Well, here’s where we find out if the Dodgers game was a fluke or not.
That was just awful luck. That was, like, an extra 17 pitches on just bullshit.
Luckily, though…
A. No runs
and
B. I imagine Fried will be able to make up some of those pitches against the back of the order
They are going to have to work on this whole “Not being able to throw ANY runners out” bullshit.
Escaped
The Yankees are doing their classic, “Get ahead in the count and then work their way to a strikeout” approach.
‘Should’ be able to hit this guy
Take note Hal

ABSURD they don’t do the game anymore.
You can’t need six pitches to get Bo fucking Naylor, Fried.
Or seven on Noel. Not good, Fried!
42 through 2 isn’t INSANE, but it ain’t great, either.
The current approach to the Yankees sure seems to be “Put Judge on base, and let the others all go 1-2-3.”
Needing 17 more pitches than the shitty Cleveland pitcher through two inning is a GOOD thing, right?
Jazz is an upgrade but he is hitting 186/726 which is what not you want from a 5/6 hitter. Did he become homer happy?
52 pitches through three isn’t great, but at least it’s better.
Last 15 days Yankees 22nd in runs scored.
Wouldnt it make more sense to have a lefty, Vivas, to play when DJ sits?
Trent last 28 days 193/659, last 14 days 178/563 and he’s still batting leadoff. Maybe he needs a little less PT.
Cody after a nice spurt 205/612 last 14 days. Team hitting is dropping like Tesla stock.
I wasn’t worried about the offense coming into this series, as I think they’ve just been facing teams with good pitching the last few series, with the Angels being the notable exception (and even there, Kukuchi has been hot).
This series, though, has been bad. Crochett might strike out 20 guys on Saturday.
It’s hard to believe that Trent’s numbers early on were anything but a fluke.
Oh, sure, but the others should be fine.
But yeah, I NEVER liked batting Grisham leadoff. I like him in the middle of the lineup, where his power can be useful.
Cody can stay
That was hilarious that Jazz just stopped running to first when it was clear that they were obviously not going to get him.
Why the fuck did he run on the first pitch with Volpe, but not with the first pitch with the Martian?!
Alonso 298/973, Soto 229/797. Susan?
You HAVE to be able to put these guys away, Fried!
Taking 8 pitches to get Gabriel fucking Arias is NOT good.
The other Yankees are infecting Fried with the classic “Go up 0-2 and then start throwing junk for the rest of the at-bat” approach.
You absolutely CANNOT walk Bo fucking Naylor after having him 0-2. That’s just madness.
That saves some pitches
I guess you go batter-to-batter in the sixth, and see if you can’t steal a couple of outs with Fried, right?
I think you can safely push him to, like, 105. Then you bring a reliever in no matter what at that point.
I figure Lo for 1 1/3, then Leiter for an inning, and Williams to close.
Devin threw 30 pitches Tuesday and Boston is looming. We need runs.
Rice certainly did do damage.
Nice job, Rice. Blah!
Two run game, Cleveland’s pen is better.
Classic Yankees bases loaded nothingness.
Aaron Judge is behind you. You could do literally anything but hit the ball on the ground, and they’d be fine… and that’s what he did.
Fried frustrated me, but that was still a hell of a performance, especially that outstanding sixth inning.
Fluke mixed with a juiced ball is my take on the Dodgers game. That and, “Why the fuck did you bring in Tim Hill there?!”
No idea why you stick with the guy with bases loaded and no outs, only to pull him NOW.
Holy shit, Volpe, give him a fucking chance to steal!
Bad news: “The Yankees are building up Marcus Stroman as a starting pitcher, Aaron Boone said. Stroman threw live BP again today and felt good. He could begin a rehab assignment soon.”
Shitty job by the Martian, to be sure, but it was even worse for Volpe to not give Jazz a chance, swinging first pitch BOTH TIMES with Jazz on first!
Not Volpe’s finest game.
That said, Jazz should have still made the catch.
Tim Hill said, “Not so fast, Headrick, I still have some life left in me yet.”
You GOTTA pinch hit Goldy here, right?
Shit, is DJ hurt again?
Tack on run by Bellinger.
Tack on run by Jazz.
Jasson hit it well, but nothing to show for it.
Do you stick with Hill and try to have Yerry close it out?
Some rare timely hits but couldve been more.
Theme for the 2025 Yankees – it feels like they’ve been struggling and failing all game, and they’re up 4-0.
That’s how you do it, a 1, 2, 3 inning.
I still would have preferred to have Lo fresh for tomorrow. I’d have given Yerry a chance.
Got hinky in the 7th but smooth sailing after.
Katie S Batters are now 0-14 vs Tim Hill as a Yankee with the bases loaded
Fried would like people to note that that’s also with one walk.
