    1. Martian is hitting 333/959. Martian, Spencer and Rice a combined 9/13 with 2 walks.

They’ll keep him in the minors as long as they can but then what, barring an injury, if he keeps mashing?

    1. While it definitely IS annoying, can you imagine how aggravating it must be to be an Orioles fan and seeing the O’s two games back with a .650 winning percentage?!

  1. On Judge’s defense, from https://www.mlb.com/yankees/news/grading-star-player-position-switches-in-2024

It’s not that he’s really made any spectacular plays, because he hasn’t; he’s 0-for-10 on turning the hardest opportunities (those with a Catch Probability of 50% or less) into an out. But he’s also perfect on the easiest chances, the ones with a Catch Probability of 75% or more. There’s value in great-looking catches, to be sure. There’s as much or more in just making the plays you should make.

I suspect it’s not that Judge couldn’t make such plays; it’s that he’d rather not risk another injury.

    1. The arm’s got to help, too.

Just saw a highlight on mlb.com of Ellie dlC throwing a guy out at home, btw. Worth a look. Damn.

    2. Damn, indeed. Perfect relay.
When he puts it all together he will be one Ell of a ballplayer.

  2. I don’t know if they broke it down on the broadcast, but DiMaggio’s 1937 July with 31 extra base hits featured 15 homers, 10 doubles and 6 triples.

Also, at the other end of the spectrum, Thairo Estrada, who’s never put up a .740 OPS in a full season is in the Giant’s three hole!?!
