From Bryan Hoch:
There are still moments when Aaron Judge’s teammates recognize they must pinch themselves after another one of the captain’s remarkable performances, taking a beat to remember that what they are witnessing is both significant and historic.
Judge continues to keep select company in franchise lore, notching his 500th career extra-base hit with an early three-run homer in the Yankees’ 9-7 victory over the D-backs on Thursday evening at Yankee Stadium.
Only Joe DiMaggio (853 games) and Lou Gehrig (874 games) reached that milestone in fewer games than Judge, who played in his 999th career game Thursday.
“He just keeps on performing, man, showing us why he’s the MVP of this league and one of the best players to ever play this game,” said Jazz Chisholm Jr. “We all just try to be like him. We all tell him every day, ‘Hey, we want to be you when we grow up.’”
Well, a win is better than NOT a win!
Carlos Carrasco pitched pretty well, honestly. And Ryan Yarbrough is a longman, so him having a fuckup is much less of a concern than if Fernando Cruz or Luke Weaver had a fuckup. And Luke Weaver, by the way, looks just as good as ever. Man, it’s going to be tough deciding which one of the Yankees top relievers they bring back next year, Weaver or Williams.
They should be 5-1, but 4-2 isn’t awful.
Judge is great, as always.
Brian, I completely forgot about A-Rod when I posted yesterday–of course he’s not in the Hall, but he should be.
Oh true, but at the time, we all assumed he would be, right? So we got to appreciate him in 2005 and 2007 assuming he was going to be a surefire Hall of Famer. But yes, it’s amazing that we got to watch A-Rod in his prime, and now get to also see Judge in his prime.
Jazz Chisholm is somewhat rapidly becoming my favorite Yankee
