Hopefully Schmidt tries to NOT suck against the Guardians this time around, unlike his first start against them.
I’d like to see Rice pick it up, he’s been really unlucky as of late outside and of a few HRs. His wxOBA is still really good because he’s scorching the ball right at people.
And that continues in the first. Scorcher right at a guy.
Clark Bar
LHBs career 818 vs Schmidt, 789 for the season.
I guess Cleveland just owns Schmidt.
Nice job, Clarke.
Cody hot streak vamoosed
Belli also hit it hard. Hopefully those hard hit balls find grass in the upcoming innings.
Other than Judge PGold has the highest OBP on the team. Why isn’t he batting 1 or 2 all the time.
It’s sadly all because of the lefties who would have to hit in a row in that scenario.
Volpe also hit it hard. Hopefully these hard hit balls eventually pay off.
Tomorrow, maybe.
The offense does not appear to be what it once was.
And has not appeared to be it for some time.
Yep. Last 15 days 17th in runs, middle of the pack.
hot take alert: i’m not a big fan of watching an old and slow dj hit ground balls into the dirt.
💤
Definitely an extremely frustrating game.
When Grisham and Rice suck, Judge gets a hit. When they do well, he does not. It’s that kind of night.
Oh, for my sake!
Two challenges in the inning, one from each team. Both resulted in Yankees outs. Just one of those nights.
I think we’re seeing Headrick becoming the main lefty in the pen.
I mean, come the fuck on at this point, right? Three double plays in seven fucking innings?!
If Cruz is going to have a hiccup, now at least is the time to do it.
Just get it to DJ
I have to agree that their chances of winning would DEFINITELY be greater if they got it to DJ.
Are Judge’s numbers better or worse with men on base/in scoring position/in high leverage situations?
They didn’t get it to DJ
Goldy taking grounders at second today. Wouldn’t third base be a lot easier for him to theoretically learn?
Manfred: MLB will propose automated ball-strike challenge system for 2026 at the major-league
Automating challenges just doesn’t seem to make any sense.
Wait – actually, given how consistently umpires get those calls wrong, I think I’ll take that back!
But then why not just automate the zone to begin with?
Oddly enough, it appears that it is to not ruin the efforts of catchers like Ecarra, who have become good at pitch framing.
MLBTR “ Human umpires will continue to make the vast majority of the ball-strike calls. Each team receives two challenges that would turn to the electronic zone to potentially overrule a call they feel is incorrect. Challenges must be called for in real time by either the hitter, catcher or pitcher. An overturned call does not result in a forfeited challenge. The limit on the number of incorrect challenges encourages players to challenge only if the call is either so egregious that they’re confident they’ll get it overturned or comes on pitches that might be particularly decisive to the outcome of the game.
Additionally, Manfred was noncommittal on when the league had interest in moving forward with a potential change to allow hitters to use bat tracking metrics to challenge check swing calls.”
Managers have to be hands on to limit which players they trust, and what situations they want challenges to be used.
I imagine in practice they players would look to the dugout for a thumbs up or down
Real time. I imagine Judge and maybe Rice would have the green light. Otherwise only use the challenge late and close, mostly for strike 3 calls.
Boone Martian good to go.
Martian said “I shall return”, and he did.

I don’t know if this is good or bad. Maybe a half season will be good for Stroman who had a 3.51era in the first half last year and a 5.98 in the second half.
Hoch: The Yankees are building up Marcus Stroman as a starting pitcher, Aaron Boone said. Stroman threw live BP again today and felt good. He could begin a rehab assignment soon.
Good or bad? Giancarlo Stanton will remain in Tampa for the rest of the week. He could return to New York next week to begin a rehab assignment, Aaron Boone said.
Thinking about DJ and Stroman and remembering Jughead and the boys in the reject corner of the party near the beginning of Animal House.
