them. Ben Hess has some high end stuff, too and if the rotation wasn’t so packed, he could probably get some innings in MLB this year.

The pitching development has taken off lately. They were really good at finding big RHers and turning them in to top-end middle relievers like an assembly line. Now they’re doing it with starters. I dream of Cam with a change.

    2. I dream of Cam with a change.

The Cam-bio would be a formidable weapon indeed.

    1. Thank you for telling me. Don’t know how it happened, but I suspect my wife wanted the insurance money.

  2. You’re not wrong about smart pitchers. Two of my all-time favorites are Mussina and Maddux. Those guys were 20 steps ahead of every batter.

    1. “Except for that [expletive] Tony Gwynn.” — Greg Maddux

Because smarts work for hitters too.

  3. Updated AL Cy Young Favorites, via Kalshi:

    30% — Tarik Skubal
    16% — Max Fried
    13% — Garrett Crochet
    12% — Cam Schlittler
    11% — Bryan Woo
    10% — Dylan Cease
    8% — Hunter Brown
6% — Cole Ragans, Gavin Williams
    5% — Jacob Degrom

    1. Kalshi’s futures markets tend to be a little soft. Not even 200k of liquidity in that market overall. (Individual games are often crossing $1M in liquidity)

That said, if you wanted to take a crazy short price on a Cy candidate, +233 on Skubal is a better price then you’ll get at the sportsbooks, from what I can see. (FD is an insane +170.)

But you probably need your head examined if you’re only getting +230 on any individual pitcher in early April what with pitchers having that, you know, whole drummer-for-Spinal Tap issue.

    2. 1% Alcantara after he gets traded to Toronto and throws five perfect games in August-September.

    1. “I. Will. Not. Lose.”
      – Cam Schlittler

      “I excel, then prevail.”
      – Mariano Rivera

“Life’s a pitch and then you die.”
      – Thurman Munson (… or Cory Lidle, but I opted for Munson for the second meaning of “pitch”)
