Grisham really fits so much better in the #6 spot.
Boyd seems like just the sort of pitcher who will shut the Yankees down, so Fried will have to deal with no run support again.
That was not a good start.
Fried is a very good pitcher, but boy, does it feel like he’s good at letting the team down at times, too.
Carson Kelly studied Barry Bonds and decided it was the right hip that was the secret to his success?
Yes, Fried gave up a run in the first, but on the bright side, he only took 28 pitches to get through the inning.
Oh…wait…
Yes, Fried took 28 pitches, but at least the Yankees are making Boyd work.
Oh…wait.
Okay, Judge at least made him work a bit, and he hit it fucking HARD, but all for naught, as PCA robbed him of at least a double.
I mean, I guess you have to give Fried credit for battling, but in general, this is NOT good.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are getting dominated by Boyd.
Not scoring ten today. Or three.
0 runs on 20 pitches through two, versus 1 run on 44 pitches through two.
Gulp.
Also, why is Grisham playing when he seems to be pretty darn obviously limited with his movement?!
He should have caught the Hoerner triple.
Boonistic
The All-Star break can’t get here soon enough for Fried, who looks like he’s tiring a bit. He hasn’t had his best stuff today, but he’s at least battling.
Fried for 5 and Brubaker for 3. We’ll be fine.
They should probably just pull Fried at this point. He just doesn’t have it today.
DJ could’ve done that Jazz.
I don’t want to hear about how they almost had a double play there, though, as there was no way they were turning two on that. Jazz should have just held on to the ball.
They really should just take him out at this point. The game’s over, why have Fried’s stats ruined more? Just let Brubaker and Beeter mop this shit up.
By by Cy, congratulations Crochet on your Cy and World Series MVP.
Fried better not come out for the fourth.
They’re not even making Boyd crack a sweat.
They’re going to waste Hamilton on this shit? How odd.
Defensible because the ASB is coming. Otherwise no.
Yeah, fair enough.
Okay, Fried is hurt. Seems like a blister or a broken nail. That explains Frieds’ shittiness.
Fried apparently has gone on the IL four times with blisters over the past six years. That’s annoying.
Hamilton has really turned his season around the last month or so. He’s almost worked his way back up to the Circle of Trust.
Not a big deal, but I have no idea why Judge is batting third and Bellinger second today.
Who’s the manager?
Second time in the last two weeks that the Yankees were hurt by their pitcher pitching hurt, and thus sucking.
Fuck, that was a REALLY good curve Boyd used to K Stanton. I give Stanton a lot of shit for the crazy ass pitches he swings at sometimes, but that was a pitch that no one could have laid off of. And even if he HAD, it was a strike.
At least it is only a blister.
True, but that’s been enough to send him to the IL a number of times in the past, so that’s concerning.
But yes, obviously, a blister is not nearly as significant as, well, ANYthing.
The more I watch the game, the more irked I am at Trent Grisham playing through a sore hamstring. Just let him fucking rest, dudes!
Lo actually had a good inning, so Boone just HAD to push it.
Lo is one more problem
I mean, I know the game was over, but why in the WORLD was Peraza allowed to hit there?
They don’t bother to hit for Peraza in the 8th, man on?
I guess Boone felt (moronically) that a shitty righty was better in that spot than either of the two two lefties on the bench.
Going back to at least 2017 Yankee teams have mostly failed to put a dent into good pitchers on their game. I dont mean beat them up but rather to scratch out 2 or 3 in 7.
No shutout. Big whoop.
Helps Judge in dealing with this BS Raleigh MVP challenge.
What I don’t get is why did Fried even pitch at all? Brubaker sucks, but I think I’d just as soon have seen Brubaker leading a bullpen game over Fried pitching with blisters that were obviously bothering him from the start.
