Like I said, they showed me they weren’t COMPLETE losers by tying the game last night after being down 8-0. Let’s see if they have enough gumption to at least not get swept in a four-game series like assholes (can’t say that I feel too good about their chances).
The yanks are a bit like the abbot and Costello routine – who’s on first, I don’t know, 3rd base! It always ends with 3rd base. Morons.
Nice take Jazz. And so it starts.
A quick 0-1 with RISP.
As for the Jazz at-bat, it shouldn’t be, “This guy gives more strikes on the inside against lefties.” That’s absurd.
Their obsession with walking Springer in front of Vlad is maddening.
Good to know Schmidt’s control is fucked, too.
The “Retire Addison Barger” challenge is too much for them.
No lie, I was oddly relieved it was only a double.
Boy do they look like the better team or what?
They have some guys in hot streaks while the yankees have Judge and a bunch of dudes in big slumps.
Okay, time for a quick 0-4 with RISP.
0-2. One more to go and then Peraza is an automatic out.
0-3. Pray for a wild pitch.
0-4. Amazing.
To be fair, they ARE driving up his pitch count, at least.
Here’s what I don’t get about Peraza. Surely SOME shitty team could use a good defensive shortstop, and the Yankees could just trade Peraza for a bag of balls, and then just try out random minor league retreads at third base. Jazz could be the backup shortstop.
Peraza’s lack of options are really messing with them.
These walks are brutal, Schmidt. Walking the fucking #8 and using seven pitches to do so?! Just terrrrible.
Schmidt’s pitch count was briefly okay, but then he thought, “Nah, fuck that.”
It’s the #9 hitter, just go after him!!!
He got him, but after seven excruciating pitches. Just an awful approach by Schmidt tonight. They need length, and he’s not going to give it at this rate.
Yankees o/u 1.5
Attaboy, Clarke, way to respond to the tying home run!
It’s like they’re allergic to making things easier on themselves.
phenom leads the majors in runners left on at 152, heading towards under 700 OPS. Will he wind up at 660 as he did the last 2 years? And he’s -2 OAA.
He was two behind the other night, and then he left two on. So yeah, add the one today, and i guess so.
Fucking Schmidt. This whole team is a bunch of losers right now.
Can you even IMAGINE giving up a home run and then throwing two straight balls to the next guy?!
This whole team is in their own heads right now. The pressure is killing them.
The entire pitching staff is melting down; many seem rather gutless at that.
They’re definitely all looking like the pressure is too much for them. It’s really gross to see.
The guy almost threw a no-hitter two starts ago, and now he’s afraid to throw strikes. It’s pathetic.
As previously noted, The “Retire Addison Barger” challenge is too much for them.
They are the better team. They seem to have a lot of guys who can hit, 789 on the Yankees are all useless.
Second bad start in a row for Schmidt.
Yeah, it’s very aggravating when your entire rotation all have bad games in the same series.
There’s less pressure hitting down 8-0 than in a close game.
That’s why it was so notable that they actually tied it. I agree that if they had just gotten close, it wouldn’t have been as impressive.
When this team panics, they all panic. This gotta be on the manager.
It’s a fair concern. They all definitely get tight at once.
You could pinch hit for Peraza right now.
You just can’t let him hit there.
Please, Cash, just get Peraza off of the team. You need a guy who could even THEORETICALLY get a sac fly there.
I agree but they needed to pinch hit DJ (GASP!) there.
Clutch wild pitch time!
Yankee RBI leaders:
1. Judge
2. Wild pitches
I truly don’t believe that the Blue Jays are any good, either. Their pitchers have been bad, too, just not quite AS bad. Their defense is just as sloppy as the Yankees.
They have a couple of guys who are hot and they’re carrying them against a slumping Yankees team.
Schmidt’s hurt?
Beeter was already warming, so hopefully it’s precautionary.
Beeter no better.
Right forearm tightness. Cone “red flag.”
Ungood.
See you in 2027, Schmidt!
phenom extending his mlb lead in LOB. You can’t even remotely expect him to get 2 hits withRISP in the same game.
At least Gil should be back soon. I guess you could use Schlitter until then. Stroman’s dark magic works again!
Schmidt at least has a reason for sucking. Rodón, Fried, and Warren have none.
Martian has got to start leading off games against righties.
Volpe leading the majors!
If a guy is having a hard time “bouncing back,” just put him on the fucking IL! They likely led to Schmidt tearing something by having him pitch through it.
The Yankees pitchers are learning the big difference between AAA and the Majors.
How bad is the upper Yankee farm system. The only players at Scranton with even a chance at being good is Spencer Jones.
Schlittlet shit the bed last night.
Addison Barger is obviously not THIS good. This is some fluky shit.
Only Arnold Rothstein could get a win this game.
Or Luis Ortiz.
I would put in Brubaker and punt the game
Getting swept 4-games by the Jays, a Cashman-Boone spectacular. Talk about circling the drain.
They had to hit for Peraza in the 4th.
why do the Yankees hate America? letting a Canadian team win on 4th of July weekend? shameful.
Sic:What’s the comments in Vegas on the new tax rule for gamblers?
Just scored enough to lose.
I love that Leiter is pitching in this fucking game.
Very nice team. Nice swing on a pitch that hits you Cody.
Denied even the sweet pleasure of a 1 run loss.
They weren’t winning anyways, but HOLY SHIT, WEAVER?!
Every single pitcher this series has decided to pick this series to be at their absolute worst (Schmidt has an excuse. No one else does).
George Springer this series has just been insane.
I guess you could argue that Lo didn’t have a bad series. He’s the ONLY YANKEE PITCHER who didn’t fucking suck. Isn’t that kind of crazy? Whatever you think about this team, the fact that EVERY SINGLE PITCHER except Lo sucked is some weird nonsense.
That shit ain’t normal.
Getting a couple of more RISP fails just for the heck of it.
Oh, by the way, just bat Dominguez leadoff going forward. He has no power, but he can get hits, and has a surprisingly good eye.
Volpe added to his league-leading runners left in scoring position.
That was an awesome dedication to RISP fail in the ninth.
So now a game out of first, and tied for second. Too funny.
And Stroman will be a fixture in the rotation (which, I mean, whatever, Stroman as the #5 starter isn’t a big deal. It’s more the loss of Schmidt than having to use Stroman is the problem).
Weaver last 4 games, 3.1ip, 4h, 5r 10.50era. Last 15 games 5.27 era. He was a mediocre pitcher before last year and now he’s gone the way of so many flash in the pan relievers.
It’s a little too convenient that this all happened as soon as he came off the IL, though, ya know? So I wonder if something’s wrong with him physically.
Maybe that first bad game went to his head.
I’ll admit that not having Schmidt for the rest of the season has legit changed my view of this team. I think they’re still a decent team, but without Schmidt, that really lowers their ceiling a LOT.
Wow 2-14 RISP, much better than 2-17
It’s MIND-BOGGLING how many runners they get on to suck this bad. That’s an INSANE amount of baserunners in scoring position. How can they suck this badly?!?
i only caught the end, they need to make some serious adjustments and quickly.
Spencer Jones 3-4 with 2 doubles, 5th AAA game hitting 450/1522.
Boone: Schmidt’s forearm’s been bothering him.On Weaver some good, some bad, likes his profile and velo, needs to get to the next level of execution. The team needs to embrace the adversity.
So naturally they kept pitching Schmidt.
This is an unserious organization. Cashman has been past his use by day since he passed on Verlander in 2017.
i see the complaints about the minors and it’s true they haven’t graduated a lot of top tier talent (at least offensively) but the offensive thing is the dumb shit they pull when they bring up a hot hand just to sit him. or other inexplicable things like how they have that guy Rumfield stashed away (and having another good year) but last season when Rizzo was obviously washed they wouldn’t give him an at bat when they had a dire need for a 1b that had played there. Rice had way fewer games. So why is everyone always out of position or not in the right slot for the depth? not ragging on rice, i like ben. it’s just the shenanigans of Volpe the anointed and everyone else sit or hide. Does Hal watch baseball?
Katie S 14 losses, 159 runners left on base, 79 runs
It’s the 1st time since 1990 that they’ve had any 20-game stretch with …
✅14+ Losses
✅159+ Runners LOB
✅79 or fewer Runs
And they scored 9 yesterday.
They should be proud of reaching such depths of incompetence. Said it for years, they have no approach with RISP except to flail away.
Cashman is unserious. The organization is unserious.
