There’s a day off tomorrow, and all of these games are night games, so…why the fuck is Austin Wells sitting a day after he had a monster performance?! At least Trent Grisham is being moved down the order a bit. And it’s nice that Volpe feels he’s healthy enough to play tonight. Interesting question would be, if Wells DID play tonight, where would Boone have batted him? 7th or 9th?
It would be nice if Rodon didn’t have a meltdown tonight. Big if, I know.
Decent first, Rodon.
A good start.
Dobbins might need to retire.
Weren’t they saying left field right before he went oppo?
“I’ve said it before, that if the Yankees were the last team to give me a contract, I’d retire.”
Red Sox rookie Hunter Dobbins is fired up for his first career start against the Yankees tomorrow:

Elmer Fudd Rodriguez High A age 21 Jun1 7ip 0r 4h 9k 1bb Maybe we’ll get lucky for trading Narvaez.
The steam powered engine sputtered.
This live conversation with an infielder is nuts. Jazz is talking to ESPN and makes a misthrow.
Don’t you get it, it’s not a contest, it’s circus.
How do teams agree to this, how do players agree to it, and what’s so very wrong with them that they even ask for it?
Maybe give 100% on defense, Jazz.
His batting average just went down, like a BUM.
Yankee pitchers pitching around Narvaez all series is so weird to me.
Meanwhile the offense disappeared.
That’s how it goes. Score early, then hibernate.
Not the end of the world, of course, but walking the #8 hitter seems so foolhardy.
Predictable
And that’s precisely why it is so foolhardy to walk the #8 hitter.
Fucking Rodon.
How cool is it that this shocks me?
Score early, score no more. Of course Wells had a great night Saturday and is riding the pines tonight, and Jasson, thrown in against a top lefty also rides the pines tonight with a RHP on the mound.
Yankeetown is now in the Boondocks.
Two fast outs.
Beautifully played, Don.
DJ, eh. Cromulent.
Nuclear power beats the steam engine.
We love DJLM here. We never lost faith in DJLM here. We’re all DJLM guys here.
Always good to put the leadoff guy on.
Is Rodon turning back into a pumpkin?
Is 2023 Rodon returning? Was ball 3 a strike?
Guess pitching around Narvaez was the right move.
Pumpkin it is. Talk about falling apart. Walk, HR; HBP, BB, mound visit, HR.
If Elmer Fudd doesn’t become a star fuck Brian Cashman and continued fuck for Kriske over Whitlock. And IKF. And most of all Josh Donaldson.
A rotation filled with headcases who wilt under pressure. It’s not ideal.
Yeah. Oh my, I’m on ESPN!
So fun. Why don’t they just try to make this half-inning last FOREVER?
I hate ESPN’s coverage. It’s so pretentious.
I love the use of Tim Hill as if he’s some superhero with the bases loaded, and not just some dude.
If there was one out, I get it, as you want the groundball, but they just needed ANY out. So why Tim Hill?
Cruz is so awful. Boone is worse. Losing 2 of 3 at home to a mediocre Bosox team.
While all three of the Yankee pitchers falling apart was the WORST thing about this series, it’s also notable how the Red Sox kept tacking on runs. The Yankees never seem to do that.
Obviously Tim Hill was undue. You can’t use a guy who hasn’t surrendered a hit with the bases loaded in 14 ABs in a high leverage situation.
Agreed, which is why I would have stuck with Cruz to see what his deal is. He gets out of that inning, it’s not even that bad of a performance.
With Weaver gone and if Cruz is going to suck, this team is fucked.
I dislike this turn of events. And Boone.
I would have bet my house that moron would swing at the first pitch.
We needed a hit, not a sac fly.
I bet DJ had sucked you guys in, so that you totally didn’t expect a ground ball to 2nd base.
No short stop like the earlier DP.
That’s the DJLM I know so well.
That was a scintillating AB. The steam engine is still obsolete. Choo Choo.
Someone described yesterday’s hit against Justin Wilson as a washed up hitter singling off a washed up pitcher.
Ok. What time does the do-over game start?
Crash and burn bullpen.
And with Weaver out if Cruz and Lo are going to suck we are so fucked. Lo is a walking injury, guys like that don’t always regain the form. Effross is getting bombed in AAA.
But we always have Boone.
They really can’t try to push Lo. This is the second time he was good in the first inning, and terrible in the second.
Boone will figure it out by August.
Twenty five runs and counting given up this weekend.
I don’t really care about this series (once they avoided the sweep), per se, but it makes NEXT weekend a really big deal, to see if they are all going to get their asses kicked AGAIN.
Oh, no. Not more weekend night baseball.
I don’t even take anything from this inning regarding Headrick. He’s purely trying to get through the inning at this point.
🚑
Imagine coming into this game, in this situation, and saying, “How about I walk the first dude I face?”
The pen is a mess. How long can Yarbrough Keep fooling people? I don’t trust Warren.
Has tonight’s utter collapse by Rodon signaled the end of good Rodon?
We’ll get to see Yarbrough and Rodon again in Fenway next week. Sounds like fun!
27 runs allowed in my 3 games. When’s the last time that happened.
Jonathan Loaisiga has allowed 4 HR in 10 IP this season.
His 3.6 HR/9 rate allowed is 2nd-highest in MLB (min 10 IP), behind only Kyle Gibson (5.11 HR/9)
Yankees vs. Royals probable pitchers:
Tuesday: Max Fried vs. Noah Cameron (2-1, 0.85 ERA, 19 SO)
Wednesday: Clarke Schmidt vs. Kris Bubic (5-3, 1.43 ERA, 79 SO)
Thursday: Will Warren vs. Seth Lugo (3-5, 3.46 ERA, 50 SO)
Cameron has hilariously made things awkward for the Royals, since he was just supposed to be filling in, but how can you possibly pull him from the rotation?
Katie S Teams that have not won a game when trailing by 3+ runs this season:
Yankees (0-15)
Rangers (0-18)
Brewers (0-20)
Yankees have 3 losses leading by 3+ runs.
