  1. Last 28 days the Martian 16 hits, but two doubles and one home run. Last 7 he’s hitting 400 with 10 hits but only 1 double and no home runs. Are they trying to turn him into Arraez?

  2. So, what is Cashman seeing?

It has been nearly a decade since Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez last wore pinstripes as teammates, but their words still carry weight in the Yankees’ clubhouse.

ā€œThey make way too many mistakes,ā€ Jeter said. ā€œAnd you can’t get away with making that number of mistakes against great teams. It just doesn’t happen. They had baserunning mistakes today – you saw [Trent Grisham] getting thrown out at home plate. You can’t continue to do it. You have to clean it up.ā€

Rodriguez echoed the sentiment, suggesting a lack of ā€œaccountabilityā€ in the current Yankees culture.

ā€œIf any one of us made a mistake, we would be sitting our butt right on the bench,ā€ Rodriguez said. ā€œI see mistake after mistake, and there’s no consequences.ā€

  3. They needed to win game 1 and that was a hard game to lose. It took the combined sucking of Rodon, 3 relievers, and a SS playing right field to lose. Most of all it took a bad manager having a worse than usual game.

  4. Six innings of looking at that band aid .

If it was on the other side of Cabrera’s neck it wouldn’t be driving me so crazy.

Is it ok to ask if that was a monster zit?

    1. if it was a zit he’d probably have one of those star stickers the kids use

  5. The Royals scored 5 in the top of the 10th, the Blue Jays got 2 in the bottom. The Yankees squandered a chance this weekend as the Royals took 2 of 3 from the Blue Jays. This would be a good time to fire Aaron Boone.

  6. The folly of using the mean as a metric. I say the Yankees didn’t have a good offensive series, but they averaged over 5 runs a game.

  7. The Yankees can only beat a good pitcher in a 1-0, or 2-1 game. They will almost never scratch out 3 or4 runs against good pitchers. This team would’ve been swept by the 96 Braves. They would not be Pedro’s daddy. Other than Judge and Bellinger there are no smart hitters on the team.
A fish rots at the head first.

  8. Curry was documenting the long hitless stretches yesterday and today against Perez and Cabrera. I’ve been seeing this the last 6 weeks, the Yankee press and broadcasters not so much.

  9. Based on the way the last 15 years under cashman have went, I’m betting Spencer and Lombard will be busts and the catcher they traded to Pittsburgh will be on the 2026 all star team.

    1. I’m thinking the guy we traded to Miami for Jazz may become a big time hitter whether he stays a catcher or not. They said Wells wouldn’t last as a catcher. They didn’t say other than a couple of months he’d be a total bust as a hitter.

  10. There was a lot of shit talking in the news about how great Cashman did at the deadline … because he picked up three four utility guys and a couple of relievers.

    1. He improved the team at the margins. McMahon was a big upgrade but I’m not sure why we needed Caballero and Rosario. I hope Slater can actually hit LHPs. I assume he’ll be in the lineup today. But they’re probably were no big time starters available.

    2. But that’s the Cashman ethos. All of those guys he picked up are going to be worth what? Two wins combined at best? I’d be surprised if they add up to more than 2 WAR by the end of the season, if that. McMahon is a career below average hitters while playing half his games at Coors. His glove is great, but it’s not like Peraza was terrible there. He was an excellent fielder. Cashman went into the season thinking that he could get by with the Ghost of DJLM and Peraza to round out the infield. That was folly. And then when it came time to upgrade he chose the easy way out. Way too many PAs to guys who couldn’t hit and haven’t hit.

And then the staff, it’s not on him that Cole and Schmidt needed TJS, but that should be expected at this point with the emphasis on max velo/spin. And while Matt Blake has coaxed some greatness out of middle relievers, I don’t think that the Yankees have unlocked some secret key and are churning out closers like no tomorrow. It seems like relievers are still incredibly volatile whether they’re Yankees or not.

  11. ā€œI wouldn’t say there’s concern, but I would say I think a little sense of urgency would be good for us,ā€ Yankees catcher/first baseman Ben Rice said.

Look, I’m all for blaming Aaron Boone for everything up to and including the Inquisition, but at some point don’t the players need to take matters into their own hands? Why is Rice talking about urgency like he’s waiting for directives from on high?

    1. Maybe what they need is a sense of pissed off calm resolve and focus., not urgency.

  12. Look at this ridiculous lineup.

    P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
    A Rosario (R) RF
    C Bellinger (L) CF
    G Stanton (R) DH
    A Slater (R) LF
    J Chisholm Jr. (L) 2B
