  1. Rodon pitched well but 5 innings and the back or our pen is now Hamilton, Brubaker and Hartlieb? (career era over 7). They really hate Beeter.
And no days off next week. Yankees need to put up way more crooked numbers to survive.

    1. Why not? I expect our good relievers to get good hitters out. Lo has a 4.15 era this season.

    2. Yep, or are we to expect a decent hitter, Vlad, to always get a hit against them? Well then, they aren’t very good pitchers, are they.

  2. Want to know how bad Peraza is without looking at his numbers? DJ is an everyday player.. And what the fuck was that pitch he swung at?

  3. We seem to be losing the battle of the pens frequently this year. Cruz is out. Lo is not what he used to be. Leiter and Hill are decent. Then there’s Hamilton, Brubaker and Hartlieb.

    1. 6 games under Pythagorean is likely just the six games Boone blew by being an idiot, so it works out mathematically.

  4. Fernando Cruz has a “high grade” oblique strain, Aaron Boone said. “It’s going to be some time.”

Hello Hamilton, Brubaker and 31 year old Hartlieb who’s already failed with 4 MLB teams to the tune of a 7 era.

  5. How long do the Yankees leave schlittler in AAA?

It seems they would prefer to keep him in the rotation, but at what point does the MLB bp need force the issue? Maybe after the AS break?

    1. he’ll need to be added to the 40 man … not that it matters much, there are a lot of fungible arms on there.

  6. goldschmidt has been an excellent glove and i think he’s a hall of famer but his last 97 pa (138-219-230) make dj look good.

this team is very frustrating with the imbecilic defense, disappearing offense, and the injuries piling up like a nyc emergency room on a holiday.

    1. I think the days of trying to squeeze in starter PAs for Stanton, Goldschimdt, and Grisham should be over. These guys have regressed significantly or are cooked. DJLM would bench bound too if they had competent 2B or 3B.

Let Rice and Dominguez play every day. I know Grish will be out for a little bit.

    2. Goldschmidt sure, but Grisham is 964 over the last 14 days and 707 over the last 28. The extent of his injury may make that decision moot. Stanton you just gotta wait on.

    3. Grisham has an .864 over the last 14 but his K-rate has gone up 10% to almost 30% in June and his OPS month by month looks like this: 1.009 (April), .775 (May, and .690 (June). His HRs have followed the same trajectory: 8, 5, 2. He had a super hot April, but he’s a 4th OFer.

I’m less optimistic about Stanton. His baseball savant page shows that he hits the ball hard when he hits it, but that’s a rare event these days. Rice, Jazz and Judge are the Yankees best hitters and they should be getting the bulk of PAs.

  7. Some June numbers, three good hitters and a bunch of 2013ish hitters.
    PGold 464
    DJ 703 surprises me
    phenom 665
    Jazz 991
    Judge 967
    Trent 690
    Cody 854
    Martian 657 dissapointing
    Stanton 604
Rice 636 been unlucky,229 fir season Savant xBA 295, batting run value 81
    Wells 647

  8. 3pm game. Rice sits against RHP Gaussman
    P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
    C Bellinger (L) CF
    A Judge (R) RF
    J Chisholm Jr. (L) 3B
    G Stanton (R) DH
    J Domínguez (S) LF
    A Volpe (R) SS
    J Escarra (L) C
    D LeMahieu (R) 2B

  9. Aaron Boone said Trent Grisham isn’t heading to the injured list just yet. The #Yankees are still evaluating him before making a decision.

Bryan De La Cruz MLB career 251/698, this year at Scranton 250/750, has joined the team in Toronto as part of the taxi squad.

    1. Stanton hitting 231/589. He was ok last year but in 2023 he hit 191/695. He looks washed up.

    2. he also ruined the chemistry of that team as well. not with his personality but he takes a spot, strikes out too often, and runs station to station.

they could win that way when they were hitting but it doesn’t work if dj and stanton have nothing left. but for a few more years we can kick the tires to be sure.

  10. Kay says the way Toronto is managing the game shows they have no respect for the non Judge hitters. And they’re right to feel that way.

  11. Back to back games of catcher interference for Escarra, 1-19 throwing runners out, who in his defense can’t hit. Giving Narvaez away was another under the radar blunder for Cashman.

Team effort 1–14 RISP, huge defensive mistakes by Jazz and JC. The pen imploding. Boone has instilled pure panic in this team. Coulda been a 1 run loss instead of this.

  12. Fuck JC Escarra. Fuck Brian Cashman for making so many poor roster decisions. Yankee pen 10 .13 ERA last 4 games. phenom can’t hit and has been erratic defensively. The Toronto manger managing like no one on the Yankees can hurt you other than Judge. And they’re 100% correct.

Third place by Sunday. Fourth place by September 15th.

  13. This reminds me of 2023. Also the year the Yankees went into Toronto and got blown away twice in a double header. That was a better Toronto team than this one.

  14. For a player’s manager who imparts calm, Boone seems to impart mostly stupidity and panic. It’s not just that he’s a terrible tactical manager.

  15. Katie S J.C. Escarra has 3 catcher’s interference this season, tied with Victor Caratini for the most in MLB.

[fwiw, there are 7 teams that still haven’t committed a catcher’s interference]

But he also can’t hit or throw runners out. Thanks Cashman.

  16. The Yankees minor league system is so bad that they can’t produce young hard throwing relievers instead relying on washed up, never was guys like Hartlieb and Brubaker? Or a middle infielder who can hit 220 instead of 157?

    1. What I’ve been saying for years.

Take out Judge, and what has the Yankees MiL system produced since 2013, the year they drafted Judge?

    2. Cash getting Gallo, Donaldson, IKF and Verdugo, extending Hixie and DJ, while not possibly getting Seager and earlier Machado didn’t help.

  17. Boone:RISP we gotta cash in; we’ve been very diligent about catcher’s interference; we obviously got to play a little bit better (defense); we’ll talk about switching DJ and Jazz on defense.

  18. I was so disgusted with last night that I skipped today (which was wrong of me, I apologize, I won’t do it again), and, of course, they were almost MORE pathetic today.

Really, this game is mostly on Fried choking.

Beyond that, though, you know who the biggest loser is? Hartlieb. The game’s over, all you need to do is throw strikes, and he couldn’t even do THAT.

    1. He made a bad pitch. It happens. Jazz made an error and it sounds like they’re very serious about switching Jazz and DJ. Curry made the point that each was better suited for the other position. Meanwhile 2-17 with RISP.

Brian no need to apologize. You’re doing a great job on something nobody’s paying you for or helping you with. So thank you!

    1. Wow Yankees’ batting average against
LeMahieu (2B), Volpe (SS), Chisholm (3B)
      .310 AVG
      Chisholm (2B), Volpe (SS), Peraza/Cabrera (3B)
      .191 AVG
