Would be nice for Rodon to not suck tonight. WOULD be nice, but, well, you know…
Not liking how easily Scherzer shut them down in the first.
Once it was 2-0, probably should have just walked Vladdy.
Hopefully the Jays won’t let Scherzer complete the perfect game.
Okay, the pitch count will probably also keep him from the perfect game, too.
The Red Sox made Chase Burns look like a total chump.
He looked good against us. Oh wait, I see.
Seems like he was tipping his pitches tonight. Duran told the others, and they all destroyed Burns.
The Yanks have their new offense down pat. One good offensive game a week and hoping the other teams all lose.
Rodon is such a dumb pitcher. Hopefully he gets out of this inning okay, but boy, this is such dumb pitching.
Will they he in first place by the weekend?
When does judge drop below 340?
Will we get a 3b this year?
So many questions.
Good job moving Jazz up in the lineup, Boonie.
Scatman: That wasn’t a HOF pitch, ba-da-ba-da-bee.
That didn’t just miss. That didn’t miss.
OK Stanton you’re so due.
Not what I was hoping for but it will do.
Quality dig on Suzy from Cone.
Rodon pitched well but 5 innings and the back or our pen is now Hamilton, Brubaker and Hartlieb? (career era over 7). They really hate Beeter.
And no days off next week. Yankees need to put up way more crooked numbers to survive.
These fucking LOSERS. Volpe only seems to get tight when him making an error is actually a big deal.
You just know they’re losing this game.
Nice range. Dumb throw.
Grisham solved the playing time conundrum by being hurt.
Okay, sounds like hamstring TIGHTNESS, which hopefully won’t mean more than a week.
Except for yesterday’s game, Jazz has been pretty much the whole offense.
Jesus Christ, Escarra.
Collective stupidity. A Boone trademark.
And on an 0-2 pitch, of fucking course.
Reflections of the manager.
I can’t even complain about Lo, as Vladdy is just a good hitter. Maybe if he had an open base to work with.
Rays, of course, came back from being down 4-0.
Why not? I expect our good relievers to get good hitters out. Lo has a 4.15 era this season.
Bases loaded, one out, is a tough spot for ANY pitcher to be in, but facing a hitter like Vladdy is even harder.
Yep, or are we to expect a decent hitter, Vlad, to always get a hit against them? Well then, they aren’t very good pitchers, are they.
That ball was smoked. But I wonder if some third basemen couldn’t have turned that into an easy double play.
It’s amazing how often the fielder who makes a stupid throw leads off the next inning.
Now for them to get mowed down for three innings like the Boone’s they are.
Want to know how bad Peraza is without looking at his numbers? DJ is an everyday player.. And what the fuck was that pitch he swung at?
One inning of getting mowed down out of the way, with a terrible AB by Jasson to end the top of the seventh.
Maybe Judge can strike out again? He’s striking out like it’s 2017.
We seem to be losing the battle of the pens frequently this year. Cruz is out. Lo is not what he used to be. Leiter and Hill are decent. Then there’s Hamilton, Brubaker and Hartlieb.
There are no magic inducing pitching coaches.
This is wild. This can’t be smart. Walking Judge with no one on, up 1?
And that wasn’t smart Jazz. Collective stupidity a Boone trademark.
only boone could be that dumb
It was SO fucking stupid.
Chad Green 6+ era last 12 games.
You should NOT pinch run for Stanton here.
Can you really pinch run for Stanton with Peraza down 1? He’s not on second.
It’s ABSURD. I guess the theory is that Goldschmidt can hit later.
That was some tough luck by Rice.
Then Volpe lines out.
Yankees 12-16 in 1 run games. I’m rooting for xtra innings on the road. but I don’t see the Yankees scoring here.
Do they have to pinch hit for DJ?
DJ is so bad. He can’t even make contact any more. Nice bench Cash.
Making Jeff Hoffman 4.98 era look like Trevor Hoffman
Now 12-17 in 1-run games.
12-17 in one run games. Yankees never come back but often surrender leads. Third place by Sunday? Fourth place by September 15th?
Underperforming our Pythag by six.Worst underperformance in the MLB.
6 games under Pythagorean is likely just the six games Boone blew by being an idiot, so it works out mathematically.
Plus the other 6 games he also blew by being an idiot.
This game seriously pissed me off more than some of the Red Sox losses, because that sixth inning was just SO pathetic.
At least the Rays lost.
This whole month pissed me off.
Huzzah! June is over. 🎉
can we leave boone with it?
Fernando Cruz has a “high grade” oblique strain, Aaron Boone said. “It’s going to be some time.”
Hello Hamilton, Brubaker and 31 year old Hartlieb who’s already failed with 4 MLB teams to the tune of a 7 era.
See ya in 2026, Cruz!
How long do the Yankees leave schlittler in AAA?
It seems they would prefer to keep him in the rotation, but at what point does the MLB bp need force the issue? Maybe after the AS break?
he’ll need to be added to the 40 man … not that it matters much, there are a lot of fungible arms on there.
goldschmidt has been an excellent glove and i think he’s a hall of famer but his last 97 pa (138-219-230) make dj look good.
this team is very frustrating with the imbecilic defense, disappearing offense, and the injuries piling up like a nyc emergency room on a holiday.
I think the days of trying to squeeze in starter PAs for Stanton, Goldschimdt, and Grisham should be over. These guys have regressed significantly or are cooked. DJLM would bench bound too if they had competent 2B or 3B.
Let Rice and Dominguez play every day. I know Grish will be out for a little bit.
Goldschmidt sure, but Grisham is 964 over the last 14 days and 707 over the last 28. The extent of his injury may make that decision moot. Stanton you just gotta wait on.
Grisham has an .864 over the last 14 but his K-rate has gone up 10% to almost 30% in June and his OPS month by month looks like this: 1.009 (April), .775 (May, and .690 (June). His HRs have followed the same trajectory: 8, 5, 2. He had a super hot April, but he’s a 4th OFer.
I’m less optimistic about Stanton. His baseball savant page shows that he hits the ball hard when he hits it, but that’s a rare event these days. Rice, Jazz and Judge are the Yankees best hitters and they should be getting the bulk of PAs.
Some June numbers, three good hitters and a bunch of 2013ish hitters.

Aaron Boone said Trent Grisham isn’t heading to the injured list just yet. The #Yankees are still evaluating him before making a decision.
Bryan De La Cruz MLB career 251/698, this year at Scranton 250/750, has joined the team in Toronto as part of the taxi squad.
Bases loaded, 2 out. Goody.
And the Martian sneaks one thru.
Fried and the pen can afford to give up one run. Giving up two would be the same as a loss.
Can’t really expect more than one hit with RISP and 2 outs in a game. Yankees 1/6 RISP.
Yankee defense has hit the skids. The Yankees offense has been in the crapper for a while.
i hate them
1-9 RISP
yankees record the day before stanton was activated: 42-28
since: 6-8
Stanton hitting 231/589. He was ok last year but in 2023 he hit 191/695. He looks washed up.
he also ruined the chemistry of that team as well. not with his personality but he takes a spot, strikes out too often, and runs station to station.
they could win that way when they were hitting but it doesn’t work if dj and stanton have nothing left. but for a few more years we can kick the tires to be sure.
phenom RISP 2 out, hitting 178. Late and close 182. Tie game 101.
our mvp
Back to back Toronto errors, the first on an inning ending DP, lets the Yankees tie the game. Yankees 1-14 RISP.
Kay says the way Toronto is managing the game shows they have no respect for the non Judge hitters. And they’re right to feel that way.
It didn’t matter but with Stanton the tying run at second and one out Boone did not pinch run.
Leiter may be unlucky but the single and the walk were not bad luck.
They went 0 for 5 with RISP in the 7th inning. That has to be a team record, right?
Ha Ha
Maybe this gets Boone fired? All I got.
Back to back games of catcher interference for Escarra, 1-19 throwing runners out, who in his defense can’t hit. Giving Narvaez away was another under the radar blunder for Cashman.
Team effort 1–14 RISP, huge defensive mistakes by Jazz and JC. The pen imploding. Boone has instilled pure panic in this team. Coulda been a 1 run loss instead of this.
Worst bullpen.
Fuck JC Escarra. Fuck Brian Cashman for making so many poor roster decisions. Yankee pen 10 .13 ERA last 4 games. phenom can’t hit and has been erratic defensively. The Toronto manger managing like no one on the Yankees can hurt you other than Judge. And they’re 100% correct.
Third place by Sunday. Fourth place by September 15th.
Can’t wait for July to end, turn the calendar. Wait, it just started? Damn. Different month, same Yankees.
This reminds me of 2023. Also the year the Yankees went into Toronto and got blown away twice in a double header. That was a better Toronto team than this one.
For a player’s manager who imparts calm, Boone seems to impart mostly stupidity and panic. It’s not just that he’s a terrible tactical manager.
Katie S J.C. Escarra has 3 catcher’s interference this season, tied with Victor Caratini for the most in MLB.
[fwiw, there are 7 teams that still haven’t committed a catcher’s interference]
But he also can’t hit or throw runners out. Thanks Cashman.
The Yankees minor league system is so bad that they can’t produce young hard throwing relievers instead relying on washed up, never was guys like Hartlieb and Brubaker? Or a middle infielder who can hit 220 instead of 157?
What I’ve been saying for years.
Take out Judge, and what has the Yankees MiL system produced since 2013, the year they drafted Judge?
Cash getting Gallo, Donaldson, IKF and Verdugo, extending Hixie and DJ, while not possibly getting Seager and earlier Machado didn’t help.
Bryce Harper.
But he got Stroman for two years!
Boone:RISP we gotta cash in; we’ve been very diligent about catcher’s interference; we obviously got to play a little bit better (defense); we’ll talk about switching DJ and Jazz on defense.
I was so disgusted with last night that I skipped today (which was wrong of me, I apologize, I won’t do it again), and, of course, they were almost MORE pathetic today.
Really, this game is mostly on Fried choking.
Beyond that, though, you know who the biggest loser is? Hartlieb. The game’s over, all you need to do is throw strikes, and he couldn’t even do THAT.
He made a bad pitch. It happens. Jazz made an error and it sounds like they’re very serious about switching Jazz and DJ. Curry made the point that each was better suited for the other position. Meanwhile 2-17 with RISP.
Brian no need to apologize. You’re doing a great job on something nobody’s paying you for or helping you with. So thank you!
Rays lose as the A’s win in extra innings on the road. They don’t have the Yankees secret weapon, Aaron Boone. Wait…
Good question Boone and Cash
Jazz Chisholm Jr. told me that “everyone knows I’m a second baseman.”
Jazz said he exclusively played at second this offseason and was told that was where he’d be.
So why is he playing third base? More below
