A Gio reunion would make no sense, right?
DJ wouldn’t want to use a multi colored bat because he’s going so good.
If this were a Tigers blog, how many heads would be exploding with A.J. Hinch getting Javy Baez in the lineup today because keeping him in a good frame of mind is more important thang giving that 6’3″ lefty hitting rookie SS a good long look.
“vuln” and “vulning” not acceptable in the spelling bee. I demand to speak to Sulzberger
Vuln is good according to the Internet Scrabble Club.
I swear I don’t know what dictionary they use. “Tiffany” is a proper noun, and yet
Stanton since returning 209/689
Vertigo last 14 227/590 despite Ruocco saying he’s had some good ABs lately. What’s he watching 2023 Boston replays?
Volpe with an infield hit pretty much the only kind of hit he can get.
And Rice sadly last 14 067/253 which justifies DJ I suppose.
Waldo last 14 400/1304 yet somehow he’s batting 9th instead of 5th or 6th.
With Stroman vs Skubal tomorrow, this game is kind of a must win.
Sadly looking like a sure loss now. Rodon tricked us into thinking he might be competent.
Well, that as a nice thought, but Rodon and the moribund Yankees bats have a different idea. Which probably includes being no-hit by Skubal.
It’s funny how even these mini slumps by Soto shock me.
Flash “he looks better than the numbers would indicate” or the Yankees are worse offensively than the number would indicate.
Against the White Sox they scored 2, 4, 1 thru 6 when the 2b dropped a throw, last night 3 and 1-10 RISP.
The whole infield and LF are mediocre to bad and Stanton is not exactly producing as you would want from a DH.
If we lose this we’ll be 8-6 lately against sub 500 teams and with Skubal going tomorrow it probably will be 8-7.
I have decided to give Rodón a mulligan. Sometimes you just don’t have it. If he sucks next game, though, mulligan rescinded!
Sure but he’s had plenty of other stinkers. As have Nestor. And Stroman. And with 5 or 6 sub replacement hitters in the lineup that’s a problem.
Flash every starter since game 1 against Chicago has pretty much handled the Yankees.
So many AAA batters v. AAAA pitchers.
Cousins is the long guy?
Moribund.
It’s OK to give up a bunch of runs to no-names while getting shut down by a no-name having a bad season.

The whole infield, except Waldo for now, LF and DH sub replacement level. Nobody to pick up Soto and Judge
Just got to get LeMahieu up for the grand slam.
Awww… no LeMahieu grand slam.
They gotta move Waldo up in the lineup.
I think they should mix things up even more by leading off Judge or Soto, but if they insist on a leadoff hitter, let’s do…
Gleyber 2B
Soto RF
Judge CF
Wells C
Stanton DH
Waldo 3B
Verdugo LF
Rice 1B
Volpe SS
And against lefties…
Gleyber 2B
Soto RF
Judge CF
Wells C
Stanton DH
Waldo LF
Peraza 3B
Volpe SS
LeMahieu 1B
I want Peraza to play some SS. And Grisham some CF with Judge and LF which would be out strongest defensive alignment.
And for crying out loud, teach Wells first base!!
They should’ve thought of that last year but the FO is stupid.
But Wells has turned himself into a pretty dang good catcher. It’s theoretically much easier to find a good hitting 1B than a good hitting, good defensive catcher.
I don’t think moving Wells to 1B is the answer.
Only when Trevino is catching. Wells needs to play everyday, somewhere
Oh yeah, just in games where Trevino plays. The issue is that Trevino is too good to treat like Narvaez, but you can’t lose Wells’ at-bat in games where Trevino plays.
We’ve seen a number of catchers play other positions to keep their bats in the lineup when they don’t catch, and with the Yankees’ shitty options at first base (LeMahieu or Rice is basically picking your poison at this point), they should make sure to keep Wells’ bat in the lineup.
For instance, see how much better this lineup is?
Gleyber 2B
Soto RF
Judge CF
Wells 1B
Stanton DH
Waldo 3B
Verdugo LF
Trevino C
Volpe SS
Nine hits in 2 games. Stanton, Vertigo, phenom, DJ/Rice a combined 1/28!, an infield hit. Thanks Cash and Boone.
This is not a serious baseball operation with Cashman at the helm.
Cashman who was burned out 7-years ago and has 2 more years on his own contract. Cashman who has Hicks still being paid, LeMahieu still owed $30 million after 2024.
And Stanton for three more years+ after 2024. Stanton, $32 million in 2025, $29 million – $10 million the Marlins pay in 2026 = $19 million, and $25 million in 2027 – $10 million the Marlins pay = $15 million, plus a club option in 2028 for $25 million – the $10 million the Marlins would pay if picked up = $15 million, or a $10 million club buyout for 2028.

And Rodon in the next 5.
Well, Rodon can always become a crafty lefty (I did not say crappy).
Kris Bryant on the Ellsbury plan. Since signing his big deal with the Rockies, he’s played 159 games between 2022 and 2024.
Sevvy with a complete game 4 hit shutout.
welcome back and thanks for the homer, peraza. now ride the pine.
O’s lose (meaning the Bosox won).
The Yankees get to lose in a new place tonight, on national TV.
Grisham has a higher OPS than Verdugo. Not by much but Grisham, Judge and Soto would upgrade the outfield defense.
Reds get Rosario. Nobody decent that isn’t overpriced will fall to them. We’re stuck in the outfield but it wouldn’t take much to improve on the black hole that is 1B.
For some reason there’s a 27th roster spot tonight for both teams. The Yankees are using Dominguez, I can only assume they will not play him, because, why would they?
I assume he’ll start otherwise why not choose a reliever?
Judge needs to hit 3-4 homers tonight
Every time I think about bad Yankees contracts I think about Pujols and Rendon and I smile
Kris Bryant.
O’s win.
They sit Waldo who’s been very productive and play phenom who’s stinking up the joint.

Oh wait I didn’t even see Wells wasn’t starting even against a RHP with a day off tomorrow. Either Trevino or Stanton 117 last 14 days, 118 last 7 days should be sitting.
Skubal is a LHP.
Oops, my bad. Sadly The Martian is better hitting left handed.
Cashman found a lane for the day for Jasson.
Skubal is the best pitcher in the AL and the plan is for The Martian to go 0/4 and Boone/Cash to declare he’s not ready.
Wells already knows how to play 1B. There was an article back at the beginning of June that said he takes practice there on his non-catching days. https://www.nj.com/yankees/2024/06/why-yankees-austin-wells-spends-so-much-time-at-1st-base-while-killing-it-behind-plate.html
Na gonna happen.
