rice would be very interesting off the bench but unlike jasson that excels in the field and at the plate it seems like Rice could use a bit more seasoning catching and in the field since he has very few games at first.
just being pragmatic even though i have no problem dumping 8.5M to dfa rizzo and telling stanton to ride the pine.
I just get the sense rice is a matt carpenter type – somewhat unheralded but plays within his means. ie hell excel in whichever role he’s assigned. I will admit, though, that promoting him to play 1b and, assuming he plays well, it essentially nukes his development as a catcher
