  1. Miller being traded, and not to the Yankees, was rough. I bet Cashman made a good offer, but fuck, Preller is a goddamn madman, offering the #5 prospect in all of baseball for Miller! Good for Preller. He always goes for it.

  2. Morosi Sources: The Marlins and Yankees have had dialogue about either Sandy Alcántara or Edward Cabrera going to the Bronx.

The Marlins have asked for Spencer Jones (1.115 OPS in the minors this season) as different concepts have been discussed.

    Magic 8 ball says no

  3. Gotta pinch them pennies:

“With a competitive balance tax payroll around $314MM after additions of Ryan McMahon, Amed Rosario, and Austin Slater, the Yankees face a 110% tax on every dollar they add this summer. Alcantara is earning $17MM this year and next, with a club option for 2027. Acquiring Alcantara would mean adding more than $6MM to the Yankees’ CBT ledger for this year, plus a tax of around $6.7MM.”

    1. His last 2 games were good but he’s having a terrible year after missing 2024. Even his last game he gave up 3 hits and 3 walks in 5ip. It would take a helluva read to think he will return to form.

    2. Once good? Currently sucks and getting older every day? Hope and a prayer that there’s a dead cat bounce?

Sounds like a textbook Cash acquisition.

    1. With the amount of guys unavailable tonight (likely no Weaver, Hill or Williams), probably not.

The bullpen is probably De Los Santos, Hamilton, and Brubaker, with Lo as the closer.

      Yikes.

  4. “Hey, we have a 7-0 lead, and just need to get through the top of the fifth inning, how about you just fucking suck, Stroman, and start to blow the lead AND take a long time so that this won’t be an official game?”

  5. Earlier this week the Red Sox won a game 13-1 and someone here posted wondering why the yanks can never do that. At 7-0 AM had a fleeting thought that maybe today will be it. Alas Stroman ruins that rather quickly. Another cashman folly, amazing how this great GM keeps making mistakes on players.

    1. I thought Flores might be good. Maybe we can use Escarra to get a RH catcher

  6. ESPN’s Jeff Passan added the next big piece, another catcher: 19-year old Edgleen Perez.

Perez is thought to have a game mature beyond his years. Catchers take a long time to develop, but the Pirates will have all the time in the world with him, especially if Flores gets to the majors and can hold down that spot himself.

It sounds like the third player is outfield prospect Brian Sanchez.

    1. Why do they want Alcantara? He’s been awful in 2025, and is a pitch away from breaking again.

  7. Roc Riggio and Ben Shields for Bird. #10 and #28. That’s fine. Riggio was never going to play for the Yankees. He was always going to just be a trade asset.

He’s having a good season, but I doubt he will play at second in the majors, and his bat looks less impressive when he’s not a middle infielder.

  8. Curry thinks Bednar comes in behind Weaver and Williams.

No way should he be behind Williams, only in a Boone-World should that even be considered a thing.

  9. Hamilton has an option remaining, so they can send him down when guys return.

I gotta figure its Bednar as the closer, Williams as the 8th inning guy, Weaver as the 7th inning guy.

Then Lo, Hill, Bird, Cruz, and Leiter in the middle innings.

    1. I think they’re gonna let Bednar get his feet wet in non closing situations first. Who knows – maybe he’s another head case who can’t pitch in NY. Then again I think DevoW is and they keep using him…

  10. Whenever the Yankees trade for a relief pitcher mid season I get Jay Witasik nightmares.

Remember when we picked up Alan Embree in 2005? That was awesome. Ha.

Too lazy to look at every trade but I wonder if most of them end up being useless or worse. (Like the Red Sox giving up future HOFer Jeff Bagwell for 22 innings of Larry Andersen)

  11. Texas gets Merrill Kelly and Coulombe.. Olney says the Ms are now the best team in the AL. Astros looking at Cease.
Yankees got better but have other teams improved more?

    1. It was fucking absurd. I get that the Rays don’t come back to New York again this year, but what is even the fucking point of the “official game” rule if they’re going to wait nearly three fucking hours to continue the game?!

  12. Austin Slater death on LHPs or death on the Yankees. Didn’t Cash pick up a guy in 23 or 24 who supposedly hit LHPs and was hopeless.

  13. First and third one out against a LHP with a 5.5 era and our left killer up- double play. Next inning lead off single against a 6 era pitcher-nothing.

    1. Caballero can’t really hit, but he can’t really hit better than Peraza

  14. Curry continues to say that Bednar will set up Williams AND Weaver. Why in the fuck would you trade for an All-Star closer having a great season and NOT have him close?!

They don’t want to offend Williams, who has been here… half a season.

  15. Bird doesn’t seem like much of an improvement on anything (though I guess he’s better than Brooks kriske…and maybe Stroman.)

Doval has a Whip if 1.2 and ERA over 3. Big deal. Maybe better than the head case DevoW?

Bednar is good; I just hope he doesn’t choke in NY.

  16. The rotation is still a mess and we either need a bat or for Wells to step up or Jazz to be more consistent. phenom will always be phenom. Did we improve more than Texas, Houston, Boston or Seattle? I don’t think this is a championship team.

    1. Oh, well they have Gil coming back. Which is the biggest trade they could make, you know.

  17. The roster still seems a bit odd to me from the hitter side of things.

    C Wells/Rice (1/2)
    1B Goldschmidt (3)
    2B Jazz(4)
    SS Volpe (5)
    3B McMahon (6)
    Utility Rosario/Caballero (7/8)
    LF Dominguez (9)
    CF Grisham (10)
    RF Bellinger (11)
    DH Judge/Stanton (12/13)
    OF Slater (14)

See what I mean? That’s 14 guys. That means a 12-man pitching staff, and the Yankees OBVIOUSLY aren’t going to have a 12-man pitching staff.

Sooooooo……..huh? Will they actually send Dominguez down when Judge returns until September, when rosters expand?!

    1. Oh, awesome, then that’s the solution right there. You send Caballero down until September, and then he’s a pinch-runner in the playoffs.

  18. I’m sure we’re going to read that cash had a deal to trade Grisham + for a starter on the Marlins but at the last minute the deal died. And that’s why we now have 14 players for 13 positions.

Remember when we traded a starter for a CF in a boot? Because another deal was about to be made…

Whatever. They aren’t winning with this team and this manager.

  19. Conor Foley

Pitches Thrown 98.0+ mph by Relievers This Season:
    182 – Camilo Doval
    39 – David Bednar
32 – 2025 Yankees (31 by Jonathan Loaisiga; 1 by Yerry de los Santos)

  20. Pinstripe Alley
    ‪@pinstripealley.bsky.social‬
Assuming health, the Headrick/Brubaker call will come tomorrow when they know if all the new relievers made it into Miami for the weekend series.
Headrick is better but can be optioned; Brubaker would be a DFA. (Then another move on Sunday for Gil.)

  21. Braves and Reds each score eight in the 8th. Third time in MLB history both teams scored 8 in the same inning.
Braves win 12-11 in OT. Carrasco 6ip 3r 7h 95 pitches. Did the Yankees keep the wrong washed up starter?
