Let’s hope this is the first step in Gerrit Cole making less of a mockery of himself.
So, when do we find out that Judge has some horrible disease?
Another day, different city, same hitting.
It would have been hilarious had he intentionally walked Langeliers.
I’m kind of surprised they didn’t play The Martian today with Soto out.
I’m sure Volpe will come through in the clutch. I’m sure. Totally sure.
Well, he did. Shockingly.
let’s add grisham stealing the job from vertigo for the rest of 2024 to my wishlist at this moment.
See? I told you Volpe would come through. I totally knew it. Totally.
A Verdugo-less 2025 Yankee team will be so glorious.
A Stanton-less one as well. Sigh, unless they can buy him out, he will be a drag for another 3 years on the roster.
Oh wow, a ground ball to second base to end the inning. WHO COULD HAVE PREDICTED THAT UNLIKELY SCENARIO?!?!
Gotta get Verdugo going. How many outs to 2nd does he have now?
Isn’t he close to the Major League record since they started tracking these things?
I think he was within 3 like 2 weeks ago.
I mean, to be fair to him, we’re only talking 9 years of stats, right? So it’s pathetic, to be sure, but you know there HAD to be some defense-first shortstop in the 1930s who probably grounded to second every at-bat.
It is sad that you have to just outright remove Boone’s toys to keep him from stupidly using them.
I will miss Gleyber (but still be glad he’s gone), but Verdugo’s departure will make me SO HAPPY.
It’s tough when you keep facing aces like J.T.Ginn to put runs on the board.
It’s strange they didn’t start The Martian today with Soto out.
That last AB by Judge, they gave him 1 pitch to hit, the rest was junk. FFS.
September BAs Wells 149; Jazz 234; Stanton 156; phenom 161; Rizzo 200; Verdugo 255; Trevi 059 and can’t throw anymore.
Wells costing himself ROY. You know if it is close they’ll go against a Yankees guy.
Not familiar with baseball but Is 5 hits and 3 double plays a good ratio?
I hope that everyone here has someone in their life who loves them as much as the Yankees love grounding into double plays.
Mutts bearded ball boy fields a ball in play down the line.
Hey, at least they’ve got a while before the playoffs start to figure out this whole offense thing.PLENTY of time to work it out.
Don’t be fooled by the fact that Oakland ranks 23rd in team era.Their pitching is as good as anybody’s. Seattle, Atlanta, Detroit, doesn’t matter.
They REALLY need to pick Cole up tonight.
By the way, why in the world wouldn’t you bat Judge second tonight?
Unless the Yankees score here, this will be the fourth time in five starts that Cole has gotten one or zero runs of support from the offense.
Fucking CRAZY.
Pinch-running for Stanton in the seventh was such a dumb move by Boone.
I dunno. Usually I’d agree but I’m not sure the way Stanton has been hitting that The Martian is a downgrade.
Yankees five runs in the last 28 innings, one was a Manfred Man. I think it’s like 10/12 starters they faced have shut them down. Every once in a while they put up double digits bu the rest they’ve been pretty pathetic.
Hey Mike the Yankee offense has been more than a ‘bit’ sluggish for a lot longer than Seattle. Take a look at the Yankee hitters for September.
Seattle pitching is good but it’s not Maddox, Glavine and Smoltz. Oakland pitching is mediocre.
Holy fucking shit, do they never teach these guys to watch the fucking ball?!!? How the fuck did Dominguez not score on that?!?!
WHAT IS ROJAS DOING AT THIRD?!?!
We may win but we sucked tonight at hitting.
Best Yankee RBI man, wild pitches and errors by the other team.
I am so happy that Soto is not hurt!!
I cannot believe how bad Volpe is at bunting.
We found someone we can score against.
Big RBI by Volpe there, but how did he not get to second on that?!
Soto, on busted knee, pinch-hits in extra innings and by himself provides more offense than the rest of the team.
Does Cole pitch the tenth?
GIDP in one…two…
He tried desperately, but he accidentally made a productive out.
Secret MVP – Mark Kotstay for taking Miller out of the game.
Gleyber striking out weakly on ball four.
Sorta regret not going to the Coliseum this weekend, but don’t want to give John Fisher any money.
Come on, Weaver, dude.
Cole very much needed that win.
Magic number: 5.
Yay Win!
Yay Cole!
Yay Soto!
Boo John Fisher.
Ohtani homered and stole another base tonight. Now 52/52 and counting, and it still isn’t one of his top 3 seasons.
Or, in classic RLYW complaint-speak:
Ohtani is an underachiever. $700 million contract and he hasn’t thrown a pitch all year.
Judge and Soto both have better wRC+: 212, 181, 174.
So, what happened to the whole “if Dominguez is called up he’s going to play” mantra? Another lie from the lying liar who lies.
Jasson’s defense in Seattle didn’t help his cause.
