I truly don’t get how giving Ben Rice a day is the answer, especially as the guy is often the DH, but whatever, I understand that you A. want to get Rosario off of third, and B. want to see if you can get Rice going, so I don’t HATE giving him a day, but I don’t think it should be necessary.
Man, for such a shitty team, the Red Sox really do have some pitchers that give the Yankees FITS, and not even Dick Fitts! This would be a very embarrassing sweep.
Can we agree not to use the phrase “get X going?”
The associations are just too off-putting.
eh I’m okay with Rice getting a day. He’s gonna get them once in a while anyway.
And Bostonās historic AL championship begins as the Yankees fade into obscurity. With Cody and Rice MIA and Judge on the IL, this offense scares nobody.
Jones should have had that. He was afraid of the wall.
Gotta feel for Boone in that he goes with defense tonight, and STILL gets fucked by a good defender sucking.
I do not like how much Tolle dominates these guys. He doesn’t even do that well against other teams, but he owns the Yankees.
I did not like this matchup.
Agreed, but I didn’t think it would be THIS bad. This is NOT a good Boston lineup, and Warren is losing his shit against them.
What is with these awful uniforms?
What’s worse – the uniforms of Warren’s pitching thus far?
Warren trying for an early shower.
This looks to be shaping up to be a lost weekend. Tampa Bay already up 3-1, so it’ll be a one game lead by the end of tonight.
Thanks for sucking, Warren!
I really can’t get over HOW fucking stupid that walk to Wong was. I mean, holy shit, dude. First and third, no outs, okay, you’re probably giving up ONE run, but by walking Wong, you essentially create TWO possible runs to score on non-hits, which is exactly what happened.
Well, he’s new to this baseball thing, I guess.
Joel Sherman highlighted a glaring structural issue with the Yankees’ infield: while New York’s pitching staff induces ground balls at one of the highest rates in the majors, they rank among the worst in MLB at converting those opportunities into double plays when Anthony Volpe is playing shortstop.
The Yankees are tone deaf.
Congratulations to Tolle on his perfect game.
Why didnāt Boone tell Warren with 2 strikes the pitcher has the advantage
I thought Tolle would dominate them, but I legit didn’t expect a fucking Perfect Game!
50 pitches through four and two thirds, not a single baserunner, so Jazz, of course, swings at the first pitch and pops up.
51 fucking pitch perfect game through five. Are these guys fucking serious!?
LOL Tolle at 51-pitches through 5-innings.
Can you even IMAGINE having a five-pitch fifth inning when the pitcher is throwing a perfect game against you?!
“Boy, this guy is throwing a perfect game against up. Better not let his pitch count get up there!”
Special, very special.
When will Aaron Judge have his rib re-imaged?
“I don’t know,” Aaron Boone said. “We’re probably not ready to go down that road yet, with where he’s at.”
Sounds promising
Whatās he whining about?
Warnings? For what?
This game is the epitome of how weak-willed some of these Yankee pitchers are. Once the game was lost, then Warren started pitching MUCH looser.
It is too funny that it is JONES who breaks up the perfect game by the lefty.
Okay, now I can turn this shit off. It’s just a basic loss now.
Not very nice of Spencer to ruin Tolle’s splendid day like that..
Binder doesnāt know how to smooth the curve
If you can get PGold out, with Judge hurt and Rice and Cody slumping, thereās no one who can really hurt you.
Lalane 7ip 0r 1h 12Ks 0BB. Heās been dominant 4 last 5 starts.
Pitchers should not get credit for retiring Austin Wells in a blowout. It should count as Offensive Indifference.
And yes, he put the ball in play and got an RBI, but still, PH’ing him instead of Ben Rice is just waving a white flag.
No fight in ’em.
Volpe coming back brought bad vibes, bad vibes brought losses. Losses bring everyone ice cream though.
Elmer 4ip 1r 1h 4K 6BB
Is it just one hot month? He’ll have to prove it more than this one month to make people believers.
Heās still only 21 but heās had 1300 ABs.
I have absolutely given up on him, so I don’t buy it.
Did Rice’s fall off a cliff begin almost exactly when Spencer got called up?
Maybe it’s a Melky and Cano (was it them, I can’t quite remember who) kind of thing?
Toms sports blog āLHP Henry Lalane (W, 3-1): 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 12 K
He reached 98.4 MPH tonight and generated an incredible 20 whiffs (including nine with his change-up and seven with his slider). Interestingly, his slider isnāt thrown hard, at least not tonight: It averaged only 78.2 MPH with six inches of horizontal break. Regardless, Lalane has been nasty lately. In his last six starts: 1.27 ERA (35.1 IP, 14 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 HR, 10 BB, 50 K). Four of those five runs were allowed in one start.ā

The Yankees expect Trent Grisham and Ryan McMahon to return from the injured list this coming week:
Afternoon Game on ABC
Eight pitch first inning for Bennett. Deja Vu.
This offense is not good right now.
Cole looking sharp again
Including today last 20.2ip Cole 14 runs.
BOS Lineup
P Goldschmidt (R) 1B
B Rice (L) DH
A Rosario (R) 3B
C Bellinger (L) LF
J DomĆnguez (S) RF
J Caballero (R) 2B
M Schuemann (R) CF Why? Waldo hit 400 in June, Boone hasnāt given him an AB
A Volpe (R) SS
A Wells (L) C
he can certainly handle 3b better than rosario
Schumann is hitting 188,career 76 OPS+, so Boone adds him to a struggling lineup. Worse than Bubba Crosby. Good way to make a bad lineup worse.
Schumann looking around after the K. Whatās he looking at.
Why I am I in the lineup?
Cole has been crap the large 4 games. When Cabby and Rosario are hitters you depend on rather than role players. Youāre fucked.
Right now this team is bad. Judge and Fried and Trent and Stanton might return. Bird and Cody might stop slumping. Maybe we can add a catcher.
But today this team is bad.
Cole might stop sucking.
Great job by Cole, just amazin’. Oh, and no hits by the Bronx Bummers through 4-innings. I can barely stand the excitement.
Boone being Boone, gotta get Schuemann going.
That would be ok if Schumann wasn’t a veteran with a career 76 OPS+. He has nowhere to go.
Cole’s hurt again, guaranteed
No.hit thru 4 again
And Schuemann hits a solo HR.
Wells is so bad, just shake your head bad.
In Judge’s absence we need to build a team around Schumann.
Two excellent ABs. At least our best hitter is up now.
Wait you CAN NOT HIT FOR Schumann.
This team is so pathetic
Yankees go down 123 And Garrret Whitlock lowers his 1.7 era vs Yankees even further. Brooks Kriske career era 9.
Going for the four game sweep tomorrow.
At least it was over in a flash.
If Cole isn’t going to be a good pitcher…
Move along, folks, nothing to see here!
Three hits yesterday, three hits today. An everyday regular hitting. 160.
Lombard is tearing up AAA. He can’t possibly be worse than these jokers even if he needs to adjust
Hey guys, this may be our first and last chance to taste the major leagues!
We should all march down to the Bronx and try out!
As soon as he got hot he got hurt. Hes playing wiffle ball with Dax Kilby in Tampa.
Joey Gallo was much better than Wells
Among every Yankee who has had at least 185 plate appearances in a season, only four times has a player finished with a .160 BA or worse.
Joey Gallo in 2021
Joey Gallo in 2022
Jim Mason in 1975
Dick Howser in 1968
It’s inSANE.
It’s so crazy.
Brian may as well continue this thread until they win again. Yes, they will a game again, someday. Are the Twins upcoming?
Cole last 5 games 6.12 era BAA 286
Rice 2-23 last 6 games
Cody 2-19 last 6 games
Yes. Also nuts.
I’m really worried that the 1st third of this season was the outlier for Rice. Please let that not be the case.
Who returns first? Judge, or Stanton? Stanton sure is one slow healer.

Even he knows how silly it sounds.
And besides, you could move the needle a ton without even coming close to leaving the zone of historical suckage.
Steroids?
Heroin
Rays up 3-1 in the 6th.
Rays win.
Is it really an impressive offense if they score 30 runs in a weekend and then 20 over the next week? Sure that is 5 runs a game, but it is hard to win post season like that.
It’s great you can light up KC (and I’m sure Minnesota when you get to them), but this team has some significant holes at the bottom of the lineup that go exposed last year… and they are worse this year.
Oh, great, we have to wait until night to see the sweep.
Maybe they can improve by then.
Brian picked the right time to take a hiatus.
You know it’s bad when Brian has given up
Rays up 4-0 in the fifth inning.
If they don’t take care of their own business, who cares what the Devil Rays do?
For those interested, Rays win. š

Heās not gonna be any better as a starter.
Depressing.

A Rosario (R) DH
O Cabrera (S) 3B
A Wells (L) C

Not enough Cabbies. Bring back Escarra.
He’s better than Wells anyway, top half of the league and all.
Tim Kurkijan said this may be the best Yankee team since 2009. Or may not.
