From Bryan Hoch:
Somewhat remarkably considering their rich history, the Yankees have produced only three seasons of at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases. Nearly a quarter-century has passed since the last one, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. is poised to change that.
One day after swiping his 30th bag, Chisholm launched his 29th home run as part of a three-RBI performance, powering the Yankees to a 5-3 victory over the Red Sox on Saturday at Fenway Park.
That went well.
Max Fried pitched pretty intelligently, and only allowed two runs, but he couldn’t even get through six innings, and they did have NINE hits off of him, so Jazz gets the featured image as he admires his 29th home run.
Good thing they won this one, as with Garrett Crochet up in the finale, they have NO chance at winning THAT one.
For all the complaints (good job, guys!), Jazz has been pretty damned good. The complaints suggest that he really, with a bit of intelligence and work, could be even better.
Yes, Jazz has been a good contributor. And yes, he could be better with a bit of work. But intelligence? That’s a bit much to ask of these Yankees.
And as much as we put it on Boone, the idiocy runs much deeper. Nearly everyone in this organization is stupid. Mind-bogglingly, terminally, contagiously stupid. It’s like there’s a prion disease going around. Or maybe like the organization is too full of idiot nepo babies for anyone to recognize intelligence and sign players / coaches that have it. Baseball is not just tools. But the Yankees are all tools, and yet so far from a complete kit. The pitchers have great stuff, no smarts, and no composure. The batters have great eyes, great bat speed, and zero situational awareness. The people who can field can’t hit, and vice versa, except for Volpe who can’t do either. And the baseruining is as it’s ever been.
Anyway, I look forward to the same premature exit from the playoffs that we’ve witnessed almost every October since 2002.
Wells, however… Wells and Volpe are such crazily disappointing stories…
Wells in particular. We never saw any great stretch from Volpe like Wells had in 2024.
If the ground ball through the SS hole was a thing instead of a mistake that would indicate some growth.
Rizzo could never do that, no matter how extreme the shift was.
Or was that Teix?
I’d like him to see him hit 260+
Stanton hit with his own home run at Fenway

Warren vs Crochet if this were a boxing match no athletic commission would sanction it.
Raleigh with #54. Ties Mantle for most HRs in a season by a switch-hitter.
Crazy. Somehow he doesn’t quite seem a Mantle to me, I have to admit.
Since Adam Warren is unlikely to pitch a shutout this game is over.
Terrible AB by Judge, he expanded the zone there.
And the first pitch was hittable.
Helluva WNBA game
Good start for Warren, a leadoff triple. Think Red Sox won’t score this guy? Ha!
EDIT: They did score, with a hit.
Pitching Warren in the unwinnable game rather than any of our better pitchers was a smart move by Boone.
Well, if Judge is gonna swing at pitches out of the zone like he did, yeah.
Warren close to imploding.
Talk about weak, that sums up Warren. Some guys would be pumped on Sunday night against a really good opposing pitcher. Not Warren.
I never liked Warren. He pitched an occasional good game but he not good.
