Probably not a good sign that Austin Wells is not starting today after today was supposed to be his return to the lineup (although perhaps they just meant that he’d be AVAILABLE to play starting today). I guess you could do worse than just making Rice the starter behind the plate, though.
Trent Grisham isn’t on the IL yet.
Hopefully Jazz gets to second base soon. I imagine they’re working on the changeover during practice. I imagine it’ll happen soon.
They lost terribly in the two GOOD pitching matchups, so now that the Blue Jays have the advantage, this is going to be buh-rooooo-tal.
Think the Yankees have been bad? The Boys of Shea are now 3-15 in their last 18 games.
Well one NY team is going go win a series this weekend!
We play today we lose today, Das it!
Was Hartlieb out of options? It was interesting to see him DFAed rather than sent down.
That gives the Yankees an opening on the 40-man, since Beeter was already on the 40-man.
The Rays have won.
Yankees 6-12 last 18 with a BA RISP of 166 worst in baseball
I do not like this pitching matchup. I do not trust Warren. I do think Berrios is good. Yesterday was a must win.
you don’t trust all time yankees consecutive scoreless innings record holder will warren?
damn no one called me out about getting warren and schmidt mixed up, we are all getting old and will die without another parade.
Maybe Warren could just try NOT sucking in the first inning instead of adjusting AFTER the first inning.
0-2 count, time for Rice to interfere with Springer!
Two on, no outs, good start so far by Warren. 🧹
what could go wrong here falling behind vlad with two on?
Even better now, bases loaded and no outs. Now, if this were the Yankees batting, the pitcher would have them right where he wanted them.
They should save some pitches and just start each game with the bases loaded for Warren. This is some weird shit that he does.
He isn’t very good.
At least this one was over quickly.
Game nearly over, they never come from behind more than 2-runs. Nice job, Warren.
Game over. Thanks, Warren. I’d call this a gutless outing.
This is like 2023 Rodon all over again. Hitters are obviously sitting on certain pitches from him EVERY GAME, and then he adjusts. So just adjust BEFORE that point, you fucking idiot!
They’re all swinging aggressively early in the count, so throw OTHER PITCHES.
Where’s our genius pitching coach?
This is much worse.
He got an out! Congratulations, Will.
They’re all swinging first pitch, and destroying him.
I was going to predict this game would be over by the second. I was too optimistic. Warren has an occasional good inning but I’ve never liked him A 10 era last year. A 6 era last year in the minors. And in the minors he had a few games like this. He’s 26, he’s not a kid, I just don’t think he’s ever done enough tomsay he has tremendous potential.
Meanwhile Schittler is starting at Scranton tonight.
As noted, yesterday was the big game. You have to win the game your ace pitches, but Fried simply choked.
O/U runs for the Jays now at 15.
Yankees batters v. Will Warren, there’s a thought.
can boone get fired soon?
At halftime.
George would have Will Warren and Matt Blake gone.
Third place on or before Sunday. Fourth place by September 1.
If this game weren’t over that call would piss me off.
Ay-yep.
A quick 0/2 RISP
this is the i’ve seen this one meme every season. with the same characters.
The walks are just insane. You’re just eating innings at this point, dude, just throw fucking strikes.
Deja Vu. The New York Yankees lost first place and were swept in a doubleheader by the Toronto Blue Jays on September 12, 2015. The Blue Jays won both games of the doubleheader, taking the first game 9-5 in 11 innings and the second game 10-7, according to MLB.com.
Gotta love to see the offense respond. Oh, they haven’t? Shocking.
You need an offense in order to respond.
time for a closed door meeting where boone gives everybody ice cream
I was watching an old World Series of Poker, guy got knocked out day 1 with 4 aces losing to a royal flush.
😲
The Yankees are good at mowing themselves down.
Big deadline move upcoming, a bullpen arm.
I had to step out for an hour, what did I miss? Oh. I see.
Good grief. Either cashman does something big or this season is going down in flames. Or is it up in flames? Whatever. They’re going nowhere with this team and this manager. Time to tune out until the owner and GM half as much as the fans.
At the very least, this HAS to be Jazz’s last game at third base.
You underestimate their stupidity.
If Warren hadn’t of given up 10 hits and 4 walks this game could be scoreless now.
Or 6-0 Yankees.
Huh? I did not know that.
Schlittler got bombed tonight also at Scranton, 2.1ip 7r 7h. Guess Warren is safe.
Spence off to a hot start in AAA, 2/3 with a home run hitting 375/1412.
Lot of AAAA hitters in AAA.
Watch the game end 8-7, with the error at third being the difference.
That is optimistic, holding the Jays to zero runs the rest of the game.
Berrios’ performance is much worse, since his came against the Yankees.
They do NOT like making Toronto pay for the disrespect.
My Jazz scenario is now in play.
Good job, Volpe!
phenom
The overrated pen fails to do the job.
Fortunately it looks like Judge is getting hot again.
The last 2 days I watched the whole game, this I missed most of.
They know how to lose.
The overrated pen strikes again.
I don’t even know what the plan was. Williams for the 8th and then, what, Lo for the 9th? That’s a pretty stupid plan. You’re on the road and it’s a tie game, you’re always going to need to have someone close out the game, so why use Williams there?
This bullpen is hot garbage.
Figures, they score 9 runs and are going to lose because Warren was a scaredy-cat and the bullpen stinks.
LHBs have a lower BA vs Devin but a much higher OPS and Barger’s been hot. Should they have walked him?
If they had to lose I wouldve preferred a 1 run loss.
It’s pretty hilarious that Williams has had, like, 20 straight good games and chooses now to fucking suck.
If losing this season gets Boone fired, I’m all in. Sadly, it won’t.
I don’t think we’re going to get a lot of clean innings when Leiter, Hill and Hamilton are involved. I don’t think we’re going to get too many starts that go through 7. So they have to hit.
Strangely Devin’s era is actually higher than Warren’s, 5.17 to 5.02.
They’re ESPECIALLY not going to get clean innings after throwing Leiter out there constantly like Boone is trying to Sturtze him.
Boone was pleased with the effort and hopes it will springboard us a little bit. Williams not much off, a couple of things not going are way. Didn’t want to walk Berger, didn’t want to get in the intentional walk game (huh?)
Now 10-15 vs AL East.

Nice!
