The “try not to suck” challenge for Marcus Stroman – can he pass the challenge (he will not)? When can Cody Poteet come back to the rotation? Shouldn’t they just pull Stroman from the rotation simply so that they can keep him from hitting 140 innings, and thus gaining a 2026 player option?
Yankees are hitting 231 vs LHPs, I think they’re 10-17, in the last 29 home games they’re 10-19.
Do you like it?
The Martian played left field last night for one of the first times. I’d say they plan on having him replace Verdugo except he’s been terrible.
They pulled top pitching prospect Chase Hampton after 2 innings last night. Is he hurt or are they planning on using him in relief this season?
Yankees 136/-162 favorites. Stroman vs Heaney, home town disadvantage. Where’s the smart money?
Remember that time when the Yankees traded for Heaney and he came and stunk? Yeah that was another great cashman trade.
phenom 0/20. He’s got to be some kind of a head case, he disappears at the plate far too often.
Arod, Nomar and Jeter. Witt Jr, Gunnar Henderson and phenom. History repeats itself.
The reports of DJ’s non demise were premature.
Now that 3 on 3 basketball is a thing I’m waiting for 2 on 2 baseball.
That was a nice ab Tony
That’s the last time Judge will be walked intentionally
Until Stanton gets hurt again.
Those were some world class pitches by Cousins. If he can throw those consistently, he really should be a starter. I mean, that was unbelievable!
Or closer. (Big “if,” I know.)
WTF is this inning?
I would have thought the last inning before the ASB would be a once-in-a-lifetime affair. I mean… really?
Why don’t Stanton, Soto and Judge homer every game?
Okay, this is fun. And smacked by Wells, too. He’s becoming a huge, huge deal.
Soto’s such a keeper. In every way.
Orioles lose. Red Sox getting trounced. Might be a nice day.
Or maybe not
Except who the RS are getting trounced BY.
Ich bin ein Astros this weekend.
It is a little like collaborating with the Nazis, yes.
More like Stalin over Hitler
How bad is this pen?
Leiter’s been pretty damned good.
Okay, I concede the point.
What was with those two ground balls to SS in the 7th inning, one that Chisholm made an error on (was Volpe’s play) and cost two runs, and same inning Gleyber taking a ground ball that was Volpe’s play as well (at least he got the out).
I don’t know who is going to get the job replacing Sterling, but I know who isn’t going to get it. Craig Carton was terrible.
Craig Carton was… announcing?
I wish they’d give it to Ricky already. The other one (or is it two) could be an AI bot and that guy today was indeed awful. Suzyn might have a sore back from carrying him.
Yeah, Ricky is the clear call.
Hate that “non-competitive” first 2-2 pitch.
And now another one to make it 3-2.
He can’t afford those pitches.
I can’t believe they actually need those two home runs last inning.
How good would Holmes be if he could actually get strike 3?
Whew.
RAB Give Soto $500M and then spend another $500M on relievers. No mas with building a bullpen around other teams’ scraps.
Amen
Holmes obviously reading this thread
You just HAVE to bring up the tying run, don’t you?
Walking Langford, and on 5 pitches. FFS.
Damn, Holmes really can’t afford to have non-competitive balls.
And he had a pair of them on full display in that at bat.
Again. Dammit, come on!
This bullpen, you need a full pack of cigarettes and a pint of booze. 😎
Why am I putting myself through this?
How can you leave Holmes in for this at bat?
Just awful, when you get 2 outs and walk Langford on 5 pitches in a 2-run game, you are’n t very good.
And 2-runs thanks to Chisholm’s bad play in the 7th.
Holy cow! They avoided a total collapse and go 5-4 on the home stand against less than stellar competition.
Whew. Finally. Damn. Jeez.
They really, really need to get Holmes out of that role.
Nice offensive game, anyway.
How is THIS team in first place? Amazing.
For who? Seems to me he’s the least bad option.Maybe Cousins but he gave up two hits in his inning.
Judge 3-3 with a walk, a HR and a stolen base.
What a flawed team. First place but just wow. Cashman sucks.
Stroman was good. Cousins was incredible.
DJ and Stanton had good games, Volpe did not. Judge and Soto as usual had great games. The pen 4ip 6 runs 8 hits and 3 walks.
If Hal and Cashman were in charge of staffing an ER they would hire Doctors who flunked out of Med school in Granada and got their licenses from The University of Phoenix on line.
Now to struggle against the mighty ChiSox in Chicago.
