Simply put, pretty much everyone in the top of the order besides Judge is in a big slump, so, well, THAT’s not good. It’s nice that Jazz is back, though, and it’s also nice that Wells and LeMahieu have been hitting. But Dominguez, Rice, and Grisham all need to step the fuck up (and Belli and Goldy to a certain extent, as well).
The bullpen is basically Yerry, Effross, and Williams tonight, right? Welp.
I had obviously long given up on seeing Cousins pitch this season, but now it looks like TJS for Cousins, so we won’t see him until 2027 at the earliest. I wonder if he even remains a Yankee for that long (he’ll be eligible for arbitration next season, but due to the lack of pitching, he’ll probably only get the minimum in arbitration).
Judge, buddy, stop expanding the zone. You had been doing that so well this season, but the last week or so, he’s been starting to do it more and more. Just let them walk you!
Grisham and Rice continue their slumps.
Grisham is due for a major correction, 174/371/174 over the last 14 days. Not sure how good Rice 139/205/222! last 14 days is.Martian is hitting 194/224/226! over the last 15 days and has 1 home run since May 9. I’ve thought for a while this offense is running to some extent on smoke and mirrors
I mean, they have the best team OPS in baseball still (and even if that’s driven greatly by Judge, they still HAVE Judge, ya know?).
But yes, this devotion to Grisham and Rice at the top of the order is probably a mistake.
Over under Yankee runs unsurprisingly 1.
Well, that was an impressive first inning (facepalm).
At this point, just walk Narvaez.
And on cue, he drives in a run.
So Narvaez is now the best catcher ever, apparently.
Rodon is also just a headcase loser, so that’s a problem, as well.
It’s not like the Red Sox lineup is some in some great shape, either. They got dudes slumping left and right, as well. So Rodon makes sure to pitch to one of the guys who ISN’T slumping with two outs and a base open, and he paid for it.
It’s really brutal when the Yankees need a good pitching performance, and Rodon sucks right off the bat.
Toronto already losing makes today’s result a lot more bearable either way.
Maybe you should worry about the townies.
If they SWEEP they’ll be 8 back in the loss column, and a game over .500. Kind of hard to worry about that.
No idea why Jazz hasn’t run yet.
Where would the townies be without Narvaez and Whitlock? Whitlock is 5-1 with a 2.12 era vs the Yankees.
It’s not like he pitched well even last night. The Yankees just ran into an out at third, and got fucked on a foul ball call on what SHOULD have been a double.
Hopefully Dobbins doesn’t last long, at least.
Dominguez hit it well, but nothing to show for it.
Fucking Wells. These guys are all choking like crazy recently.
In all seriousness, with how shitty THEIR lineup is, too, they really should try to avoid Narvaez when possible (not like give him the Bonds treatment, of course, just with two outs and a runner on second, pitch around him).
They actually had his pitch count up, so of course then then gave him a super quick inning.
PGold, Rice, Martian and Trent are all trending down.
Trent the last 3years has never OPSed over 700. He’s not a good hitter.
Boone will figure it out by late July.
Judge K’ing every AB so far this series except he managed a HR to send the Yankees to an extra innings loss Friday.
Dobbins is a fuckin dork and they need to punish him as such.
That’s the annoying thing. Crochet was outstanding last night. Dobbins is not outstanding tonight, and yet the results are the same.
Grisham is fine to be IN the lineup, but this devotion to him at the top of the order is just baffling.
Just keep pitching to Narvaez (I kid, as obviously you had to pitch to him here).
The really frustrating thing is that they’re losing in two completely different ways. Last weekend, they could hit, but couldn’t pitch. Now they can pitch (basically), but can’t hit.
Another Rodon meltdown. The guy is a mental midget.
Getting dominated by shitty Dobbins. This is the worst loss of all of the Red Sox losses so far.
The Team That Forgot How to Hit: Soon to be a major motion picture.
Scintillating.
This is obviously mostly on the offense, but Rodon also sucked, and he has ROUTINELY sucked against Boston, and that’s obviously ungood.
Great cut, Deej.
JFC
That was sub optimal
Justin Wilson dominating them now. Blech.
irritating.
That fucking sucked
While he was obviously a moron on the basepaths, at least Dominguez showed up to hit a little tonight.
Six hits, 5 runs in 3 games, a phenom error and a sub Jorge baserunning blunder. Championship.
Yeah, lots of awful decision-making these last few games.
But honestly, whatever, now that they scored a few runs, I can’t even be too pissed about this one, either. I was SUPER mad when they weren’t scoring ANY runs. Rodon just can’t pitch against Boston. It sucks, but it is what it is.
Tomorrow is big. We need Fried to NOT suck against Boston.
What are they doing with Stanton? He didn’t play yesterday or today in the minors. Doesn’t he need ABs?
That’s fucking BIZARRE. No clue.
He was listed as being in the lineup earlier today. I think the field was wet so they pulled him.
And that’s why with the weather report he should’ve played last night and sat tonight.
In the last few days Jazz thrown at trying to steal 3rd, ditto phenom and the Martian spacing out. Boone’s teams never play smart.
Boone thought Rodo was good.
And the play at second with Story. Very bad.
Yeah, lots of fuck-ups, which frankly also makes me not AS down on tonight as I could be, as they’ve been AVOIDING these fuckups all season, so having a few this weekend isn’t a huge deal to me.
Rays, 38-32.

AL East vs AL East Standings
Red Sox 14-11
Rays 10-9
Orioles 8-8
Blue Jays 10-12
Yankees 8-10
They’re 1-4 against Boston. That’s obviously going to skew things either way.
Yankees now 0-16 in games they trailed by3+. Only two other teams have been worse. Yankees have blown four 3-0 leads.
Yeah, it’s super annoying.
