This is obviously a terrible matchup, but as revealed earlier, the plan was for Cam Schlittler to start this game, but he had some soreness. They got him an MRI, and it came back clean, which is VERY good news (MRIs tend not to miss problems), and he’ll likely start a game in Toronto. So they had to go with a bullpen game tonight against the Braves’ best starter. Ungood. At least the Red Sox lost already.
Hamilton
Lo
Hill
Rico Garcia
Effross
Brubaker
Weaver
Williams
I guess the plan is Hamilton for two, Lo for two, then Brubaker for bulk, with the rest of the game depending on the game situation. I don’t get why Dominguez isn’t leading off, and why Stanton isn’t starting. I know Atlanta is starting a lefty tomorrow, so I guess the idea is to not have Rice miss the first two games of the series?
Tonight will be a bullpen game for the Yankees behind Ian Hamilton, Aaron Boone said. No real bulk reliever, though Rico Garcia and JT Brubaker may go multiple innings.
Wow, so not even two innings for Hamilton? That’s interesting.
I love the idea of, “Hey, Rico Garcia, you suck, and you just showed up here, so how about you pitch multiple innings for us tonight?”
11-18 last 29 games
Stop expanding the fucking zone, Judge!
To be fair, he got fucked on the first called strike, but dude, just let it go.
He’s been doing a lot of that lately, too much in fact.
No Stanton after the ASB? Is he hurt?
The only possible theory I have is that Stanton is definitely going to start tomorrow, so they didn’t want to sit Rice for the first two games out of the break.
Off to a good start, not.
I’ll give them this much. This obviously wasn’t their PLAN, so whatever, I get it.
But it still sucks.
If only a crash and burn would mean an end to the well past his use by date GM Brian Cashman, replaced by some young, smart GM, then it would almost be worth it.
Great plan Aaron. Rodon seriously can’t pitch off a week?
He DID pitch on Tuesday.
An inning, his throw day.
And even if this was a last minute thing, Ian Hamilton can’t pitch THIS poorly. Holy shit, dude.
When we last saw Hamilton he gave up a home run to the mutts.
That last pitch to walk Murphy, it was like he rolled it to the plate! 3-2, and you’re nowhere NEAR a strike?!
Is this park especially big? It seemed like Dominguez was a million miles away when he caught that flyball.
Spencer Jones not in lineup tonight.
Strider is a good pitcher, but boy, he’s just fucking TOYING with these dudes.
Volpe finally hits the ball well, but Harris had the time to run forever in this giant park to catch it.
When shitty Rico Garcia is looking much better than you, that’s very much ungood, Hamilton.
That’s horseshit that they say Profrar didn’t offer at that pitch.
Ha, Garcia heard the compliment, and quickly decided to stop throwing strikes.
Jays up 4-0.
It’s weird that the Giants just won’t quit on Verlander, right?
Strider just embarrassed the shit out of Wells. It’s like they’re Little Leaguers against Strider tonight.
Ah, the joys of Yankees base running.
This giant fucking park, man. It’s just fucking them over left and right tonight.
That said, is being a shitty baserunner a requirement to be on the Yankees?!
Wow this team teaches stupid from the minors to the majors, up and down the farm system.
It was beyond stupid, though. It was just lazy. They should have just yanked him from the game as a punishment.
Imagine being, like, “Shit, I better get to third with two outs for AARON JUDGE.”
Robbing Judge of batting with two men on is just insane. Vivas wasn’t even fucking RUNNING HARD. It was INSANE.
Stupid creates lazy.
Where was the 3rd base coach?
However, as dumb as that was by Vivas, we should give Acuna credit for how amazing that throw was.
How often does the guy who makes a shitty baserunning play at third also make a terrible defensive play the next inning?
At this point, they really have to let Garcia pitch the next couple of innings. Just waste his arm, and DFA him after the game.
Hard to believe that a 31 year old,d pitcher with a career 6.5 era and a WHIP of 1.686 would suck and is more likely to succeed than Beeter or Winans or even Carlos Fucking Carrasco. A WHIP of 1.686 has to be historic. Cash sure can pick em.
Now 11-19 last 30 games that’s 37% barely ahead of the White Sox at 33% and crushing Colorado.
Three behind Toronto, one up on Boston, 2 1/2 up on Tampa.
We’re on a road to nowhere
Come on inside
Takin’ that ride to nowhere
We’ll take that ride
I totally blocked it out of my memory that Justin Verlander won Rookie of the Year. Even now knowing that information, I STILL can’t remember it.
That’s the 4th straight good to very good starter, 2 righties and 2 lefties who dominated us.
Has anyone suggested to the Yankees that they try NOT sucking?
They should probably also try just starting Stanton when he’s in the middle of one of his hot streaks.
I suppose against Strider it’s ok but in general he should be starting 2/3 or 3/4.
Giants have 11 hits and they’re going to be shutout.
From the Yankee Source on nuTwitter:
Aaron Judge hasn’t had a hit this year with :
2 outs, bases loaded (0 for 4, 2K)
2 outs, 1st and 3rd (5K in 6 AB)
2 outs, 2nd and 3rd (3BB in 3PA)
He’s striking out like it’s 2017.
Had to wait a week for this?
Rays and Jays win. Yankees look moribund. Is the Cashman-Boone string finally running out?
Is Spencer Jones hurt or on the trading block? Newsweek has some bizarre rumors including Jones for Jose Ramirez.
