I dunno when this game will happen, but hopefully the Yankees win whenever it happens.
Oh what fun to buy tickets for a game in advance.
Spence and Martian 1-5, Spence with a home run.
Gil 4.2ip 3r 4h 6k 4bb. Not great.
As of 3:45 PM, we do remain optimistic of playing today’s game and will continue to provide updates as they are received.
Oh good
Somewhere over the rainbow.
Spencer Jones with a grand slam.
5:10PM start
Fried, what the heck, man?
AND a lost challenge!
Maybe the Marlins should have just let the dude go to the birth of his kid.
Maybe they should have let the midwife pitch the first inning, Fairbanks still needs some work on his delivery.
Rice!
It’s early, but I’m loving Grisham’s walk rate. Been a while since the Yankees have had a leadoff guy with a .400 OBP. Never mind that his SLG is anemic for now, all he needs to do is set the table for this really, really solid 2-5.
Prescient and timely “Insight” from Gameday: “Ryan McMahon is ice cold, going 0-for-17 with 8 strikeouts over his last 7 games.”
Make that 0-for-18 with 9 strikeouts.
I think the entire coaching in this org is terrible. yet another supposedly great hitting C has seemingly been ruined. How many young guys are worse than expected or get worse after a year or two up with the team in majors.
Wells is just the latest example. Sanchez; Gleyber, etc etc
Judge is an exception but he had outside coaching.
It’s really unbelievable
Agree. Sanchez is 100% on the Cashman-Boone regime. Girardi would have kept him from falling off. Girardi likewise would have pounded fundamentals into Torres and Volpe, and Wells, as needed.
Coaches are off the hook for Bird, Frazier, and Andujar, but the medical staff aren’t.
Speaking of Judge, he seems to be straightening out his mechanics since yesterday. Hope it’ll stick.
These Marlins are just way too pesky. You absolutely can’t be walking these guys, Fried!
Fried getting through seven would be great, but seems unlikely. So what is the plan tonight? Yarbrough for three?
Yarbrough for two, Bird to close?
The Yankees failure in the bottom of the 3rd looms large as they were lucky to get the 1 run.
I’m beginning to think that Jazz is not going to get to 50/50. I’m wondering if he’ll even get to .250.
How the fuck do you walk the leadoff guy, Fried?!
This is very frustrating. This is why you can’t walk these guys, Fried! They’re pesky as fuck!
Cabby’s arm is pathetic. Amazing that hasn’t been more of an issue.
Brian I regret to inform you that Max Fried is Dicking Around
I slightly disagree. I think he just doesn’t have his command. I think it’s almost kind of impressive how well he is pitching without really having good command.
Do you let Fried start the 7th? Even with his poor command, he’s probably better than Winquest.
Wells isn’t even CLOSE.
Grisham, you have to know the game situation! Just take the strikeout! Now they have no challenges!
That was a hell of a performance without his best stuff and without his best command.
Six hits yesterday, so far today, five hits. Somehow, they squeezed 13 runs out of those 11 hits. Too many non-contributors in that lineup.
#6-9 are just automatic non competitive at-bats.
I guess you split the 8th between Cruz and Hill, then Bird for the save?
How do you bring in a reliever to face Jazz? Anyone could get him out right now.
Jazz tried to challenge without a challenge, and he would have been wrong. He’s so fucking stupid.
And also an automatic out right now. Just not even competitie contact.
You cannot walk these guys!!!!
And how do you not throw the splitter on 3-2?!
Bird? I have no idea what the idea is here. Yarbrough to close?
Perfect time for Cruz and Bird to both lose the strike zone. How are you walking these guys!?!
As soon as you give these guys high leverage situations, they shit their pants.
This is what I expect from these two guys, Cruz and Bird.
It wasn’t “just like that,” Kay.
It kept on coming, failing, pitch after pitch, at bat after at bat, it was slow and obvious and excruciating.
The opposite of “just like that.”
I just don’t get the pulling Cruz for Bird move. Righty for righty. What was the advantage gained?
Just an insanely bad performance by Bird. Four pitch walk followed by a HBP on the first pitch, followed by a double
Might as well just have used Winquest, with the Marlins owning all these guys.
Even had Fried had a clean game, these guys would have blown his win.
Since the third inning wasted opportunity, they were gonna lose.
It definitely felt that way.
You have to give the Marlins hitters a ton of credit. They have a bunch of guys who are hot as fuck right now. Lopez, Edwards, Hicks, they’re on fire.
And this Bird you cannot change.
Likely.
With Grisham not hitting that means they have a dreadful 6-1, what a mess. From 6 to 1: 171/445, 167/426, 129/335, 087/363, 172/644,
Will Warren’s outing looks a lot better now.
Rowson, Dykes & Hirst get paid, but what do they do?
Can’t really knock Yarbrough too much. This is really on Cruz and Bird.
Let’s say Stanton Ks here. Would Boone have the guts to pinch hit Goldy for Jazz?
He does not.
Ben Rice is starting to get the Bonds treatment because of how bad the guys are at the back of the lineup.
Now that it doesn’t matter, Jazz delivers.
You HAVE to hit for Cabby here.
How can Escarra possibly be the best option here?!
How are you passing over Goldy and Grichuk here?!
Boone: I had a feeling.
i turned it on in the 8th, not really impressed with the ump and i hate the challenge system.
just give the umps an earpiece to make the right calls, wtf
What an awful at bat by Escarra, but also, what an awful decision to let him hit over two professional hitters. What the fuck was Boone thinking?! I could give a shit about the platoon advantage, he’s a shitty hitter and Goldy and Grichuk are at least mediocre hitters!
Hell, Rosario would have been better there, too! There were five options, and Boone somehow picked the fourth or fifth worst choice!!
Boone gonna Boone.
He was clearly the worst choice. He hit 191 last year with a 282 OBP. Against RHPs it was 173/273. Goldy was clearly the least bad choice followed by Rosario, Grichuk, and Cabby.
,
Boone blames the AI, he told his phone he wanted to beat the traffic and call an Uber home, and next thing he knew, Escarra’s at the plate.
Extra, Extra, read all about it:
Mariners injure Trout.
Legumina attempts a little beaning.
More seriously, this is really sad. Seattle hit their division rival’s franchise player, a 3-time MVP and future first-ballot hall of famer, in the hand, when he’d looked to be healthy for the first time in four years.
Today’s loss is no big deal, it just reminds us of what the Yankees are “running it back” with – a suspect bullpen, an inept manager, and a lineup that is half missing.
