  1. I had obviously long given up on seeing Cousins pitch this season, but now it looks like TJS for Cousins, so we won’t see him until 2027 at the earliest. I wonder if he even remains a Yankee for that long (he’ll be eligible for arbitration next season, but due to the lack of pitching, he’ll probably only get the minimum in arbitration).

    1. Grisham is due for a major correction, 174/371/174 over the last 14 days. Not sure how good Rice 139/205/222! last 14 days is.Martian is hitting 194/224/226! over the last 15 days and has 1 home run since May 9. I’ve thought for a while this offense is running to some extent on smoke and mirrors

    2. I mean, they have the best team OPS in baseball still (and even if that’s driven greatly by Judge, they still HAVE Judge, ya know?).

But yes, this devotion to Grisham and Rice at the top of the order is probably a mistake.

  2. It’s not like the Red Sox lineup is some in some great shape, either. They got dudes slumping left and right, as well. So Rodon makes sure to pitch to one of the guys who ISN’T slumping with two outs and a base open, and he paid for it.

    1. It’s not like he pitched well even last night. The Yankees just ran into an out at third, and got fucked on a foul ball call on what SHOULD have been a double.

  3. In all seriousness, with how shitty THEIR lineup is, too, they really should try to avoid Narvaez when possible (not like give him the Bonds treatment, of course, just with two outs and a runner on second, pitch around him).

    1. That’s the annoying thing. Crochet was outstanding last night. Dobbins is not outstanding tonight, and yet the results are the same.

    1. Yeah, lots of awful decision-making these last few games.

But honestly, whatever, now that they scored a few runs, I can’t even be too pissed about this one, either. I was SUPER mad when they weren’t scoring ANY runs. Rodon just can’t pitch against Boston. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Tomorrow is big. We need Fried to NOT suck against Boston.

    1. He was listed as being in the lineup earlier today. I think the field was wet so they pulled him.

    2. And that’s why with the weather report he should’ve played last night and sat tonight.

    1. Yeah, lots of fuck-ups, which frankly also makes me not AS down on tonight as I could be, as they’ve been AVOIDING these fuckups all season, so having a few this weekend isn’t a huge deal to me.
